Had a great stay in the yurt

Spacious yurt with a couple beds and futons. Enjoyed the sauna, and Doug was friendly and met us upon arrival.

Great accommodation, great host!

  • 5 of 5

5 of us recently stayed in the Don's yurt, over a pretty cold winter weekend. I think the temperatures got down to -13 or so, but inside the yurt was plenty comfortable.

Everything is well appointed, with more than enough space for the 5 of us. We used the kitchenette once, and found it to have pretty much everything we needed. There's no toaster, but not exactly a deal breaker!

Location is very convenient, close to Marquette and closer to Ishpaming, and the host, Don, was very welcoming and offered us a few tips for local places to eat/drink.

The sauna was a lovely addition to relieve the winter chills!

We'd give it six stars if we could!

We stayed in the yurt over new years when the outside temperatures were around -5, and we stayed warm and cozy. It is a very cool set up for lounging, and the owner is very friendly.

Great experience and has everything you need.

  • 5 of 5

This is our second time staying at the yurt. We have stayed in summer and we were comfortable and in the winter and were warm. It is more spacious than I thought it would be and many people can stay here. The kitchen has all your needs and beds are comfortable. I would recommend this place for anyone and especially those seeking something different to experience.

The Luxury Yurt does not disappoint!

  • 5 of 5

Don's luxury yurt was great for our mountain biking trip up in the UP. The amenities were great, close to all the trails, sauna is relaxing and Don is super hospitable. Thanks for the great experience.

Sweet modern Yurt!

  • 5 of 5

The yurt was exactly as promised. It was very clean and the space easily accommodated the 6 of us. There are two levels - the top has a kitchenette (stove top, microwave, sink, dishwasher and mini-refrigerator), seating areas as well as dining areas. In addition to the chairs there were 3 futons that could double as beds and one queen (full?) size bed as well. Downstairs, which had it's own entrance (as well as being connected by stairs to the upstairs) had an additional seating area for 4 and a queen bed. Washer and dryer and bathroom were only located in the walk out lower level. Sauna was in the lower level as well and doubled as a shower area. All very well kept.

Points to know about the property. The yurts lets in a lot of morning light so bring an eye mask if you prefer to sleep in the dark. The downstairs bedroom has some privacy - a sliding cloth door - but it also has the only bathroom so if you are traveling with others someone will have to walk through the others bedroom. So this is best for families traveling together or good friends. I don't recommend the yurt for someone who uses a walker or wheel chair as the bathroom in in the lower level.

The owner is very nice and helpful. He apparently rides mountain bikes and the decor reflected this - neat glass table made from bike spokes and some the chairs looked like their base was made from bike tires.

Heater available and worked very well. No airconditioning - but we did not need it. You can remove some window coverings and open the ceiling to let a breeze through if desired. (We left the ceiling cracked and it got quiet cool at night, keep it closed if you like it warmer)

About a 15 minute drive to Marquette and Lake Superior. Ispheming has everything you need - grocery, restaurants, even a mining museum but you could exhaust the town in a day.

Lastly, the property has privacy and we had the run of the place without worrying about noise -ours or others :). And the kitchen is reasonably stocked with all the basics.
