This cabin is amazing. The hot tub is great after long hikes through the national forest. You definitely feel like you're the only one on the mountain.
The hot tub was great after long hikes. The space is very comfortable. The area is quiet and secluded, about 15 minutes north of Luray and half an hour from the entrance to Shenandoah Park.
Weekend in heaven! The cabin was spotless, cozy and comfortable. We loved exploring Luray and then relaxing in the hot tub at night. Derek was super responsive and shared all the important information with us. We couldn’t have asked for a better ladies weekend away!
Great location for hiking in Shenandoah...it is conveniently placed for two entrances to the park. Shopping for groceries, etc was convenient in either Front Royal or Luray. The VRBO was clean and comfortable. Two "minor" inconveniences were the TV that required casting from my phone and I would prefer that the host add 50 to the rental fee rather than charging that as an "extra". The host was responsive.

We are glad you enjoyed your stay at Solitude. We appreciate your feedback on our linen policy. In order to offer a lower rate and better last minute deals, we allow our guests to choose to bring their own linens or to request the linen service and pay the additional $50 fee. We have had great success with this policy as many guests prefer to save a little money. As for the TV, it is a Smart TV and you can login to your accounts to watch the shows of your choice. Or you can cast from your device. Either way, you can watch the programming of your choosing.
Place is amazing. Beautiful, quiet, romantic and perfect for a little getaway for us. Would recommend for anyone who needs a trip away from reality. Will be back again
We had an amazing stay at Solitude! The cabin was cozy, warm, and perfectly secluded—exactly what we needed for a relaxing weekend getaway. The peacefulness, privacy, and cleanliness of the home were definite highlights. The cabin was easy to find, and the location made it simple to explore the surrounding areas. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed, and the hot tub—perfectly placed right outside the primary bedroom—made slipping in and out incredibly convenient and added such a nice touch to the experience. The owner was wonderful to work with and very accommodating throughout the process. We had such a great time that we’re already looking at the calendar and planning our next visit. It’s easy to see why this cabin is rated so highly.
excellent location. Awesome floor plan for this one bedroom one bath cabin. Was very clean and had a perfect view of Shenandoah River.Bed was vm very comfy, large full bathroom & great four person hot tub on the front porch overlooking a great view of the river. Even with it being 90 at night we enjoyed the hot temps of the hot tub. Can’t wait to come back in the spring when everything is green. Highly recommend this cabin. The host was super on communication A

We are very glad you enjoyed your stay at our cabin. However, just to clarify for future guests, there is no "view of the river" from the cabin nor do we advertise it as such. The river is accessible from the cabin by walking along the road for about 3/4 mile. There is a very nice winter view of the Massanutten Mountain from the cabin. We hope you can come again soon to enjoy Solitude.
The cabin is beautiful the host is great!! Always answering you right away for any questions !! We will go back we just feel so relaxed and peaceful as soon as we get there. I would recommend this cabin to everyone
This cabin is as exactly as promised. It is the perfect secluded retreat and getaway location. The amenities and house are well taken care of. During our stay, we had an issue with the hot water. In this day and age, it would be so easy to lose your cool, but we can't say enough about how responsive the owners were to take care of this problem and stay in contact with us regarding the issue. Not every host will do that. We sincerely hope to get back in the future.
This place was fantastic, I would actually say it was better than advertised. It was clean, cute, and private. My only complaint is I think the bedding policy is unusual, with that said it was not a big deal at all. I would highly recommend this spot and plan to stay again.
First and foremost the pictures do not do this place justice. When we arrived, the first impression was perfect, clean, spacious, warm, inviting and the views are remarkable. There is a simplicity about the property.. the views from the hot tub cant be explained… oh and by day two we were welcomed by an amazing family of deer..these little surprises given by Mother Nature will keep us coming back! We came to celebrate our 10th New Year together and we can’t wait to come back to celebrate anything else! If you’re thinking about booking.. do it- you won’t regret it!
I was nearly in tears when we arrived here, so beautiful and peaceful is this amazing place! It's called "Solitude"--I'd call it "Serenity." A deep breath of the pristine forest air, and we stepped inside to discover the lovely, peaceful (yes, again) surroundings, all well-planned, thought-out, and arranged. There are so many windows, the outside is truly brought inside...and what could be better than a hot tub on the front porch, right outside the bedroom?! The kitchen is well-equipped, lighting is abundant, the shower expansive, front porch welcoming, screened porch a sweet hide-away, and there's even a grill and a chair on the small "back porch." Truly, we couldn't have been happier-or so joyfully removed from the rest of the world. If you're looking for a beautiful, comfortable escape, this is it! I must also add that, if you'd like a fine dining experience, be sure to make a reservation and go to The Chop House, in Luray. It's elegant, with superb food and service (and you can go pretty casually-folks come in after hiking)! Also, a fellow diner at The Gathering Grounds, also in Luray (great brunch!), suggested Shenandoah Caverns, rather than Luray Caverns, and we loved it. Finally, we had a very good dinner at The Speakeasy in Minslyn Hotel, a most beautiful, old place. Our only objection was loud, raucous music from a speaker nearby. And, of course, traveling the Skyline Drive in Shenandoah Nat'l Park on our return to eastern VA. What a fabulous experience, all-around!
Solitude- could not see/hear any neighbors except the owls at night! Spacious, clean, comfy bed. Everything as described. Nice to have grocery store relatively close.

About the host
Hosted by Derek Goebel
Woodside Cabins is family owned and operated. Olga and I have been in the vacation cabin business for 20 years and take great pride in our properties. I grew up in the area and we both have a deep love and appreciation for the Blue Ridge Mountains and our beautiful Shenandoah Valley.
Why they chose this property
Solitude is exactly what the word implies. As you drive back the driveway and enter a world of towering white pines you will feel the woods encompass you. Built in 2015, the cabin was designed to bring the world outside into the interior. Numerous windows offer exceptional views of the surrounding woods and a glimpse of the mountains through the trees. Come and enjoy a world you can only find in someplace like Solitude.
