About DeLoyd John Huenink
Susan and I are retired. We both grew up in Green Bay, WI...GO PACK! We both had professional careers...Susan as an owner of a restaurant in Saugatuck Michigan, John as an owner and founder of an advertising agency in Milwaukee, then as a founder of one of the first video animation companies in the Midwest, and as an entrepreneur in the Internet development area. At the age of 60, John entered the ministry. A few years later Susan and John's paths crossed (john's wife of 42 years had passed away and Susan had been divorced for 30 plus years) and they fell in love and were married. We are a bit older than most of the US property owners around Costa Rica, but when we visited 10 years ago (John was 70), we fell in love with the property, the area and the people. We decided we had time in our lives for yet another big adventure. And here we are. John is an Avid photographer and has photographed in all the places we have visited...Vietnam, Cambodia,The Galapagos, Ecuador, Tibet, China, South Africa, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Canada, Panama, London, and Paris. And of course, Costa Rica...a photographers paradise. you can see some of John's photography at photodiscoveries dot com.
Why DeLoyd John Huenink chose La Fortuna
When we bought this lot 10 years ago, I described the view as “The most beautiful view I had ever seen.” The Arenal Volcano dominated the landscape. And in the same view, there was Arenal Lake, the largest inland lake in Costa Rica. Running alongside of our property, just out of sight, but not out of sound, is a river, singing it's song 24/7. We bought the property the day we saw it.
What makes this House unique
We built a beautiful contemporary home, with what you would expect in an American built home...On demand hot water in every room, American plumbing where you can actually flush the toilet paper, screens on the windows and fans on the ceilings. The bedroom is air conditioned, although in the 8 years we have been here we have never needed it. Fresh air is welcomed into the house so inside or out, day and night...you can take advantage of the amazing Costa Rica weather. Here we are at 2400 feet of elevation, the exact border between the rain forest and the Cloud forest. We are blessed with rainbows, fog views from the terrace that change every few minutes. Lot of interesting birds, including 3 types of toucans, almost daily morning visits buy White Hawks, lots of different hummingbirds and many others. from the back of our garden trails, you can walk to Walden Falls, our private jungle walk to a small but beautiful secluded waterfall. We provide walking sticks, tall rubber boots for your adventure while you are here. There are many places to stay in Costa Rica and even in our area. BUT, White Hawk is your place for an adventure you will remember forever. On our property you can walk in the tropical gardens, swing on a covered swing that overlooks the entire area, photograph hummingbirds most of the day, sit on two different benches on the way to the jungle walk and rest and contemplate.
