Family vacation

Property was beautiful, the staff exceptional. I was Traveling l with my adult children their spouses and my three grandchildren, 2,3 and 4. The staff was so accommodating to meet the children’s needs regarding meals. The cleaning staff was great, they kept the pool spotless, when seaweed came on the beach they were quick to address it. The beach was amazing. We will be back for sure!!

This property is the perfect mix of privacy and service. Our family abandoned resorts due to lack of privacy. You know having to stalk down to the beach at 5:00 in the morning to find a couple of beach chairs. This place has a private pool and beach area. Something we missed about the resorts was the service. This property has security and personal services from sun up to sun down. The property manager was super attentive and very friendly. Staff was very friendly and helpful. No regrets about staying at this villa. Beautiful property with the best accommodations. Five stars.

Paradise On the beach.

As of late I tend to lower my expectations when renting a new place as pictures and description can be deceptive but Haciends del Secreto exceeded all of our expectations. From the moment we arrive and greeted by the owner Daylene to the moment we left the entire staff was there to take care of all of our needs. Casa Canteena was perfect for our family of 8. Playa del Secreto is a private stretch of beach. So if you enjoy privacy, quiet, and a beautiful ocean then this is your place. Oscar, The manager of guest service was exceptional. Even on his day off he made a few reservations for us.

Gorgeous Home

Definitely recommend! The staff, who came 3 times a day, made this such a relaxing vacation for us. They cleaned, brought new pool towels, did dishes, made beds every day. Otherwise, as a mother, I would have spent a good majority of time cleaning up after my family! I suggest the chef cooks for you on the day you arrive and the day you leave, at a minimum. The pool was large and perfect and the youngest (aged 8 and 10) were in the pool constantly. Oscar, the house manager was very communicative, and it was comforting to have 24 hour security. You will not be disappointed!

Wonderful Palce

We just returned from a week stay at the Casa Canteena, and needless to say, what a great place! As numerous reviews have already mentioned, Mauricio is awesome! He's down to earth and doesn't try to push anything on you. The two maids were very nice, and even sang happy birthday to my wife (in spanish of course). Really the only complaint any of us had (there were 10 of us) was the initial smell when we first arrived. We purchased some candles at the store which remedied this problem. Even though we didn't see any (well, one of us did at 130am), the turtles were laying their eggs 4 of the 6 nights that we were there. The ocean was wonderful and had big enough waves to enjoy boogie boarding, just watch out for the artificial reefs. We went out to eat at the 'cave', in Playa del Carmen, and even though most of us enjoyed it, I would recommend going when it's cooler outside (winter months). It was quite muggy in there. Oh, and if you're like me, you're interested in the internet, so let me add that they do in fact have WiFi here, but don't expect 'high' speed. I checked the speedtest and it was around 2 MB, enough to allow you to do what you need to do.

Fantastic!!

What an incredible week we had at Hacienda del Secreto! Our family of 4, along with another family of 4, stayed a week in Casa Canteena and we LOVED it! Mauricio, the Guest Services Director, and ALL of the Hacienda staff provided top-notch service, made us feel so welcome, comfortable, safe, relaxed and took care of everything so that we could truly enjoy every minute of our vacation. We really appreciated being offered different meal plan options to fit our budget (we chose the 4 day Palapa Plan), loved that we could pre-order our meals before our trip, the chefs and wait staff were fabulous and the meals were delicious! It was so convenient to be able to also order a la carte for any additional meals we wanted on the other days and really nice to be able to change the location of our meal from the Palapa to the Villa with just a little bit of notice. We were so comfortable in the villa, thoroughly enjoyed the private infinity pool, boogie boarding in the ocean, playing pool and chess at the palapa, beach volleyball games, relaxing in the hammocks, crab hunting on the beach at night, and a few of us were fortunate enough to witness a huge sea turtle lay her eggs the first night we got there--it was really something special! Everything that Mauricio arranged for us worked out perfectly...airport transportation, pre-stocked groceries, 2 wonderful excursions at Boca de Puma (zip lining, ATVs, and swimming in the xenote) and the awesome Royal Swim with the Dolphins--we loved it all! Mauricio even arranged for us to go from the Dophin Discovery Zone to Playa del Carmen to shop around and enjoy a delicious lunch at La Parilla. Mauricio was on top of everything and made sure we had anything and everything we could ever need or want during our stay. Our villa cleaning staff and pool attendants worked diligently every day to keep everything clean and ready for our enjoyment and the waiters were excellent at every meal. Our photo book from the Dolphin Swim was supposed to be delivered to us the morning of our departure, but when it had not arrived by the time we had to head to the airport, Mauricio kindly offered to "take care of it" and make sure it gets sent to us back home. The only 2 problems were (1) we had to go back home at the end of the week, (2) we had very frustrating airline issues on our trip home and all we kept saying was "If only Mauricio was here...He would save the day!" Big thanks for Cher, Meghan, Doy, Mauricio and all of the Hacienda staff!

Most amazing place ever!!!

We stayed here for 10 days and never wanted to leave! There were four couples altogether and we all agree it was the best place we have ever stayed! The staff as well as the owners went far and above to make us feel at home and took very good care of us! The house is as dreamy as the pictures and the beach is beautiful and quiet. Wonderful family vacation

We loved loved loved our time at Hacienda del Secreto. Our villa was beachfront and we had an infinity pool right on the beach. My kids never left the water for a solid week! The staff was amazing and really took care of our every need. They were attentive, kind and helpful. The housekeepers took care of us all day long. One would show up in the morning to do the dishes, tidy up the outside pool area and provide us with fresh beach towels, another one would come in the afternoon to freshen up the bed linens and yet another one came in the early evening for turn down service. The food was great! And so were the margaritas! There were plenty of food items on the menu so that you could eat something different every day that you are there. The villa was quiet and secluded. We had our own private beach and the villa even had water toys such as boogie boards, kayaks, pool rafts for our enjoyment. My husband and I took long walks along the beach every day and my kids took advantage of snorkeling daily at the tide pools just a few steps down the beach from our villa. I highly recommend this property for anyone who isn't into the all inclusive resort atmosphere. The property is close enough to Cancun (20 minutes drive time) and Playa del Carmen (10 minutes drive time) and Puerto Morelos (5 minutes drive time) if you decide you want to leave the property and adventure out for the day. I definitely recommend visiting Rio Secreto & Isla Mujeres. Ask Mauricio (villa manager) to call ahead to his contacts in Isla so that you can enjoy great snorkeling and scuba diving that isn't part of a mass touristy excursion. Rent a golf cart while you are on Isla and take a stroll around the island! We loved our time at this property!

AMAZING 5 STAR VILLAS, MOST PERFECT BEACH!!!

This was our second year staying @ Hacienda del Secreto and we hope to return every year!! The owner 1st class & is very responsive, she knows how to take care of her customers!! She will make your vacation a perfect one from start to finish!! Hacienda del Secreto is such an AMAZING place, a hidden jewel... the beach is so wonderful, soft white sand, warm crystal clear water & very few people!! ***VERY IMPORTANT- THESE VILLAS ARE FULLY AIR CONDITIONED, EVEN THE COMMON AREAS. THIS IS NOT SOMETHING YOU USUALLY FIND IN VILLAS OF THIS SIZE*** This year we rented 2 villas for a wedding group of 20 people ( family, friends). The children had a blast swimming in the pool, the ocean, snorkeling, fishing, boogie boarding...the adults did too! The villas are 5 star ++ and every room is uniquely decorated. High ceilings, beautiful art work, hand painted murals, just so well done!! We had a wedding celebration of seven days in this wonderful place! The ceremony took place on the beach and the dinner party at the Palapa Jack restauraunt! The food was OUTSTANDING!! Many of our friends said this was their best vacation ever and one of the most beautiful weddings they attended. For us the wedding and vacation was more than we ever expected, a dream come true!! Hacienda del Secreto is located in a VERY SAFE & secure area. It's an easy 25 minute drive from the Cancun airport to the front gate which has a 24 hour security guard. There is a staff of 15 that maintain the property, they cook, clean and take care of your every need. If you want to go sea kayaking, boogie boarding or snorkeling just ask & the equipment will be delivered @ no charge!! Want to grill fish for dinner, just call them & they will even light the grill for you!! THE STAFF IS AMAZING!!! This stretch of beach is also a nesting ground for sea turtles & if you take a midnight walk along the beach you will most likely see one!! If you are really lucky you will see the baby turtles that just hatched!! What an incredible experience!! Look no further, Hacienda del Secreto is the perfect place for your vacation & wedding!!

Doy, Gonzalo and all the staff at Casa del Secreto/Hacienda del Secreto, I would like to thank you for an excellent job at helping us put our vacation together and making sure everything was perfect while there ! This was our second year staying at Villa Canteena and WILL not be our last ! From the moment we arrived til the sad moment we left, the staff catered to our every desire. Gonzalo booked golf and all our excursions, making sure everything went without a problem. One excursion wasn't on their list, don't be afraid to ask for anything, he will make it happen ! I highly recommend their chef services. 5 star dining at 3 star prices, phenomenal !!! Safety is not an issue here with 24 hour security, my family felt completely at home ! I could go on and on. Everything was wonderful. The property, the house, the food, the service, all of the staff and the pampering were top-notch. It was the most relaxing vacation I have ever been on. We didn't even leave the property for the first 5 days. It was so nice there , we didn't really care about getting out. Can't wait to go back.

Great Beach! Awesome staff and owner!

We did a week in the Casa Del Secreto house. It truly is beachfront, and the beach is incredible. Perfect waves for boogyboarding, great sand, and warm water. We rented the whole house (its really 2 separate units). The playstructure was a huge hit, and the hot tub is beautiful. I think the house layout is not ideal for a single large group, and some of Doy's other houses probably have better layouts for a single large group. If its a smaller group or group with two factions that want their own kitchens/eating areas, this one would be great. The amenities were ok, but not four seasons like we have seen in some other rental properties. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We did higher level meal plan, and the food is quite good. I did wish there was a family style meal plan, its more restaurant like and all the food is prepared off-site in the main palapa. Our food bill for the week was $4000 which was almost 2x what we paid for a similar rental in punta mita last year, and this only included limited alcohol (1 drink at happy hour each day per adult). We could have ordered steak and lobster every night on our meal plan (which was awesome the night we did), but given we were in Mexico we wanted fajitas and other local dishes. We had a mix of kids and adults and didn't want to do the separate kids plan (chicken nuggets and corn dogs). You are also incented to provide your own alcohol, soft drinks etc which resulted in a suboptimal trip to Wal-mart. Anyway, that was my one hangup. Doy is awesome and very hands-on. Mauricio is a saint, and we loved the rest of the staff (our 2 year was following Christopher around all day). The places aren't new, but are well maintained, and did I mention the beach? maybe the best I have seen anywhere in the world.

Wonderful Location, Relaxing Vacation, Great Staff

We have rented many houses in many different places around the world but this has to be at the top of the list. The location is beautiful!! You could just relax and enjoy the beach, pool and house or if you wanted to do a little more there is plenty to keep you busy all along the Mayan Riviera. We chose a couple of day trips but mostly spent our time at the house and enjoyed every minute. What made this house exceptional was the Staff. They were helpful, friendly, and always attentive to your needs. Their English was great but it also allowed a chance for the kids to practice their Spanish. We chose the meal plan and that just added to the ease of the vacation. We focused on time as a family and enjoying everything this great spot has to offer. There was more to do then we could fit in in 9 days, so that just means we have to come back to continue to explore this beautiful corner of the world. Thanks to Doy and Cher for your help and to the whole family for having the vision to create this paradise. Please thank the staff again for all they do behind the scenes to make everything perfect. I know our son Spencer looks forward to another chess match under the palapa by the beach.

We just got back from a fantastic week at Playa del Secreto. We have been taking yearly trips for about 10 years. Everything was wonderful. The villa is beautiful. The staff wonderful. Customer servicer is great!!!! We plan on going back again in 2013. I wouldn't miss it for anything... :)

The perfect place to relax!

Our stay at Casa Del Secreto was amazing! We were impressed from the moment we entered through the front gate! The service, the food, the drinks, the views- everything was fantastic! We were looking for a place where we weren't surrounded by strangers the whole week while trying to lay out on the beach and enjoy the sun and the ocean! That's exactly what we got here!! This is my definition of a perfect vacation! We can't wait to come back!

We just returned from staying in Casa Umaki-ha and had a wonderful time. The staff was very accommodating. There were 8 adults and 6 children (4 under 3), so being in this location was perfect for us. The property was clean with many amenities. I would give this a 5 star except that it has been around for several years and could use some updating in some areas. That said, there were so many things that made it perfect for a family get together that we could overlook those things. Doy, the owner, was on sight and very welcoming. We even got to see her new puppies! We used the meal plan and found the food good, safe, and the staff very helpful and flexible. We also rented one of the vans which was pretty well used, but adequate for our needs of going to Playa del carmen, Tulum, and the airport several times to pick up arrivals. There are not restaurants within walking distance, so the meal plan was very helpful with the number we had. Overall we all agreed that it was the best family vacation we ever had. The weather was very nice, too, and we built lots of sand castles and rode the waves. We are already considering a return trip in 2012. Our thanks to Doy and Mauricio and all the staff.
