About Mary Bushbaum

Mary is a retired business woman from Washington. She has travelled to several countries and when deciding on a place to retire visited Ajijic and like many others fell in love with the warmer, more colorful, and slower pace of life here. She has remodeled the house to include a main house and three casitas which she enjoys sharing with people from around the world.

What makes this villa unique

As you enter the property you are met with a view of a lush tropical garden, a lovely fountain, large avocado tree and a lime tree. Each casita has it's own unique decor, one Mexican, one Mid-Century Modern and this one on the second floor that has a panoramic view of the lake and mountains.

Amazing.

  • 5 of 5

I stayed in the 2nd floor unit and felt like I was in the trees with the beautiful birds and sounds of swaying palms. Just magical. The owner is an amazing host. Was so attentive. Met us at the door and then waived goodbye. What a wonderful experience. I will go back again and again. Thank you.

Peaceful and stunning getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I so enjoyed our 12 days at Casa de los Suenos in Casita Ariba on the second floor with glorious views of the grounds and mountains and views of the lake from the mirador look out.

Mary Bushbaum was so helpful and accommodating, and it was always a joy to be met by her loveable canine mascot, Charlie, when we came through the gates!

Casa de los Suenos is in an ideal location close to the lake, shops, town center and many delectable restaurants.

We certainly will be returning to this wonderful and peaceful hideaway!

Thank you, Barbara, for your generous hospitality!

Love,

The Ideal Casita

  • 5 of 5

How we loved staying in this beautiful, art filled casita! Butterflies and birdsong, a fountain gurgling it was a delight to waken each morning to the charms and delights of the garden. The casita was quiet with comfortable furniture. Despite its seclusion it was a quick walk to nearby shops and excellent restaurants. We will be staying here on our return to Ajijic.

Treehouse Shangri-La

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time this year to stay at Mary’s place. Ahhhhhhhh. Private. Airy. Big window views in almost every direction. I’ll leave the rest for you to discover. And, as always, Mary is a font of wonderful support and local information!

Ajijic has it all: Galleries, restaurants, cafes, lake and mountains. Stroll the tree-lined cobblestoned streets. Visit the open market on Wednesdays and get a flavor of Mexico from traditional foods to crafts. Relax after walking the length of Ajijic's malacon (boardwalk) where you will see flocks of pelicans, herons and cranes. It is just a 10 minute walk to the Lake Chapala Society which offers a wealth of information about the area and its activities. There is a reason why this area is so popular with visitors from around the world. Yes, National Geographic gave it the distinction of the second best climate in the world....but there is so much more.
