Painted Rock sits perched on a quaint spit of ledge rock, halfway between Lutsen and Grand Marais, on the edge of Cascade State Park. This historic log cabin has been lovingly restored to retain all its original charm and history, while updated with all the luxury amenities. A large Main Room is home to a wood-burning fireplace, dining table, game table, and picture windows that bring the Big Lake indoors in all seasons. A bathroom with a deep soaker tub and heated floors adds spa-like comfort.

An unusually large Main Room is home to a wood-burning fireplace, dining table, game table, and picture windows that bring the Big Lake indoors in all seasons. The master bedroom has a queen bed, and its private entrance directly onto the deck allows guests to fall asleep to the soothing sound of gently lapping waves. The bathroom is outfitted in spa-like fashion, with an oversized deep-soaker tub and heated floors. With a 2nd bedroom, also outfitted with a queen bed, Painted Rock can comfortably sleep 4 adults.

Outside, an oversized deck sits just a few steps from the ledge rock shoreline. A pro-style gas grill makes for easy outdoor cooking and gathering. As idyllic as Painted Rock is, the cabin itself is only the beginning …

Painted Rock is situated in the heart of the most legendary and spectacular section of the entire North Shore. Except for a few private parcels of land right along the Lake Superior Shore, Painted Rock essentially sits in the middle of pristine Cascade River State Park. Hundreds of miles of Sawtooth Mountains trails (hiking in the summer, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling in the winter) are accessible right out the front door of the cabin. Cascade Lodge Restaurant & Pub is an easy 1/2-mile walk and features great food, drinks, and frequent live music. A trail leading to Cascade Falls is within a mile of Painted Rock`s door! And within a 30-minute drive, everything the North Shore is known for is accessible: world-class hiking, fishing, kayaking, biking trails, skiing, galleries, restaurants, NorthHouse Folk School, and a vibrant live music scene. After all, Painted Rock sits in the heart of Cook County and Grand Marais, which was named by Travel & Leisure magazine as `America`s Best Small Lake Town` in 2023!

Ranging in size from 1 to 4+ bedrooms — and all sitting along the easternmost stretch of coveted Cascade Beach Road — NorthLight`s properties are located halfway between the grandeur and skiing of the Lutsen Mountains and the charming harbor town of Grand Marais. Each cabin is nestled right along the lakeshore and has been curated with painstaking attention to detail. Painted Rock is uniquely perched on one of the most stunning stretches along the North Shore — with Lake Superior`s waves literally lapping at its edge! It has captured our imaginations since the first time we stumbled upon it — and still does today!

Painted Rock is located on Cascade Beach Road, a quiet, lightly traveled eight-mile gravel road that usually sees more walkers and cyclists than it does cars. There is no parking on Cascade Beach Road, but the private drive offers plenty of parking for guests.

DEPARTURE:
Premises must be vacated on or before the Reservation Period ends. Guest acknowledges that if Premises has not been vacated on or before Check-Out, a $500 fee will be assessed and an additional $100/hour will be charged for each
hour occupied after Reservation Period ends. Please respect our need to prepare for the next Guest by ensuring an on-time departure.
EARLY CHECK-IN OR LATE CHECKOUT:
When available, the Reservation Period can be extended for an additional fee of $50 per hour. This option must be arranged in
advance in writing. Guest should inquire if interested and Brushpoint will do its best to accommodate the request if possible.
