Come for the Sourgum Festival in the fall in Blairsville Georgia (20 miles) and don't forget the car show that same week - beautiful classic cars . This time of year - mid October - is gorgeous with the mountains turning gold and red and the air like wine. Speaking of wine we have many vineyards in the area too. The Alpine town of Helen is just over the mountain with great shopping and dining. The river runs right through town and there are tubes for rent to ride down the river. The town specialty is elephant ears served with stewed apples and cream. Excellent. There are antique stores in these mountains and flea markets with everything you can imagine. As the song says you can breath air that has not been breathed before. Come and enjoy . Just wanted to mention I have someone who is mad at me so don't read his review also wanted to mention we installed a new smart TV this year and a new air conditioner. I have not updated the pictures because VRBO changed the picture size requirements and I have not figured out how to do this as yet. Don't forget to book early for the fall colors. We will do everything possible to make your stay a happy one.

I grew up in a little town in England and still speak with a British accent. What makes this Cabin unique
As my guests tell me - "A serene and quite place." It is only one and a half miles from town but we are country surrounded by nature. I have had guests who just wanted to sit on the deck and relax. The last guests had two children who just loved hiking the woods and exploring. This was the home of the Cherokee Indian not too long ago and you can still find arrowheads.

A very pleasant stay
My stay at this cabin was quite enjoyable. The cabin itself is set in the woods and just down the road is an open field where the stars fill the sky. A large oak tree close to the cabin provided wonderful cool shade for sitting outside. The owner, Miss Ruth, was pleasant and accommodating with out in anyway being intrusive. The first four pictures on the VRBO website are from the surrounding Haysville/Hiawassee area. The remaining pictures are all of the cabin. Note that the cabin and the areas immediately outside are strictly non-smoking. Also, there are limited electrical outlets through the cabin so you may want to take an extension cord or two. I did and everything worked out fine. I definitely plan on returning to this quiet cabin in the future.
I wish all my guests were like Mark he was so happy with everything and left the place spotless he even swept off the front deck for me. Thank you Mark I look forward to your return visit.
Beautiful Vacation Cabin!
I booked this cabin in the mountains for a week long stay. It is in a serene, peaceful, quiet location. The cabin is very clean and has updated new appliances, including a washer and dryer. It has beautiful hardwood floors. Rugs accent each room. The television is a new smart TV which allowed me to watch hulu and Netflix. My Verizon phone had good reception, which allowed me to keep in touch with family and friends. There were ceiling fans in every room and a brand new A/C unit, although I did not need it with the cool mountain air in May. The couch was extremely comfortable. The bed was also very comfortable, and there was extra blankets and linens provided. The bathroom was very clean and had plenty of towels. There is an outside grill and a picnic table on the deck to enjoy outdoor meals. The exterior of the cabin and the yard were well maintained. This cabin is an excellent value. The owner lives across the street and I was able to ask her where the best places to eat were and she let me know about some beautiful places to see in the area. Thank you again for your hospitality. I will definitely be returning for a stay in the near future.
I am so glad you enjoyed your vacation and many of the scenic waterfalls in our area. I am so happy to have had you as a guest and hope to see you again soon. Don't forget to send me the pictures you promised and thanks for signing my guest book with so many kind words.
Invasion of our privacy, run down property
Note: review is backed up by the many emails between us and the owner, I am not just ranting as some might think. I have never before left a bad review on a VRBO rental. Listing now changed to not-pet friendly, a good idea.
We rented for 3-mth nursing assignment in area understanding unit was pet friendly, we have 2 little Yorkies. Upon arrival we were told by owner that we had to keep furniture and area rugs covered with sheets and plastic runners to prevent damage from dogs. Also that we needed to pay an extra $100/mth for Utilities, this after us agreeing to bypass VRBO to save her fees. We reluctantly agreed.
We found house to be adequate but needing repairs and updates unlike description on site. A/C new but too small, Beds (felt all the springs), bathroom barely adequate, Internet terrible, Limited electric outlets 1/bed 2-kit, 2-living, no smoke detector. Outside many repairs needed. These are just a few issues. We decided to deal with the issues and stay due to challenge of finding open extended rental at that point. Two weeks into stay we went kayaking nearby so cars were gone. Owner invaded our privacy by entering unannounced and inspecting the furniture coverings and who knows what else? We found out as she emailed stating that a chair was partially uncovered and the beds not covered with sheets (beds not discussed before) which tells me she snooped around. Her excuse, just letting our dog in, the dogs could go in and out as needed as I replaced the back door with small dog door unit (with her permission, replaced upon leaving) so entry was not necessary as she was quite aware.
Feeling violated we decided end rental as soon as possible and sought other accommodations. We vacated at end of the first month. During final 2 weeks stay she emailed with threats and unwarranted accusations, she was upset at us terminating rental. Upon leaving I replaced back door so she now has a brand new door rather than the original dilapidated one and I repaired the front screen door as my 10 pound yorkie walked thru the loose screen. We left it cleaned (Not a spot on furniture or rugs, her concerns causing all these problems) and in better repair than on arrival.
The final insult was, she ignored all further communication attempts and kept security deposit without explanation or justification. She said upon vacating she needed to inspect to ensure no damage, so I waited 7 days, requested deposit refund via email, this and additional requests were ignored.
This man has been stalking and harassing me via the internet for two months now printing untruths and outright lies in order to damage my business. This has nothing to do with the cabin. The cabin has been completely redone new green metal roof new vinyl siding hardwood floors all redone lots of rugs new air conditioner and ceiling fans in all rooms. New appliances new smart TV.
He wanted free rent to remodel the bathroom which was not necessary and became angry when I refused.
