About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms, 4 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

For anyone who has ever been to Ireland, you know how truly relaxing it can be. But for those of you have been to the West coast you have also experienced the true magic of this country. This house is in a remarkable location with the Aran Islands in front of you and the Burren behind. Virtually every window has a postcard view. And although the views are spectacular, the house has a warmth all its own. The moment you step in the front door, you will feel like you are home. Maybe that's why we have so many people come back year after year. Or maybe it's the truly wonderful friends we have in the area who make you feel more like family than a visitor.

Three of the rooms have king size beds with bathrooms en suite. The fourth room has two twin beds with a bathroom just outside the door. The living room has a gorgeous hand carved stone fireplace and two-story ceilings with skylights.

For those of you who wish to leave the house you will find abundant entertainment. There is a gorgeous sand beach just down the road. For the golfers in your group there is a world-class golf course just a few towns over in Lahinch. Also in Lahinch you will find some of the country's best surfing. (And, although Fanore is not yet reknowned for its surfing, there is a surf school every summer.) And for those of you music lovers, Doolin is just one town over and is renowned for its traditional Irish music in addition to many incredible restaurants. But for those who wish to explore Fanore, you will find amazing scenic walks and some of the best angling in the country.

The house is just up the road from O'Donohue's Pub and a small grocery shop. Both are within walking distance.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The house was beautiful. Exactly how it looks in the pictures.

We flew into Dublin and immediately drove to Fanore. The drive was easy and

we arrived in about 3 1/2 hours. The house was welcoming and Anna arrived

to welcome us and explain the layout and details. She was welcoming and

There were 7 of us and the house was more than big enough as every couple

had their own room and bath. One room did not have a shower, but besides

this small thing which was easily worked out, it was perfect.

We ate a few times down the road at the blue pub (the name escapes me, but

it was great), The publican (owner) even gave us some of his brown bread for

breakfast. What a great guy. Also try to visit Monk's Restaurant which is north

along the coast, great seafood.

We were easily able to see Galway, the Burren, the Cliffs of Moher and more.

We even made longer day trips to see things like the Dingle Peninsula and the

shrine at Knock. Those made for long days, but were doable if you did the

short days in between.

While we were visiting, the owners were staying at the stone house next door

and they were delightful to meet. We felt very lucky to meet them and they

showed us the stone house which was also breathtaking and great for a

smaller group.

Overall, we loved our experience in Ireland, and the bridge house was a large

factor in a great trip.

VRBO Bear stayed here

There is no better place to learn to love Ireland than the Bridge House in Fanore, County Clare. From the moment the Bear and our party crossed over the bridge and walked through the front door, we were struck with how spacious and warm the house felt. The closeness of the beach and the Atlantic arrested our attention as we looked out through the large living room windows. My wife and I enjoyed our stay in the master bedroom because of its stunning ocean view and comfortable king bed. We were delighted to learn the rest of our party also had lovely views of the Atlantic from their rooms’ vantages. Each meal we prepared in the Bridge House’s well-appointed kitchen felt as if we were in our own home. The living room offered a comfortable place to visit and to enjoy each other’s company. We enjoyed lighting a fire in the fireplace each evening as we settled in for the night. While the Bridge House offered relaxing seclusion, we enjoyed walking to O’Donahue’s pub for lively conversation. The neighbors of the Bridge House, and our lovely local contacts, couldn’t have been more gracious and accommodating. We visited the beautiful Ashford Castle in County Mayo as well as the incredible Cliffs of Moher and the rugged coast just a short drive from the Bridge House. If you are planning a trip to Ireland and want to experience the Wild Atlantic Way, then you will find the Bridge House to be the perfect place for you and your party.

Great week at the Bridge House---June 2017

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 8 spent a wonderful week at the Bridge House in June 2017. The listing description of the Bridge House is accurate; the house is beautifully decorated, clean and well-maintained. This is a beautiful spot with a fantastic view of South Galway Bay and the Aran Islands. The house is an hour or less away from Galway City Centre, the Cliffs of Mohr, Doolin, Lahinch, Ballyvaughn, and many other lovely Irish destinations and attractions. We have visited Ireland over a dozen times and this is one of the very best places we have ever stayed. We have stayed at the Bridge House before and probably will again. We have recommended the Bridge House to friends who have stayed there and loved it too. We would recommend it to anyone.

Wonderful and Quiet location

  • 5 of 5

Our first trip to Ireland, couldn't have picked a better place to share with another couple traveling with us. Plenty of space and bathrooms. Didn't even touch the downstairs beds and baths. Wonderful location close to the Cliffs of Moher. Great little pub and small grocery store just down the street. Highly recommend this beautiful home for a family or couples traveling together.

Wonderful Location

  • 3 of 5

We had an awesome stay at the bridge house. Spent three nights, Located close to the Cliffs of Mohr and Galway. Great place with awesome views. Although I seem to be having a hard time getting my damage deposit back. I know us old timers left the place in wonderful condition. Please refund Dierdre and I will be happy to give you five stars.

Blissful location and beautiful house in Fanore

  • 5 of 5

We had the most lovely time at Bridge House in Fanore - the house is beautiful, the location is stunning - absolutely blissful. Thanks so much for our stay! We will be recommending to friends and family - one of the loveliest places I have ever visited. The coast and beach are within walking distance of the house & the Cliffs of Moher are just 30 minutes by car - they are definitely worth seeing. We took a boat tour out to see the Cliffs from the sea - highly recommended!

One tip for future visitors - bring cash! The nearest cash points to the house are 30 mins drive away & the pub does not take cards!

Thanks for everything - we hope to return again one day!!

Fell in love with the Bridge house and Fanore!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed at the bridge house March 2014 and we absolutely loved everything about it! My sister, father and I flew in from California and met up with two life-long friends visiting from Germany. It was by far the best trip I have ever been on. The house was perfect in every way and we really enjoyed meeting Anna and had a wonderful dinner together on our last night there. Had many great times at the Pub down the road and visiting the Burren. Many wonderful memories made! Thank You Diedre for sharing your beautiful home with us, hoping to make it back there very soon!

We Love Bridge House & Fanore!!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 4 (parents & 2 teen girls) loved our week stay at Bridge House before heading to Limerick for a family wedding.

By itself Bridge House & Fanore are a beautiful, scenic and storybook location! The views are incredible and the house is very charming and just as shown here. It is clean, well appointed, cozy but with plenty of room and had everything we needed. The fire place was a treat to have on one chilly rainy day. Thanks to Mike & Joan for stopping in from Stone House next door to help us get it lighted!

Fanore is a magical place. Even just staying in the house/town would be a great vacation. But we found it is an excellent location for easy day trips. This was the first country vacation for our family and we were a little worried that it would be too remote and maybe not be enough to keep our teens busy. It ended up being one of our favorite vacations. Fanore's peaceful quiet allowed us to rest & relax. Having 2 restaurants and the small market within walking distance would have been all we needed for a week. We really enjoyed walking to O'Donoghues pub (the owner Pat gave us a fresh loaf of brown bread when we met and said we were at Bridge House!). We had several great meals there and enjoyed a trad music night as well. The market had what we needed including a coffee machine that came in handy on early mornings. The walk to the beach along the old road is spectacular.

We are pretty lazy travelers but were able to cover a lot of ground. We toured/hiked the Burren, visited the farmer's market & tea rooms in Ballyvaughn, Cliffs of Moher, had dinner and shopped in Doolin a couple of time, also had dinner in Lisdoonvarna, visited the Perfumery, saw lots of area ruins, spent time in Kinvara and Galway. A must-do is pony trekking with Peter Williams of MountainView Stables near Lisdoonvarna. Peter is fab! We did a 2 hour mountain trail ride but will be back for a beach ride! Peter's place is close by and easy to find, the ponies are lovely and we really enjoyed our guide. They accommodated our beginners as well as letting the experienced in our group ride ahead for some cantering along the trails. We ran into Peter a couple of times post-ride at O'Donoghues and it was like running into an old friend. If you want to see the area on horseback - Mountain View is the place to go!

Ana the caretaker was helpful and friendly. Thanks to Mike & Joan for all of their great suggestions and hosting us for a glass of wine at Stone House!
