Tucked into a hollow on the eastern edge of Prairiewood's preserve, Cottonwood Suite exudes romance and abundance. Cottonwood has everything you need for a weekend getaway or simple overnight stay: spacious living quarters, spa-like features including oversized soaker tub, gas fireplace, comfort amenities including hospitality counter with Keurig, mini fridge, and microwave, patio with outdoor seating, and yard with fire pit, hammock, and grill — all with easy access to trails, fishing, canoeing, and kayaking.

HomePlace features two casita-style guest suites, Cottonwood and Willow, both of which are nestled into the lower side of an authentic timber frame home. Each has a completely separate entrance with no interior door connecting to the larger home, making them comfortably private. As part of Prairiewood Tallgrass Preserve, guests have access to over 400 acres of native and restored tallgrass prairie, including a private dock on Wildcat Creek with awaiting kayaks, miles of hiking and walking trails, and Walnut Pond picnic area with its surrounding Bird, Bee & Butterfly Sanctuary.

Fun couple’s getaway!

What a special place to stay for a couple’s getaway! Room was perfect. Owners add all the special amenities to the room, including games, ice, filtered water, books and so much more. Loved the view from our room! We also got to enjoy the property with fishing, hiking and kayaking. Was really sad to leave! Hope to visit again!

Both Willow and Cottonwood suites were fantastic. Communication with host was amazing and attention to detail in both suites were just top notch. It felt so warm and cozy. Perfect serene place

This place is a must if you want to relax and regroup. No detail was left behind. The bed is comfy, the jetted tub, ice machine, fresh drinking water, coffee maker, heated bathroom floor, bird watching and a quiet country setting close to town makes for a dream location.

Fantastic Get-Away! VERY clean and fantastic property.

We had a great short stay at this property. The fishing down at the creek was very good, caught a lot of fish and the dock was very stable and safe. The rest of the property is fantastic and there is plenty to walk around and see. The best part of the stay is how clean they keep the rooms, that is not always the case on these types of rentals, but everything was great. The attention to detail and decoration was well done, and the home baked cookies and other snacks was a nice touch. We will be returning, and cannot wait for our next stay.

Tranquility at its best!

We enjoyed the remoteness and how we can still enjoy the prairie without the noise of the city! Absolutely no distractions! We loved the birds and busy squirrel gathering acorns! Tub was a nice amenity after mile 1 1/2 walk through the creek and prairie!

The best couples getaway!

We stayed here after our wedding at Liquid Art Winery. It was just done the road and so easy to get to. The landscaping is gorgeous and the owner’s attention to detail is incredible!!! We got to enjoy a soak in the jacuzzi, fishing, canoeing, walk the trails, and warm our feet by the gas wood stove. Our marriage is started off strong thanks to this peaceful paradise! We already plan on coming back for many years to come. Thank you for an amazing experience!!

We have made the Flint Hills our home ever since — and, for nearly fifteen years, Prairiewood our labor of love.
