We are Candice and Ted and we live in Atanta. We love Tybee. We decided to buy a place to vacation and to rent when we are not at Tybee. We wanted a place where we would like to stay and play. We have equipped this unit just that way. We think you will agree.
Tybee Beach Vacation Rental purchased this condo in 2015
If you like "beachy", you will love this unit. You wake up and look out your patio door or walk in the living room and you will know you are at the beach. This is a corner unit and is extremely bright and colorful. It is large and quiet. Built of concrete, you seldom if ever hear neighbors. We are in the middle of the island where it is very quiet. Being on the ocean side of the main road (no roads between you and the beach) you and your children are a really, really short walk to the pool and then literally steps to this wide, amazing beach. Remember the island is only a couple miles long. Getting around is not a problem. Food, shops, and Tybee night life are at your fingertips. (as of this writing) Cab fare is only $3 anywhere on the island. The county park which includes huge playground, tennis courts and grills are literally across the street. Like Tybee parades? This may be the best unit on the island for parade watchers. Tybee is only about 13 miles from historic downtown Savannah. A short drive or cab ride.
Marlin Monroe's is likely the coolest beach bar on the island. The restaurant has a great, reasonably priced menu and the bar literally sits on the beach. The heated pool is the only one on the island. The unit is pet friendly (tile throughout) and is cleaned carefully after each visit to ensure those without pets have a great experience. Family friendly. Beachy, beachy. Steps to the pool and beach. Come on down!! Tybee is an old school beach town/island. You won't find a mall or bungee jump here. What you will find is an amazing island, wide gorgeous beaches, dolphin watching almost daily (I have never been on the beach all day and not seen dolphins) back river marshes, gorgeous bike rides, seafood in casual settings, old school night spots, Savanah only about 13 miles away if you must leave the island. Did I say "come on down".
My parents and I stayed here this spring. Tybee is a wonderful island which hasn't been overdeveloped. The location of the condo was great because it was out of the "downtown" area. The condo is very nicely furnished with a lot of natural light and fun, beachy art and accessories. The pool area was very nice and great on days when it was too windy to go to the beach. There were a few "cons" which aren't necessarily deal breakers but unexpected at this price point. Only one bedroom faces the exterior of the condo, one has a window into the parking garage, and the other doesn't have a window; the mattresses were adequate. The location was a little noisy as well with the garbage pickup just below the unit and the garage was cleaned with a leaf blower one morning. Also, there were absolutely no "extras" in the kitchen such as foil, saran wrap, any food storage containers, or extra dishwasher detergent (3 cubes don't last very long) which we usually find when staying at VRBO places (this one books though a local realty company - and they are great).
This condo was great for my family. Very spacious and in an excellent location. Easy access to the beach and close to downtown Tybee. The condo was nicely decorated and fit right in with a beach theme. It was fully stocked with all the amenities of home. Each bedroom had a TV in it, along with queen beds. Parking is under a covered area and right in front of the condo. It is a tight fit for big SUV's. I Would definitely stay here again!!
We had an amazing vacation staying at this condo. The condo is very roomy, especially considering our party consisted of 4 adults, and 5 children. There is a large dining table and bar-top that accommodated our party, as well as 3 more family members that were able to visit and dine with us. The kitchen is fully stocked with cookware, utensils, everything you would need. There are 3 swimming pools to choose from, one of which is heated. There is also a great restaurant that adjoins the pool deck and the beach. The beach is just a short walk from the room, and the balcony has a good view of the ocean. We were fortunate enough to be visiting while the sea turtles were nesting, and saw a lot of them swimming just off the beach during the day. There is a public park directly across the street that has a huge grass field, playground, covered pavilion, and charcoal grills. The Sugar Shack is also just a short walk, and was a kid favorite. We never did see rain while we were there, so we did not use the TVs very much - but there are TVs in every room. The condo entrance is inside a covered parking garage which was really nice for unloading/loading everything. The condo really feels like a home, and we cannot wait to go back and stay here again!
You can pull your car right up to the front door which is key for loading and unloading. I think I was one of the first guests to visit after the new renovations. It was updated, clean, and very colorful as you would expect from a beach condo. All rooms had tv’s if you drive to the beach for that. The unit was laid out nice with a larger living/dining room area and a massive eating area. I unfortunately had to work on my vacation a bit and the dining room table offered a great workspace. The kitchen was stocked full of hardware needed to prepare meals but I decided to eat out a bit at the on-site and poolside restaurant/bar. If you drive all the way to the beach and then want to hang out at a pool this a great spot for you as it has 3 pools. If you choose the enjoy the ocean you can see it from the balcony or it is just a short walk down to the beach. The property was quiet for the most part and check-in/out was a breeze. I’m going back.
Tybee is a very small old school type beach island/town. The bar and business district is about 1 mile or a $3 cab ride away from this condo. You won't find a mall here but Savannah is only minutes away (12 miles ish). If you haven't been there is so much charm here. Ride your bike (or rent ), stroll the beaches with your family or friends amazing seafood on site or up and down the strip. You can see dolphins almost every day just off the beach. Go to the back side (river side) of the island and see the marsh, go to the dock and see the fishing boats come in or buy seafood right off the dock. Bring it back and cook it as I have a BIG POT in the kitchen just for this. Set on your deck, ocean to the left and Hwy 80 to the right and eat the shrimp you just bought and cooked.
