New Year's in Kihei

My wife and I flew to Maui with our 3 sons (age 12-18) for New Year's and this condo in Kihei was a great place to stay. Condo - Great complex with view of the ocean. Allowed for watching sunset from the lanai. Tons of amenities - putting green, shuffleboard, pool, many BBQs, amply parking, activity desk, huge grass area and of course, close access to quiet beach. There are also tons of beach accessories in the unit (chairs, umbrellas, coolers, snorkel gear, etc) which makes things easier than renting.Size - 2 bedrooms with 5 total beds was perfect for our family. Having 2 bathrooms was a plus. Great living space with solid kitchen. Nice Lanai for lounging. Location - Located on the north end of Kihei allowed for access everywhere. Only a few minute drive to the heart of Kihei and many beach options. Only 20 minutes from the airport. Quiet enough location that you have your privacy but still close enough to activities, pool and beach.More - we were able to get an early check-in which allowed us to start the vacation a bit earlier and drop all our luggage off at the condo to enjoy the rest of the afternoon. Huge thanks to Renata for that accommodation.She is a great host and VERY communicative. She provided a list of recommendations (beaches, restaurants, sights, etc) that helped in planning our trip. I would highly recommend this unit.

We enjoyed our time in Maui. It was perfect to wake up each day in such an excellent spot and end the day with a good rest. High recommend.

Wonderful Apartment and Facility

The property is just fantastic, with everything you need, well beyond my expectation. The owner (not the management) is very nice: messaged me and called me right after my booking with a quick nice conversation. The check-in/out was a bit hiccup. The door code started/stopped working exactly after 4pm and before 11am, respectively. No flexibility at all.

Lovely grounds, relaxing lanai

The grounds of Maui Sunset are stunning with something for everyone. The BBQs are cleaned daily and better kept than ours at home! The unit itself was spacious enough for 5 adults, and we made use of the comfortable seating and fantastic views on the lanai. New washer/dryer unit came in handy during our 10-day stay, and the AC was clutch during the heat wave our first few days and at night. Good location--20 minutes from OGG, and close drive to groceries, dining and beaches. However, the location is not particularly walkable as there is no sidewalk on the highway for a while, so you definitely need a car. And we had trouble finding a pot or pan that didn't have worn, scratched non-stick. The cooking utensils also need a refresh. But overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Maui Paradise

This was one of the best accommodations we have ever stayed at. The unit had plenty of room, two full bathrooms, very clean and was affordable. The unit was stocked extremely well. It had everything you would need plus more including dishes, pots and pans, towels, beach chairs and boogie boards. Perfect for families or larger groups. It was awesome.

Great stay!

We enjoyed our stay at this property! It was centrally located on the island and was very quiet. The kids enjoyed the pool, shuffle board, and the tennis courts. We appreciated being able to walk to the beach for sunsets and in the morning. It wasn’t a great beach for swimming, but that was okay. The lanai was very nice and we spent a lot of time out there. Renata got in touch before our stay. Her information about the property and the island was helpful, especially as we had never been to Maui before. We enjoyed the property and would stay there again.

Relaxing Getaway

Our family spent 9 nights at this condo and loved every second of it. The condo was spacious and clean, with absolutely everything needed to make for a great stay, including ample beach gear for our family of four. The lanai was the perfect place to relax in the shade after hot days on the beach or exploring the island. The resort facility itself was wonderful with well kept grounds, a large pool and hot tub, and lots of other outdoor activities. The resort is beachside with a beautiful sunset view every night. The host was amazing and went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Communication was excellent and she gave us so many tips that made our visit better.

The pros outweighed the cons

Pros: can’t beat the location, the grounds, the view! The beds were so comfortable! The supply of beach toys and towels were amazing! The window AC units were nice to cool down the apartment on warm afternoons, then we just used ceiling fans at night. The kitchen was well supplied ( so much so that all cupboards were full of dishes and pots so no room to store food) Cons: a few maintenance issues need attention( bathroom drawers in master bath, slow draining sink in Master bath) the amount of starter soap and shampoo is a little bit of a joke—1 little tube of body wash, 2 of shampoo, and one of conditioner, and a couple of small bars of soap, for 4 people, 6 days. Most VRBO I’ve stayed at lately have large pump bottles of the above. Not that I minded having to buy more, just hated having to spend my vacation time doing that. Also, both bathrooms bottles of handsoap were empty when we arrived, so we had to buy some . The kitchen and laundry supplies were adequate. One more con, we arrived after 5 on a Saturday. After office hours but I was told no problem, use the phone outside the office and someone will help you after hours to get a pool and parking pass. When I called a most uninterested person said, no way was I getting a pool pass or parking pass until office hours on Monday. So we missed out on the pool on Saturday night and all day Sunday. At the end of the week I Asked the family what kind of review I should leave, and we all agreed, the pros definitely outweighed the cons! We loved Maui Sunset 408a.

Great location and property!

We had a wonderful time staying at their property. The condo had everything we needed for a family Hawaiian vacation. Beach chairs, towels, boogie boards and extra blankets were all provided. The owners were gracious and helpful hosts responding to questions and offering tips and suggestions. Definitely recommend and will be returning!

Incredible

This was a great rental! It was so refreshing to have a bed for everyone, as a family of 5 that never happens! The two bathrooms were also super helpful for us. The accommodation was perfect, but more than anything so was the owner! She was so helpful, giving us ideas of things to do, places to eat, etc. She went above and beyond for us, a late checkout was no problem either. She kept in contact to ensure all was well. I can’t say enough, we can’t wait to stay here again!

Special 1st Time visit to Maui

Maui 2022

The family was torn about location. It is a good location because the distance to many activities on the island were closer than being in Lahaina, especially if you are driving yourself. Neighbourhood seems to have less tourists, resorts/ condos are not high rises. The few beaches we visited on this side were rocky, beach shoes would have been nice, for our liking. There are sandy areas but, more rocky. Saw more fish on the Kaanapali beach side. Lots of activities on the property, pool ( large and clean), shuffle board, pickle ball, tennis to name a few. Property is well maintained.. The condo is also well maintained, the pictures are accurate. It was great to have beach chairs, umbrella and cooler available. It is a comfortable place like a home away from home! The AC was useful when we were in the room, it maybe the time of year but, breezes through the lanai were limited but, definitely cooling. More breeze came through the door. It’s a nice area with restaurants, shave ice, Longs drug store, snorkelling shops to rent what you need. There are definitely things I am missing. A smaller beach down the road near the Humpback whale marine sanctuary, always has turtles and is an area good for families with small children:-) Thank you for opening up your place for us to enjoy!

Condo is stocked with all the goods you need for the beach! From reservation to check out was so simple! Owner and management company were great! We will definitely come back!

Above & Beyond

In short - the whole week went above and beyond expectations. We loved the condo, which was exceptionally well stocked from toys to towels. The people were friendly, the town close by and the snorkeling at Big Beach was amazing. Won't be going back to Kanapali again. Thanks to Joe, the night security - very engaging .

Perfect

Perfect for families. Very nice property, and great price. Awesome snorkeling just down the street. Less crowded beautiful beaches, not fighting with thousands of people for same sand. Food on this side of island soooo much better and far more choices than typical. Don’t miss the hui hui chicken and ribs at Kihei market on wed and sat. Souvenirs cheaper than resort shops as well. Owner called to give tips and was so nice. Unit had all the beach gear you’ll need, except your snorkels. Will stay there again for sure.

Beautiful Kihei Condo

This beautiful condo is really well furnished and supplied - one of the best we have experienced. From staples like coffee, salt and pepper, paper products and linens to extras like snorkel equipment, lawn chairs and sun umbrellas Renata has thought of everything. All the furniture was high quality and very comfortable. We had email and phone communication with Renata before our arrival in Kihei and she was always friendly and most helpful and she called after we arrived to make sure all was well. There was no dining table on the lanai but there was a small wicker table and chairs that we took in and out for our breakfast and dinner so all was well there. Our only disappointment was that the sun was directly on the lanai for much of the day and it was too hot in the direct sun to enjoy the furniture and the view.

Wonderful Stay on The Beach in Kihei

Great clean location in Kihei right on the beach. Check in process was simple and fast, place was nice ready when we got there. There were a few minor issues and questions and Renata took care of them immediately. Would definitely recommend this place as a good starting point for the exploration of Maui!

Maui Sunset has immaculate grounds, a large pool and friendly guests of all ages, many who return here year after year. We have been visiting Maui for years and loved this resort the most. It is our beautiful second home and we hope you will feel that way when you stay here too!

The view from our lanai is of Mt. Haleakala to the left and the ocean to the right. There are shuffleboard and tennis courts, putting green and manicured grass areas great for kids to play or to sit under a palm tree and enjoy the views. Tennis racquets and bocce ball sets are free and kayaks/paddleboards are available to rent. You can book all your island excursions at the pool activity desk at great prices!
