I love the Rockies and Nederland. I still need to live in Flagstaff, Arizona for family, but I get to the Peak View Retreat House as often as I can. I love to share the peace and serenity of the divide, and strive to keep the rent affordable and the furnishings comfortable and elegant. Come enjoy.
The Owner purchased this house in 2003
Firstly, I want to thank Annabelle for being so prompt and responsive. It seems that many of the owners don't understand that travelers are trying to get plane flights to match the available properties. For that to happen the owners have to reply promptly. Even waiting 24 hours for a response seems like forever, and when you have to do that with multiple properties just to get an answer, it is simply maddening. Annabelle responded right away and we had everything wrapped on with a phone call in 10 minutes. She answered all of our questions and was professional, friendly, honest, and just an overall pleasure to deal with.
Tha cabin itself was perfect. It is kind of remote without really being hard to find. There is a great little restaurant (Sundance Cafe) that is very close by, is always open, and has food and drinks for all times of the day. The fireplaces/wood stoves work great and put out some real heat! The price of the cabin was so reasonable that we were afraid it may be a little "too rustic" - but no! It is modern, clean, and loaded with everything you need. This is the kind of place you come back to over and over :) *oh, and the wi-fi works just fine*
71 Peak View Drive was an excellent base of operations for us to travel around the Front Range for 10 days, including attending a destination wedding in Goldin. We were 2 generations (3 couples), and we had sufficient room, comforts, and views to keep us all happy. The food available just downhill in Nederland and other nearby places was a big plus. "Half-day-Ray", the neighbor living above the garage, was good company and full of local intelligence about how to deal with the Cold Creek Fire. It started puffing smoke on the day we arrived but stayed a safe distance away on the other side of the Boulder reservoir. Highly recommend!
Just the perfect distance away from town. (~2 miles/8 minutes). Within about 30 minutes of arrival, we saw two mule deer hanging out about 20 yards from the back porch. #awesome
Gorgeous view. Wonderful deck to enjoy it from.
Kitchen was well stocked with the necessary items to prepare nice meals.
Excellent place if you are trying to unplug from most technology. I found on the Sprint network, that I was able to make phone calls, but that data streaming was pretty limited edition over the cell network.
There is Wi-Fi at the cabin, but I believe that the service provided from the town/provider is pretty limited because again streaming movies over devices like Roku or AppleTV were more choppy than in an urban setting. Hopefully in time either the owner and or the provider will increase the bandwidth.
If that challenge is resolved, then it would be an excellent place to conduct business from if you're the type of professional who likes to be plugged in, yet far enough away that you can truly focus on things different than the day today.
Very, very enjoyable location.
Final suggestion is to follow the owners advice and arrive in daylight if possible. Not required by any means, but it definitely was helpful to have some visual markings.
Our family visited Colorado in September 2015. We chose this Cabin mostly because of its location. We had a week so we spent most days taking in the sights. Day trips to Estes park, Royal Gorge, Pikes Peak, Black Hawk, Idaho Springs. South Park, and Breckenridge. This cabin is centraly located to make all that possible. The cabin itself is great. Comfortable and well kept. Everything worked as it should and we enjoyed staying there. The deck was the highlight of the place. Sunrise in the mountains is amazing. I was up every morning at 5:30 so I would see it. The owner is really nice and easy to deal with. We had no problems with anything the entire time we were there but I suspect that if we did she would have taken care of it. I would recomend this cabin to anyone thats spending time in Colorado. I rented a Jeep for our time there and we also loved off roading with plenty of trails in the area. The town of Nederland is right down the hill and has most anything you might need plus there are a couple of really good places to eat. All in all it was a great stay and we're all looking forward to our next visit.
Our family flew into Denver from Ky and MN to visit our son in Colorado. We all met up for a weekend in the Nederland cabin. It was easy driving and great views to get there. We had quick trip so maximizing our time together without being in the car was our goal. This cabin fit the bill.It was a great size for 5 adults and very private. It was clean and comfortable. The feeling of the cabin was a john denver kind of experience, solid, rustic and charming.Days of rain and sun with chilly nights was the recipe for using both wood stoves which worked well.Hiking was great throughout the area.Good adventure.
We loved the house and as always had a great time hanging out in the Ned.
Lounging in the sun on the deck made us wish we had booked another night. We could have stayed there all day.
We really enjoyed this place and hope to come back and visit again.
