We headed this way to your Avery Island and could not have found a more appropriate place to get the true feeling of this area. Our hosts were so helpful and kind. This stay was crucial to the overall amazing experience we had. I will be telling everyone to stay here.
The property? Beautiful! Communication with the owner? Super easy with fast responses (Jill, put the phone down and take a breath, woman! :) Easy to find, it looks exactly like the pictures, the beds are comfy, the couch is comfy, I honestly would be happy to have stayed there for the rest of my life and not even leave again.
There’s plenty to do in the area, but you can happily leave the busy area and just…chill on the porch and watch the wildlife…and the not so wildlife. I was cooking in the (very well stocked) kitchen and got to watch a horse yelling “I RUN!!!” as Darren trained (? I guess, I know nothing about horses and the circle paddock thingy) him (her?) I got to sit on the deck early in the morning and listen to dueling roosters (but I could go inside and shut the door and no longer hear them lol). I got to play with tiny frogs and tiny green lizards that had attached themselves to the wall on the deck. I had plenty of visits from Maybelle and Jingles on the deck and gave them plenty of pets and scritches. I did not give Maybelle or Jingles any of the delicious brownies that Jill graciously baked for us.
There are not enough stars to give this place, so I grant them ALL THE STARS and Neptune and Pluto!
Jill and Darren were great hosts. There were fresh flowers, chocolate chip cookies and sweet tea waiting for us upon our arrival. Inside was clean and comfortable. Highly recommend if making a trip to Southern Louisiana.
I can’t overemphasize how great this property works for our visits to New Iberia!
Peaceful and close to everything.
On top of that, the hosts are wonderful. I can’t say enough on the hospitality and thoughtfulness of Jill and Darren. They are top notch!
We were greeted with a fresh batch of homemade chocolate chip cookies and 2 vases of freshly picked flowers from the property. The property was very cleaned, well stocked and decorated cute. It is located very close to EVERYTHING and we definitely stay here again if ever we come back. We had a small issue with the wi-fi. The owner lives on the property and the issue was immediately taken care of. GREAT stay!! ❤️
My family and I stayed here for a wedding at Rip Van Winkle. It was very clean and has lots of outdoor seating. Jill came out and showed my daughter her animals and even let her give them snacks. Great place and great hosts!
The House was perfect, very comfortable, quiet and really cute. Was close to everywhwere, we wanted to go. Sweet tea in the fridge and homemade turtles on the cabinet was a sweet jester. Was perfect for us would defstay again and highly recommend it to anyone.
This home is a perfect location if you are visiting Avery Island and Rip Van Winkle Gardens. The house was very clean and well maintained. I mentioned to the host that this was a birthday trip for myself. Upon my arrival, there was a delicious homemade cake made by the host granddaughter, fresh flowers, and the best sweet tea I’ve ever drank!! Our host live directly next door, we felt very safe and comfortable during our stay.
the whole place was ever so quiet we just sat on the porch and enjoyed the clean air it smelled so good with the cool coastal air oh yes a very nice hot shower with great water pressure was very enjoyable too
It was the greatest stay ever. Hosts were awesome, friendly and Jill brought homemade sweet tea, pecan sandies cookies and fruit over! Loved the atmosphere and location was perfectly situated in the middle of all the sites we wante
Darren and Jill were exceptional hosts, we greatly enjoyed talking with them both and couldn’t have been happier with how generous and kind they were. Not only did Jill have delicious cookies with a welcome note attached on the table waiting for us, she also had some amazing sweet tea sitting in the fridge. My boys even commented that it was the best sweet tea they’ve ever had! The check in was easy peasy, the house was super clean, very well stocked, large and well equipped bathroom, amazingly spacious and stocked kitchen, comfortable living room, and it had great bed rooms. The decks were perfect for hanging out on with the kids, even though they preferred riding the bikes and playing with the porch cat. I felt at home. Especially with the farm behind the house. The location was in a quiet neighborhood and off the main road, but close to the highway and neighboring towns. What an awesome place to stay in Louisiana!!
It has been the best stay of all of our hotels during our road trip Houston - Miami. The place is so beautiful and the people are so nice that we wish we could have stayed there for a week or more to have the chance to get to know the area and also to enjoy the house.
This stay was en route for our road trip. Very close to Avery Island attraction. The home is located in an idyllic and green rural neighborhood, with agriculture down the road. Home is comfy, with great open living space, kitchen with plenty of countertop, and full dining table. The shower is excellent, and my kids loved the spacious bathroom. The bedrooms are comfortable, we slept great! Follow the owner’s directions to reach the house as Waze may send you down a farm route with lots of potholes.
