About this property

Newly Available -Spacious, classic Fire Island family home with modern amenities

This comfortable, roomy, two-story house, lovingly maintained, is ideally located on a quiet block, seconds from the beach and a few minutes walk to Ocean Beach’s wonderful restaurants, grocery stores and boutiques. The fully renovated kitchen has quartz counter tops, a full set of non-stick pots and pans, and a large refrigerator. The roomy living room has a “smart” HD television with DirectTV, a stereo system, WiFi (Internet access) and lots of games and puzzles for the kids. Common rooms downstairs and all but one of the upstairs bedrooms are equipped with quiet, individually programmed AC/heat. Enjoy meals in the handsomely furnished dining room, or grill steaks and relax on the spacious back deck.

Upstairs, the roomy master bedroom, second bedroom and lovely porch bedroom all have have comfortable mattresses. The middle bedroom has two single beds, perfect for kids. The downstairs bedroom also has a single bed.

White Caps is usually not available due to long time and repeat direct book tenants. This year's availability on VRBO is unique.

Initially this was not my first choice because the photos do not compare to the actual look of the home. In person it’s a thousand times better. I was worried..... nevertheless we managed to great use of the amenities in the area. They are are team to rent from and I would do it again.

Beautiful house about 30 seconds from the beach. The house was clean and had all accommodations. The hosts were extremely responsive and accommodating. We’ve been taking our summer vacation in Fire Island for 7 years now and I think we have finally found our go-to house for the years to come.

Perfect place to spend a relaxing week!

Everything was smooth from the beginning. The owners reached out with emails and texts and gave me tips. The place was exactly as described. Clean, very comfortable and we had everything we needed. The kitchen was well supplied and even had skewers, which we had forgotten. The beach is a very short walk from the house and the owners provided all that was needed for a day by the water. Fire Island was a breath of fresh air - literally and figuratively- much needed in these covid time. My daughter said “this is the kind of place a Grandma has so the whole family can come and be together. Sums it up perfectly.I would highly recommend.

Lovely, classic Fire Island family home

You can tell this family home has been loved and cherished by generations of kids and parents. It offers everything you need to enjoy your trips to the beach, back deck cookouts, and biking around town. It has that classic Fire Island family home feel--casual, relaxed, OK to get some sand on the floorboards. The outdoor shower is fantastic, and it's mere steps to the beach, on a very pretty block. It's the perfect sized house for two families. The owners are also very nice and communicative.

We've been coming to the Island since we were toddlers. Our father, a Broadway lyricist and sitcom script writer, fell in love with the place shortly after leaving the army, back in the Forties. As children, we spent some of the happiest times of our lives out here. We come out with our families in the spring and fall, a beautiful, quiet time. Fire Island has weathered many storms, and a fair amount of development, but remains essentially the same: a haven for those of us who love it.

Why they chose this property

This is a family vacation home, full of happy memories, comfortable yet modern in all the important ways. Fire Island is an enchanted place, a Shangri la as our father used to call it. With no roads and few vehicles, the air smells clean and sweet. Through the open windows facing the beach, you can hear and feel the ocean breathing. Walk east or west and you will encounter a series of communities, each with its own unique character. Take a dip, build sandcastles with the kids, come back home for a hot shower, then drinks and something tasty on the deck. It's a tradition!
