About Susan Larson
We love Jackson in both winter and summer, with all it has to offer in pristine beauty. Our home reflects that beauty from its gorgeous granite and barn wood exterior, lush furnishings and spectacular mountain views from nearly every window. This is our home and retreat for our large circle of family and friends. We would love to share it with you.
Susan Larson purchased this House in 2015
Why Susan Larson chose River Meadows
We settled on Jackson for its remote beauty and limited development. Everything is close. The town of Jackson is short 20 minute drive, as is the Jackson Hole Mountain resort for skiing and summer activities. The town of Wilson, with Nora's, Moo's, Pearl Street Bagel and TGR is 10 minutes away. Excellent restaurants are close by on the way to either destination. And Yellowstone is a doable day trip, 90 minutes away.
What makes this House unique

We enjoyed the house. It was a bit further from the action than we thought, but found we enjoyed the drive each day due to the number of moose along the way. We developed a daily moose count.
We were disappointed that the owners wouldn't clear the snow from their deck so that we could enjoy sitting out and taking in the view. The fire pit was, thus, unusable, which was part of the appeal of the house when we rented it. Had some excuse about snow coming off the roof which, of course, happens. It's a ski house. I think they just didn't want to go to the trouble and expense. I would suggest they not make it part of their promotion if that continues to be the case.
Also, we had a dozen people and the hot water ran low for showers after a full day of skiing. This could be attributed to the steam room use, which was a wonderful amenity as was the sauna.
The house was very nice. We had fun.
Thanks for the review. We are glad you enjoyed the house and all the mooses.
I am sorry you were unable to use the fire pit. But that is why we stock the house with fire wood for the 3 fireplaces inside.
As I explained, the fire pit on the deck cannot be used in winter. The house is constructed so that all the snow on the roof slides off into the deck and around the house. This happens randomly and unexpectedly when the snow gets heavy or warm. The snow pack can be 3-4 feet high and seem like a small avalanche when it lets go. It poses a significant danger to anyone or anything on the deck. We don't open the deck in winter because we don't want anyone getting hurt by a slide of wet heavy snow. The fire pit is operational as soon as the snow stops.
Fantastic vacation with 6 couples at Stone House
Had a fantastic time at Stone House 2/8-2/13/2018. The house was everything as described. Susan helped find a chef and masseuse for our group as well. Thoroughly enjoyed the ability to all sit together around the enormous kitchen table for meals, then watch the Olympics in the living room with a nice roaring fire. The neighborhood is peaceful and quiet, which was exactly what we were looking for. Appreciated being able to bring my dog as well, who enjoyed meeting the neighbor dogs. Highly recommend the Stone House, especially for large groups.
Very beautiful and comfortable home
Very beautiful and comfortable home. It is well laid out and well-equipped… I little bit of a drive if you intend to spend a lot of time with you and grand Teton Park itself… But wonderfully quiet and beautiful neighborhood
The Stone House is the Perfect Family Vacation Home
Our family of 11 adults (28 to 67) just spent a week in Wilson, Wyoming at the Stone House. The 6+ bedroom 4+ bathrooms, with an enormous fully stocked kitchen and dinning room to accommodate all of us comfortably. Susan and her son, Kevin, were very attentive and provided excellent advice on a private chef and local activities. While we did not have any children, the Stone House could easily accommodate small children. We spent most of the time in the kitchen and around the fire-pit. We give the highest recommendation and could easily see ourselves coming back for another visit.
Awesome vacation for a big family!
We cannot say enough great things about this house. The view is spectacular and the house, itself, has everything you need for a great vacation. The location of the house is convenient to Wilson and Jackson, nestled in Aspen trees with a moose wandering often in the yard. The master is amazing and the other rooms very generous with space. We loved the decks with a fire pit and gas grill. The owner is very accommodating and has good attention to detail in making sure our stay was comfortable and convenient. We would love to stay here again.
Our winter Ski Getaway
Our extended family (16 of us), including Father, Married children and grown grandchildren spent a fabulous week at the Stonehouse. The accommodations were as advertised although the Futons will suitable for only one adult, not two. The owner, Sue, met us upon our arrival and pointed out the house features. The house was well provided with all essentials. The house is located in a beautiful area with views of the surrounding mountains. Our expectations were fully met
