Wonderful 3 bedroom, 2 bath multi-floor layout with large deck and great views
Treetops mountain home is a wonderful vacation retreat and is located just off of state road 64 on the way to Lake Lure near Hendersonville, North Carolina.
Treetops is a gorgeous 3 bed/2 bath home that easily sleeps 6 people. The spacious layout provides room for comfort, privacy and gathering. Whether you’re watching your favorite movie on one of the two HD TV’s, playing a family game by the fireplace or sitting on the expansive deck enjoying the fresh mountain air, the sounds of nature and counting fireflies - Treetops has it all.
Treetops is a true mountain home. Although close to the city, you’d never know it as beautiful trees, rhododendron and mountain views provide you a private mountain retreat. You’re also a short scenic drive to many Western North Carolina wonders and attractions including: Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, the Pisgah National Forest – with its famous waterfalls and Sliding Rock, Apple Valley and the Biltmore Mansion in Asheville, to name a few. For the outdoor enthusiast, we’re close to horseback riding, hiking, biking and rafting. The town of Hendersonville is just a short drive “down the mountain” and features many fine restaurants, shopping, “antiquing”, street concerts, beautiful parks, and other events.
A few comments from Past guests:
“We just had to email you a let you know what a wonderful time we had at Treetops. To escape the city and enjoy a week at your mountain paradise was incredible. We spent the days enjoying the sites of the area – the Biltmore Mansion was breath-taking – and the evening on the amazing deck. A cool mountain breeze and a picturesque view made for great memories. It was our first time to Treetops, but it won’t be our last”.
“I wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our time at your home. My wife and I spent our honeymoon there and it was everything we’d hope it would be. We really enjoyed the fact that it was “off the beaten path” a bit and could relax, unwind and feel totally at home.”
“Wow – what an amazing time we had in the Smokies and at your home. My wife and I went with our two children. Hendersonville is quaint, but offers some great dining and wonderful locally owned shops. The drive through the Blue Ridge and Pisgah National Forrest was incredible. We even stopped off and took the kids down Sliding Rock! Back at your home, it was a relaxing and enjoyable time. We ate a few dinners on the deck and even found time to watch on movie with the kids.”

About David Doroshow
My mother and father - Bonnie and Sid- built Treetops in 1990 as their dream home. Being from Florida, they wanted to escape the heat and enjoy the fresh mountain air while enjoying the wonderful views. Now living in Florida full time again, my mother wants others to enjoy her house that has made so many lasting memories.
David Doroshow purchased this House in 1990
Why David Doroshow chose Edneyville
Again, Sid and Bonnie wanted a retreat from the heat of Florida and "city life". They built Treetops as their "little piece of paradise". A place they could enjoy both inside and out. The location was out of town, but not too far. Being in the beautiful North Carolina Mountains, but having the amenities of the city close at hand was (and continues to be) a perfect combination.
What makes this House unique
Unlike many mountain "Cabins", Treetops is a true 3 bedroom, 2 bath home. It's multi-floor layout is perfect for a family or multiple couples. The private balcony off the master bedroom offers great views, while the large deck on the main level is great for gatherings, dinner, an evening cocktail or just chatting. The master bathroom is a "destination for relaxation" with its large claw foot tub - a perfect ending to great day.

Kind of disappointed
House was a nice size. The view was beautiful.
The GPS did not take us to the house. It took us into the small neighborhood, but, it took us to the left instead of to the right. The road up to the house was so steep that my husband insisted on driving the van up the road. There were plenty of things to do in the area, but because of the road to the house, we only went down the road once a day. My husband's truck ended up getting stuck in the ditch. We had to pull it out with our van. The neighbor says - that happens all the time. All weekend, we were thankful that it had not snowed. Low and behold, the last night it iced and snowed for 12 hours. (even though there was only a 5% chance of precipitation.) Thankfully, it didn't ice long before it turned to snow.
While the floors, bathroom and kitchen were clean - there were issues with the cleanliness of the house. There was no room to put our garbage in the garbage can. We had to put it to the side. The fireplace had left over ashes in it.
The towels were musty smelling. Also, there was rat droppings in an empty drawer in the kitchen. There were no window treatments on any of the rooms upstairs (even the bedrooms). While there was a day when people would say there is nothing this high to see in - there are droids that people use to take pictures. (It's more than a little unnerving.)
While they do have internet, they do not have a lot of bandwidth. We liked to stream movies. If we were streaming movies, no one could be on their phone at all, because it would impact the movie.
I'm truly not sure how to respond to this review – it is unlike any I’ve ever seen. Let me start by saying at Treetops our goal is for all of our visitors to have an incredible experience (and thankfully the vast majority have) and be a home away from home.
That being said, most of these things were discussed with the renter before they ever arrived. I gave them detailed directions, via conversation and email, to our home before they started and explained that GPS has failed before. With regards to the drive up the mountain – several things: First, we had renters there the week before and the week after that had no issues and drove 2 wheel drive vehicles. Also, I clearly state on my VRBO site that during the winter months 4 wheel drive vehicles and chained tires are recommended. This was also explained to them before they arrived. Next, with regards to the truck in the ditch. Although they did not inform me of this? – I am so sorry that this happened. I will say in almost 30 years of owning Treetops, this would be the 2nd time (I was the first almost 20 years ago) that I’m aware of this happening on the drive to my home. I’m not sure if saying “all the time” is appropriate. In speaking about the garbage, I have no idea what they are talking about. We have trash baskets in every room and several full size garbage cans in the garage. We’ve had renters stay for several weeks and have never had a comment like this. Moving on, I’m also not sure what to make of the “droid” comment. All I can say is taking into account the low number of neighbors on our mountain and the fact that the vast majority of folks are “older”, I’m not sure droids are a viable problem or complaint. Lastly, the internet comment is strange. I have AT&T hi-speed DSL throughout the entire home and have never had one negative issue about the service. Also, and more importantly, my AT&T DSL has nothing to do with cellular phone reception and depending on who their carrier is, they may or may not have good service. I do know this T-Mobile and Verizon work fine in our area.
With regards to the towels, etc. Although we employ a respected cleaning company and have not experienced problems, I will check into this as anything other than an extremely clean home and wonderful smelling, towels, etc. is unacceptable and I will address this today. Again, our goal at Treetops is to provide a wonderful experience for our guests and we will do whatever it takes to ensure that.
Great place to stay. Short distance to anything you need but far enough away to enjoy peaceful quiet. Hendersonville is a great alternative to Asheville if you don’t want to make the drive. Chimney Rock is close and plenty of hiking in the area. You have to visit the local orchards and try a candy crisp apple and the best cider we ever had. We plan to go back again.
Thank you so much for those kind words. We try to make Treetops a home away from home and an enjoyable, peaceful time. You're right about Hendersonville, a great town and only a few minutes away.
Everything we needed. Really enjoyed Treetops
We really enjoyed our stay here. House was charming and had all of the comforts of home.
I was in town for a Spartan race and we really enjoyed having Chimney Rock and Lake Lure nearby. The drive from Bat Cave to Black Mountain on Hwy 9 (Sidewinder) is probably one of my favorites. I enjoyed the drive up to the place in my 4wd truck... My mother-in-law in her minivan?? Not so much, lol. Thanks for being dog friendly and thank you for having us!
Thanks so much for your review. We appreciate your kind words. We also try to continually improve the experience of our guests. So, we recently completed a re-grading and re-working of the drive to our home to make it easier for our guests. Thanks you again!
Lovely location. Older house but nice.
Loved the location and the layout. Lived in,but relaxing and had what we needed. Owner was very nice and answered all of our questions promptly. Plenty spacious, but maybe could use an air purifier. Lots of rain that week and since it's an older house, I wasn't surprised that it smelled a bit musty up on arrival. It wouldn't prevent me from, renting again though.
Thank you Dave!!
I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay. Our goal is for our guests to feel like they are at home. Also, thank you for your review. It led us to a repair that alleviated the "musty" smell you experienced.
Loved the movie room, fireplace, location, views and library. I recommend curtains and king/queen beds vs. twin matresses (or at least leave queen sheet sets in case couples want to put twins together). Be careful on all outer doors that you don't lock yourself out due to type of door knob lock mechanism.
Comfortable and private with everything you need for an enjoyable stay
My family and I enjoyed our visit during the week of Thanksgiving. The house is somewhat secluded and very comfortable. It is about 9 miles from town, and the grocery store had everything we like to include several organic choices. The owner graciously allowed our dog to join us, and the location was perfect and safe for her. We spent most of our time outdoors hiking and visiting local family. We would definitely consider staying again in the future.
Centrally located and within an hour of many attractions, you can enjoy the Biltmore House and winery in Asheville along with it's famous craft breweries and tours, Scenic Pisgah National Forest with their waterfalls and Sliding Rock, The DuPont State Recreational Forest which offers, hiking, fishing, horseback riding and amazing waterfalls, Hendersonville and it's historic downtown, shopping, restaurants and festivals, Chimney Rock, Lake Lure and remember you're in the heart.y of Western North Carolina's famous Apple Country.,
