Overview

About the property

Same property as Bear's Den, Alpen Den, and Casa Del Sol

The Alpen Haus is a beautiful, secluded home along Four Mile Creek that easily accommodates 8 to 10 guests depending on sleeping arrangements. We own The Alpen Haus, The Bear's Den, The Alpen Den and Casa Del Sol, which are on the same several-acre property. You can rent multiple places to accommodate larger parties. The Alpen Den is actually the lower level of the Alpen Haus, but has its own private entrance and its own patio. Renting the Alpen Haus and Alpen Den together accommodates approximately 12 guests very comfortably. Discounts may be available when renting multiple places! All four of our places would allow for a total party of 16 to 20 guests.

***Note - due to our location outside of town, we are only subject to 3.9% state and county sales tax vs. the 11% tax required at properties located in Glenwood Springs proper.***

The Alpen Haus is a stunning 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath home perfect for your family gathering. Plenty of decks, patios, and gathering areas. Private and scenic for your perfect vacation.

The master bedroom features a king bed and a premium bathroom within the bedroom. The two other bedrooms have queen-sized beds and share a bathroom off the upstairs hall. There are also two queen-sized sofa beds available in two separate areas. There is a powder room / half bath located on the main level for those guests sleeping on the sofa beds.

A fully equipped kitchen gives you the freedom of eating in if you’re too tired to try one of the many fabulous restaurants in the area. Relax in the large living area and enjoy cable TV, wireless internet, or simply unwind with a good book. The Alpen Haus has its own private patio off of the back that offers beautiful views of the surrounding hills and endless stargazing at night. It is a great place for lounging and grilling.

The property also features a recreation field and a horseshoe area. The field is great for volleyball, badminton, croquet, or for just tossing a ball (all the gear is available for your use).

Almost forgot...there is ping pong and foos ball in the garage!

This is the perfect home away from home for your Glenwood Springs vacation. Centrally located, yet off the beaten path, The Alpen Haus is a short drive to both downtown Glenwood Springs and Sunlight Mountain Ski Area. The Alpen Haus is located in the peaceful hills west of town and shares nearly 6 acres of wooded private property along Four Mile Creek. Don't come this far to stay downtown when you can enjoy wildlife viewing during the day and stargazing at night. Accessible year round, The Alpen Haus has it all.

Glenwood Springs is truly a wonderful vacation spot with all its available activities. We are close to alpine & cross country skiing, hiking, snowshoeing, biking, rafting, fishing, shopping, or just soaking in the world famous hot springs... you’ll never run out of things to do! We welcome both short and long terms stays.

***Special Note for winter guests - All wheel drive or four wheel drive autos are required when staying in December, January, and February. Difficult conditions may also exist in November and March. We have the driveway professionally plowed and generally do not have problems. However, inappropriate cars can and do get stuck as elevation changes exist on the driveway as well as the possibility of slick ice and deep snow. Stuck cars do cause problems as the driveway services three separate properties. You are required to provide information about the cars that will be driven during the winter. Guests that become stuck are responsible for all associated costs.***

Why Mark Spidell chose Northwest

This house is just a short walk from our home. This allows us to be nearby if the need arises, but far enough away to provide privacy. With great views, the peaceful sound of the creek and the proximity to the great outdoor adventure, this property is truly special.

What makes this house unique

This property is special because of its location and unique design. It is close to town but also feels rural. You can adjust your plans easily as it is near many different activities. Awesome snow at Sunlight...10 minutes away. Want to go river rafting...10 minutes away. Awesome snow in Aspen...45 minutes away. Want to going for a bike ride...leave from the house or drive a short distance to some beautiful trails and paths. The back road to Carbondale starts a quarter mile away, and meanders through scenic ranch land where you often see elk grazing and the occasional coyote (a great road for biking or running as well).

Our return visit was as awesome as our first

  • 5 of 5

We had the privilege of returning to the Alpen Haus for the second time. It is such an awesome house. It was immaculately clean. The kitchen is very well stocked. The beds are comfortable, and the large family room has 3 great couches to lounge around on. We hope to make this an annual trip.

Fantastic Retreat for a Group

  • 5 of 5

This was a truly perfect house for our two families to enjoy a week together. The common rooms were big and inviting. The large dining table was the place for many a memorable meal. We enjoyed evenings out on the patio with the firepit. The beds and bedding were all comfortable- including both pull-out sofas. And the teenagers thoroughly enjoyed the ping pong and foosball tables in the garage. I would definitely return here again and recommend to anyone looking for a great place to make a home away from home.

  • 5 of 5

A luxury house, very nice looking, very comfortable. All the amenities including decent wifi, and last but not the least a great host!!!

Mark was there with advice for all our questions, from where best to buy groceries to what time should we best go on a popular trail. The guy is amazing.

Great Place for the whole family

  • 5 of 5

We rented both the Apen Haus and Apen Den for our family gathering of 16 (8 adults, 8 kids). The house was very nice and clean. We had everything we needed from a well stocked kitchen to plenty of towels for our large group. There were many nice touches such as shampoo, etc. in the bathrooms and laundry detergent for the washer. There was plenty of space for us all to gather together, but also lots of different areas so we could find our own space when needed. The kids enjoyed playing with the many board games, the games in the garage, and the recreational area. It was nice that the house was locked with a keypad so everyone could come and go as they pleased and not have to worry about a key. Mark was wonderful to work with. He met us right when we arrived to make sure everything was in order and to answer any questions we had. If I were every in Glenwood Springs again, I wouldn't hesitate to stay at one of Mark's places again.

Super property---had a great time!

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed here for a family reunion in Glenwood Springs. The location was great and so pretty---very nicely landscaped! The kids loved the yard. It was a very quick and easy (10 min.) drive into Glenwood Springs to go to the hot springs pool and our reunion activities. The open living room/family room and kitchen areas were just wonderful for visiting with relatives. After the "official" reunion, many relatives came up to the house just to hang out and visit, and everyone loved it! The multiple outdoor areas and the garage with its ping pong table and games were super! The house was clean and well-stocked with everything we needed---towels, paper goods, dishes, etc. There is a full size fridge and freezer right in the kitchen. Loved the farm style sink and the 8 burner gas stove (even though we didn't cook this visit)!!! The photos don't really do it justice.

We rented both Alpine Haus and Alpine Den, which was great for our son and his wife, who have 2 little children. Mark was so helpful and very easy to work with. The property felt secluded even though there are other houses nearby. Very enjoyable weekend and we hope to have another family gathering here soon!
