The best villa in Tuscany!!!

  • 5 of 5

Our favorite rental among many we have tried. We had the fortune of staying at this house for a week in May. This really was just the perfect rental for a Tuscan getaway and our favorite among the many we have rented over the past few years in Tuscany. 30 min drive to Sienna and similar access to the many charming smaller towns in the area. It was everything advertised and more. The “more” part was how much time, detail and help that Stefan and Beatrice gave to us from the first email to them to our final communications after our trip was complete. Beatrice gave us a very warm welcome reception upon our arrival on the first day. She could not have been nicer to us. Her tour of the house and grounds made us feel right at home immediately. She was always available to us through our stay if we needed her, which made us feel connected to someone should we have a question during our stay. The lovely welcome basket was thoughtful and appreciated as we made dinner the first evening. The villa was gorgeous inside and out and was impeccably clean. The house is very centrally located to many of the Tuscan hill towns. Great home base for us as we drove daily to different towns, cooking classes, and vineyards. The villa had beautiful grounds and views of the surrounding rolling hills. So relaxing and peaceful especially at the pool and watching the stars on the terrace at night. The house was very well appointed so we were able to prepare food and cook easily with the accommodations. We felt so at home! We would totally recommend this villa to anyone looking for a quality and picturesque rental property run by people who care about their renters. It was a magical vacation and the villa was a huge part of that special memory.

Lovely location in the Chianti region

  • 5 of 5

My family and I spent a lovely week here in late August. The property was just as described, very clean, and had lovely views over the Tuscan countryside. The way the light changes at the end of the day was truly magical. The pool was a really nice feature too, especially for our boys who used it daily.

Esther and Stefan were very easy and pleasant to work with, and provided a lot of useful advice and information on the region, both in their email communications and in a binder in the villa. Jalissa, their local representative, was very helpful and efficient too -- checking and out were a breeze as a result.

Overall an excellent experience and one I would heartily recommend to anyone looking for a base in the southern end of the Chianti region.

Owner's Response: These lovely guests clearly enjoyed what we offer - Country House living in one of the most beautiful settings in Tuscany. La Cappella, in it's setting, on the highest point of an historic wine estate, compares with anywhere. The central location is ideal for day trips to the "must see" towns and villages; within easy reach of top notch eateries and famous wineries; supplied with a generous welcome hamper of quality foods and treats to forestall the need to go shopping on arrival; is just another thing that we provide to be sure guests get the most out of their time with us, by allowing them to plan visits, tours, restaurant bookings ahead of time. You really have summarised exactly why we bought Villa La Cappella 3 years ago! We offer our guests the opportunity to share our "dolce vita" for a time, and you clearly made the most of it.

Wonderful Spot

  • 5 of 5

Esther and Stefan have created a wonderful rental villa in an idyllic spot. The location of the Villa (within an estate) provides sweeping views and an air of peacefulness only dreamed about by most city dwellers.

There is a very large, covered terrace, from where you can see the surrounding

country and the gardens. Located next to the terrace and the Villa among olive trees, is the new heated private pool just too inviting to enjoy the all-day sun of the southern exposure.

The pool terrace is a charming oasis of recreation and silence.

The property is extremely well equipped for renters, we know this because we have stayed in over 10 other villa's like this across Europe and this is by far the best equipped. The welcome pack, of wine, pasta, tomatoes, olive oil etc is enough to get you through your first night which is much appreciated. We have stayed in places that don't even have any salt. They were fabulous hosts to us, providing guidance when required but not in your face. I thoroughly recommended staying here.

Owner's Response: This friendly party from Australia and England were able to experience some of the many delights of Tuscany but at the same time, appreciating the comforts of the Villa and its beautiful surroundings, like a home away from home. They enjoed the swimming pool with the beautiful view over the hills of the Chianti area with unique sunsets. "Only the best for our guests" has always been the most important thing for us! Peace & Tranquility

Now I have to wait a whole year to return. Probably the highlight to our two month stay in Italy! The villa was exactly as pictured and described. Clean, nicely furnished, 3 bedrooms and 3-1/2 baths. The outdoor patio and attached pool were the best place in the am and eve.

Owner's Response: Grazie mille William! It's a joy for us to know that you all had a wonderful time in our Villa La Cappella. We know that you work carefully choosing the right location and places to visit to make this holiday memorable. We are also happy to read that our place was the highlight of your two month tour trough Italy. After a daytrip it is great to have a break on the outdoor patio with the attached pool and enjoy the view. It will be a pleasure to host all of you again , many thanks, Esther & Stefan

A fantastic villa in an ideal location

  • 5 of 5

We invited two couples to share this three-bedroom villa with us for the last week of May. Upon leaving, we all agreed it was wonderful. The house was spotless, the kitchen was well-equipped, the washing machine was a breeze to operate, the living room furniture was comfortable to sit on, and the views from the terrace are fantastic. The house is every bit as beautiful as the photos show. We dined al fresco most evenings.

Although the dirt road leading to the house can be a challenging drive up and down steep hills, that road is well-maintained and was not a problem. We appreciated that Jalissa met us in Castelnuovo Berardenga and guided us to the house upon our arrival, since it would be easy to get lost due to many turnoffs along the way. The route takes you through fairly dense woods, so you know you're far from traffic noise. Covered parking was provided for two cars. We were told we should park the third car directly behind the other two. But we were in luck that an adjacent house (within the same fenced enclosure) was not occupied when we were there; we made use of that house's covered parking space.

The bedroom windows are all screened, allowing you to leave them open at night in summer without having to battle mosquitos. I loved that each of the three full bathrooms had beautiful stone showers.

The description mentioned three ensuite bedrooms. I always thought ensuite meant you did not have to leave the privacy of a bedroom to visit the bathroom, but one of the full baths was actually in the central hallway between the two upstairs bedrooms. It was a bit of an inconvenience for the couple staying in that room, since no one had brought robes to Italy.

I did not find the mattress comfortable, perhaps due to my bad back and the fact that I'm used to memory foam. The mattress was on a par with other houses I've rented in Italy. No one else in our party had any complaints about the mattresses, so it may just be me. I appreciated the generously sized closets in the upstairs bedrooms.

We really enjoyed visiting the beautiful nearby villages of San Gusme and Montebenichi. On our last night the first weekend of June, we enjoyed dinner in the restaurant in Montebenichi, which had opened for the season the night before. We also made very easy day trips to Siena, Pienza, Montepulciano and Arezzo.

We all made much use of the swimming pool at the end of each day. All in all, this was a most memorable place to stay.

Owner's Response: This is such a helpful review, as it shows just how much our special part of Tuscany offers, EVEN IN THE MID SEASON! There are so many restaurants to choose from, and La Cappella is central to, and close to so many "must see" places (Siena 20 minutes, San Gimignano 45, Florence an hour). The group made good use during their stay from Jalissa our experienced guide for all needs. She is available from the moment you book, to help plan ahead to get the most out of your vacation. You really have summarised exactly why we bought La Cappella 3 years ago! We are spoilt foodies, who have been fortunate enought see many beautiful parts of the world, and La Cappella, in it's setting, on the highest point of an historic wine estate, compares with anywhere. We offer our guests the opportunity to share our "dolce vita" for a time, and you clearly made the most of it including swimming often in our new heatet exlusive pool next to the terasse. We hope you do come again!

Very nice villa, well equipped. Very good 'meet & greet' service by Jalissa. Plenty of shade and sun.

Only downside, it is a 15 minute drive, along gravel roads to the nearest shops & restauruants.

Overall a very enjoyable stay
