Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms, 1.5 Baths, Sleeps 7-8

Welcome to Ridge View Cottage!

This cottage has a large covered porch providing outdoor dining and lounging for family and friends. It has both a gas grill and picnic table. Indoors, there is a glassed in porch with a sitting area and a queen sized futon for extra sleeping. The living room is equipped with a TV and DVD player. There is a half bath with laundry on the first floor, along with a kitchen that has been recently renovated and well-stocked. The upstairs has one bedroom with a queen bed, one bedroom with a double bed, and one loft area with a twin bed. The upstairs bathroom has also recently been remodeled and a walk-in shower was added. This wonderful vacation home sleeps 6 -8 comfortably.

The view is spectacular: glorious sunrises in the morning, and beautiful sunsets in the evening. Enjoy both from the full length glassed-in porch that faces east to west and out to Sebec Lake. There's also an outside fire-pit for cozy evening fires and outdoor relaxation (wood is not provided). Boats and kayaks are available nearby for rent, as well as hiking trails and public lands.

The water frontage is clear, with a pebble beach area. A dock site is also available for those who choose to bring their own boat. WiFi is also available for those who want to stay connected! (But if you want to 'unplug' for the week - that's fine too!)

Ridge View Cottage sits at the edge of Sebec Lake in the heart of the Maine wilderness. While quiet and rural, you’re never too far from civilization: Dover-Foxcroft is 15 minutes away, and Bangor is an hour’s drive South-East. We’re also close to Gulf Hagas, Mt. Katahdin/Baxter State Park, Borestone Mountain, and Greenville. All the peace and quiet of the Maine woods, with the comforts of home!

We do require that there is no smoking, or pets allowed. Thank you!

Impecably clean, peaceful, all ammenities needed/wanted available. Wonderful week in Sebec.

There's a good deal I could say about this week on Sebec Lake, and I'll try to share the highlights of a perfect relaxing week. Now, Joe (and Hillary) are deserving of a good deal of the credit, but I'd be amiss by not mentioning their choice of a cleaning staff should also be credited, and if you don't mind me saying so (and even if you do), God, too, played his part as well. As noted, the camp couldn't have been neater nor cleaner - that's important to me! And no necessary kitchen implement was wanting. All big points for the Carusos!!!

The weather was perfect the entire stay. As the fog and mist burned of the mirror-like lake each morning, the foliage on the south side glowed while reflected in the water. Big points for God here. I'd credit Joe, but I just can't do that, now can I? Early morning proved to be an excellent time to grab a canoe paddle as the sun hit the northern shore. Wow!!!!

Value? This was quite the bargain particularly considering my wife and I shared the expense with our daughter and family. I believe this was after peak rental season, the place was deserted both on and off the lake - I saw one pontoon boat only, no neighbors, only some squirrels, chipmunks, and a lone loon. Sad to say not a nibble on the line nor moose in the surrounding environs. But the foliage was peak or close. We'll give God a small ding here, I suspect He can handle it.!?!?!

Finally, let me say as an upstate New Yorker, should I have ever moved, it would be to upper Maine coast.

So, thanks for sharing this piece of heaven with this old coot and his daughter and family and grandsons ( 4 and 1.5 yrs.) .

Maine Lakeside relaxation...a great spot!

  • 5 of 5

Joe and Kimberly were great- very responsive throughout the process. The house is great - and provided not only a quiet relaxing lakeside retreat for us, but also a launch pad for two trips to Baxter State Park - one for a Katahdin hike and one for a Penobscot rafting day. Another nearby hike up Borestone Mt. was easily scheduled. Rented a boat from Merrill Marina one day for waterskiing and fishing. There’s lots to do - or - just read a book on the beautiful porch and listen to the loons. Again - Joe was great - we’d do it again in a heartbeat.

Quiet Vacation Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Joe and Hillary's camp in mid-July and despite the peak vacation week, it was very quiet at the lake. If you are looking for a quiet destination where you can unwind, unplug, and hunker down for the week at a lakefront home, this is your place. Our children enjoyed swimming, kayaking, and fishing. This is a quiet part of the lake with not a lot of boat traffic - so I felt perfectly safe letting the kids go out on the kayaks. We rode bikes up and down the hilly, dirt roads, climbed Borestone Mountain, went to Bangor on a rainy day, and explored the nearby towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Milo, where you can go for groceries if needed. Most major attractions are an hour or more away, so plan accordingly (or don't go anywhere - definitely no need with the beautiful lake at your doorstep). I'd be hard-pressed to cite any "cons", but if I did, I'd complain that we never saw a single moose! Lots of deer nearby and loons on the lake, though. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Awesome! Great place.

The picturesque cabin was directly on a beautiful lake complete with a giant porch. The cabin was clean and absolutely perfect. Included was a hammock, kayaked and a fire pit. Our 3 children spent their days outside all day swimming in the lake, biking and kayaking. It was truly more than we could of hoped for! Can’t wait to go back next year.

Loved the house. It was the perfect getaway. We wanted a nice mellow quiet getaway and that’s what we got. I have done a lot of getaway and by far this house and property was my favorite so far. And the owner is really nice too.
