This one bedroom, one bathroom unit is 686 square feet of scenic living. Equipped with a queen-sized bed and a full-size sleeper sofa, this space is perfect for up to four people. Enjoy an oversized lanai while watching the waves come in!

Located oceanfront in North Kihei, Kauhale Makai (in Hawaiian, “Village by the Sea”) is the ideal location for a family or couples retreat. Two buildings with 168 units total stretch towards the ocean on tropical grounds. The complex provides shuffleboard and volleyball courts, a pool, a children’s wading pool, hot tub, a putting green as well as gas barbecues. Each well-appointed unit includes its very own private lanai (balcony). The complex also has coin-operated laundry facilities on property for your convenience. Kauhale Makai’s location on South Kihei Road makes it the perfect base for exploring this magical island. Just minutes away are some of the world’s most beautiful beaches, superb shopping, renowned restaurants, and world-class golf.

The complex features great outdoor activities as well including a shuffleboard court, volleyball court, BBQ area, golf putting greens, pool, hot tub, lush grass areas and easy short walk to the beach access.

Communal Laundry Facility available on-site:
A washer costs 6 quarters a load, and dryers are 1 quarter for each 10 minutes. Soap packets and quarters can be purchased at the office on site. There is also an app you can download on your smart phone to pay for the items.

Clean, cozy spot

Great location, nice grounds, great beach access. The suppose team is always available through text and helps with needs quickly. The unit seems recently remodeled and was very clean with nice updates. Great things for the beach, including coolers and chairs. We left some sand toys and floaties for the kids. Would recommend this location and unit!

The property is clean and comfortable. You do have a view of the ocean from this unit, but it is along a fairly busy road. Walking to the water from your room will only take you a couple of minutes, and from there you only hear the ocean. The property managers did a great job keeping in touch, to see if there was anything I needed, or any questions I had

Incredible stay

My boyfriend and I traveled to Maui for a wedding and were happy with the condo rental. Although we arrived late and had some difficulty finding our room, helpful people staying in the condos guided us to the elevators. The condo was clean and had excellent amenities like air conditioning, a comfortable bed, and a full kitchen. The Vrbo provided enough essentials like towels, toilet paper, and soap. We received a check-in call after 24 hours so they could hear about our experience. The area was fantastic, with both ocean and mountain views. We had a memorable and comfortable stay and highly recommend the place, appreciating its affordability.

Great place in a central location

My gf and I stayed here for 5 days around Thanksgiving 2016. We really liked the place and it was exactly as pictured. Everything was spotless and organized. The host company was helpful and sent us an email with all the events that were happening in Maui during our stay. They also gave us good recommendations for restaurants, Luau, snorkeling, etc. The location is very central especially if you plan to spend more time in the southern part of the Island. I would highly recommend eating at Coconut Fish Cafe (it's close by) and "Fork & Salad". BTW .. we used Maui Wave Riders for our surf lessons and would also highly recommend them. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer.

Great location with easy access to the beach

This property is managed very well and the description was accurate. The condo had everything we needed including beach chairs and beach towels. The sofa bed was not the most comfortable bed I have slept in but I could sleep on it. The bathroom was a little challenging as it is in the bedroom but fortunately my friend is a good sleeper and did not wake up. The local property management company was very proactive. They contacted us twice during our stay to make sure our visit was going well. Great views of the sunset over the ocean and excellent early morning beach walking. If you walk north on the beach you will find the turtles (honus) near the whale foundation.

Book it!!

I would definitely recommend staying at this condo in Kihei. It was clean, there was plenty of room, the lanai was nice and there was an even better view than what pictures show. The area is pretty central to other parts of the island, and there are plenty of spots close by to shop and eat. My only complaint was that the bed was a little too soft for my personal preference, but that wouldn't stop me from staying here again.

Great location and property

I loved beach combing and watching sunset from the beach and sunrise over Haleakala from my balcony. The condo had everything we needed for our day trips! The cooler and beach chairs came in very handy!! Would stay there again and will refer friends if asked!

New washers and dryers desperately needed!!!

We've been staying at this property for 15 years, and love it's location and amenities. The hottub, pool, and BBQ grills make for lovely evenings, and we always choose a condo that provides beach chairs, umbrella, and a cooler for a day at the beach!! PLEASE consider installing all new washers & dryers. Only 2 out of 8 washers were working, and only 4 of 8 dryers!!

Great Maui stay

My husband and I stayed here and enjoyed our stay. It is an older building but the kitchen appliances have been updated. There is a good view from the patio. Short walk to a rocky beach but short drive to other beaches in the area. Close to restaurants and shopping. Provided beach towels, coolers, boogie boards, and some chairs for the beach which was a huge plus. There is a full size fridge but no ice maker in the freezer. There is one ice tray provided but would be helpful if there were more ice trays. The bed is quit soft, feel like the property would feel more luxurious with some updated bedding like crisp white sheets and a nicer down comforter or duvet. We used a blanket from the closest and found a crusted stain on it. This is why I would recommend updated, fresh linens/bedding for this property.

Central location, attentive concierge

We really enjoyed our stay at Kauhale Makai, Unit 425! Even though there was construction going on at the property, we didn't run into any problems. Our unit had pretty much everything you would need. We did a little cooking and enjoyed sitting on the balcony a lot. We really appreciated not having to clean up a lot on our last day. That was a relief! The concierge sent valuable, helpful details and great suggestions. The property is located between North and South Kihei. Although we weren't within walking distance of many places, it was a short drive to many restaurants and shops and beaches. Also, it was convenient to the highways leading to other parts of the island. Our only negative would be that the bed was very, very soft, and made it a bit difficult for a good night's rest. We did okay, but someone with a back problem might have difficulties. Mahalo to HomeAway and Sunny Maui Vacations for our wonderful stay! We will consider using both services again!

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Very disappointed ... the extent of the construction work on the complex was very understated ahead of the trip. Noise level each day was a terrible nuisance and just getting to the beach or pool was a problem. Biggest problem with the condo itself was the bed. A double bed? Never encountered that before in a hotel or condo... should be at least a quee. Also, parking was a complete mess. Sorry, this just wasn't up to par and I believe I am entitled to some sort of adjustment kn the rate. .
