We have been in love with Exuma since our first visit in March of 2007 and we are especially excited to own our own piece of paradise that we can share with others. Our Exuma Bungalow has been a labor of love as we completely updated this studio from ceiling to floor, wall to wall providing guests with one of the most up-to-date units you will find at Hideaways at Palm Bay.
Being a part of Hideaways means that you enjoy all the comforts of staying at a resort with your own private bungalow. Included in your rental is use of all Hideaways has to offer including the pool, paddleboards, kayaks, shuttle into George Town, fitness room, game room and concierge services. NOT all units offer this so be sure to compare correctly!
You will find a nice beach right at the water's edge at Hideaways and another 4 minute walk away is beautiful Jolly Hall. Other amenities within walking distance are the fish fry restaurants, Augusta Bay and of course, Splash, the onsite Hideaways restaurant and bar. If you are wanting to venture farther around the island, rent a car, boat or even hire a taxi for the day.
Exuma offers as much or as little as you would want to do and we are here to help in all aspects of your vacation planning needs. We have been visiting Exuma for many years and can make suggestions as to where to go or what to do based upon your interests. Beautiful beaches and sandbars, sand dollars and other shelling spots, starfish and other wildlife, snorkeling, hiking and the best picture locations are a few suggestions. Whether you have boat/car rental or restaurant questions or questions on where your feet will sink into the sand the deepest, we can answer them all!
We have tried to make our bungalow as comfortable as possible with a nice patio area with table and chairs and ceiling fan, inside, a split unit a/c with remote, 2 ceiling fans including one in bathroom, queen size bed (medium or firm pillows), 55" internet tv, large glass barn door shower with rainhead, larger vanity with drawers, hair dryer and clothes steamer. You'll also find a coffee bar with sink, microwave, toaster oven, K cup coffee pot/tea maker and mugs, dishes and wine glasses.
We allow check in starting as soon as you need and checkout when you need to make sure you can enjoy and maximize your time in beautiful Exuma!

Great place in a convenient location

Great place next to a spectacular beach!

This place was modern, clean, and had all the things you will need for a great vacation by a spectacular beach. The restaurant attached to the resort has great food for reasonable prices. The owner is so responsive and gives you great information about the place and area to help you with your planning. I can't recommend this place enough, especially for a couple.

What a beautiful bungalow! Larry was on point with every detail from the moment we booked and throughout our stay. The bungalow is decorated lovely and very very clean! We can’t wait to recommend to others and go back ourselves!

Perfect getaway!

I could not recommend this property enough! LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION! We rented a boat from Minns Water Sports for the week and the marina is right down the street. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful unit

This one bedroom unit is spacious and beautifully remodeled. It is loaded with all the amenities needed for travelers that are enjoying the island and is centrally located. The host and all the staff at Hideaways were very friendly and quickly responded to any needs.

Perfect Escape

This property was so great; from the decor to the location, we have ZERO complaints. Larry was so easy to work with and provided us with great information before we arrived. The Hideaways at Palm Bay employees were wonderful. We spent a lot of time at Splash Bar and Grill; the service was amazing (they became our new BFFs), and great food.

Great alternative to a hotel!

Exuma Bungalow is very nicely updated, clean, comfortable and convenient. Larry’s outstanding communication made planning very easy so we could make the most of our short time on Exuma. The bungalow is across the street from the pool and a beach area, but we spent almost all of our time exploring the incredible beaches and sights around Exuma. This property was the perfect launching point for our exploration.

Beautiful and Enjoyable Room

The room was wonderful! Beautifully remodeled and very comfortable bed. The location was just across the street from the beach which was perfect. Having a restaurant on the property was a must for us and we really enjoyed the small fridge and toaster oven for leftovers. The reception at hideaways was helpful with things like calling us a taxi when we needed and other quick questions we had. Larry was very responsive and a great host! I would not hesitate to recommend this property to my friends and family!

Amazing Stay!

Larry was an amazing host and immediately responded whenever we reached out. He went above and beyond, and truly exceeded our expectations, even refunding our last night when he found out flights were a day earlier than villa checkout. Prior to arrival, he sent us detailed information about the property, location, restaurants, things to do, etc. Since this was our first visit to the area, it was invaluable. Property is very easy to find (on the main road with good signage). The pictures are an excellent representation of the villa, which is cozy, absolutely beautiful and very well stocked. Already have this villa booked again for next year's vacation!

EVERYTHING and more!!

I’m a solo traveler and this was my first time not staying at a large resort. The Bungalow was perfect for me! From the furniture to the linens and decor, you’ll find NOTHING cheap in this Bungalow. Larry doesn’t just want you to enjoy your room, he also wants to make sure you enjoy everything Exuma has to offer. He has put together everything you need to know about where to go, places to eat, etc. It’s in a perfect location! I even extended my stay 2 more days! Perfection in paradise

Exuma Bungalow surpassed our expectations in every regard. Other properties we looked at within this price band simply could not compete in terms of standard of finish and location. The bed was super comfortable and the large shower a real treat after long days at the beach. The use of the facilities at Hideaways was the icing on the cake. Larry, the owner, provides all of the information you could possibly need for holidaying on the island prior to travelling. He was available 24/7 on whatsapp for the duration of our stay and has the wonderful Janetta in resort to deal with any issues that may arise - not that any did. We would 100 per cent stay at this property again and have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

Exuma Bungalo ROCKS!

We loved our recent stay at Beach Bungalo! From the initial booking until day of check-out, Larry was accessible and a wealth of knowledge! The information packet he sent out when we first reserved our villa became our "go-to" for everything. We rented a car (highly recommend) and kept in in our car and referenced to it every single day. We would not have been able to make the most out of our 5 days without all the recommendations. The Bungalo itself FAR exceeded our expectations. It was so quaint and cozy and beautifully decorated and had everything we needed! It was centrally located to all the breathtaking beaches and wonderful restaurants. We will definitely return to Exuma Bungalo!

BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

What can I possibly say…beautiful, location, communication, updated everything!! I can not say enough about John, the bungalow, Hideways, staff, restaurants, and I could go on and on!!! We loved, loved our visit! John’s helpfulness with renting a car (we rented from Thompsons), boat rental (Minns), Driftwood cafe, Shirley’s Fish Fry (love me some Sharon—my new friend)! My husband and I had the absolute best time! Relaxed and soaked up the sun! We hated to leave but we will return!!! John thank you for EVERYTHING!! You are the BEST!!! The Exuma Bungalow was absolutely PERFECT!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!

Best Property in Exuma!!

The property - perfection! Larry upgraded us to his villa for my 50th birthday! The view from the front door / deck was breath taking! Being able to sit on lounger and watch the sunrise was priceless. The villa has all the comforts you need - kitchen, small living room / dining room and very spacious and comfy bedroom with a gorgeous master bath! Easy access to washer dryer. Having access to Hideaways and all its amenities was key!! Owner - Can’t say enough good things about Larry. His wealth of knowledge of the island was great and he provided us so many recommendations that made our stay so memorable. He was available and extremely responsive for any questions we had. This IS THE PLACE YOU WANT TO STAY!!!!

Everything and More!

From check-in to check-out, we couldn't have asked for a better experience! The staff at Hideaways was very knowledgeable and accommodating with any request we had. The hosts were also helpful from pre-trip planning and a guide to the island, to answering late-night texts when you accidentally lock yourself out of the bungalow.. As for the bungalow itself, we knew we had picked a great place right when we checked in and the lady at the desk exclaims, "You all are in for a treat. They did a great job with that place." The space is exactly as described, and perfect for some R&R after a long day in the sun. Convenient location - we walked to the Fish Fry a few times for quick bites and drinks, and the resort shuttle into town that runs throughout the day was ideal for maximizing our time and experience during the trip. We highly recommend staying at the Exuma Bungalow and will certainly return during our next trip to the Bahamas!

Perfection in Paradise

From the moment I booked this trip on VRBO I knew I made the best choice. Larry, the owner, was very communicative. He sent a welcome email along with very pertinent information from check-in to car rentals, good beaches to visit, restaurants to enjoy and much more. He encouraged me to ask any questions that I may have. As the trip drew closer I reached out to Larry multiple times and he always answered me in 5 minutes or less! It was such a refreshing experience. The best part of the trip was that we were upgraded to the oceanfront unit due to some difficulty on Larry's end. There was no additional charge and we were thrilled. It was lovely. Very clean! Even the floors!! We thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. This property is very centrally located. We did rent a car so that we could explore the island. I recommend this property highly. Thank you, Larry, for everything.

I'm sorry we needed to move y'all to one of our beach front villas, but glad you took it in stride:) BUT, we really hope that visiting Exuma was a great part of the trip as well since it's such an amazing place and is special to us. We really do hope y'all will return to Exuma and will consider us again. We love repeat guests!

Home for the week.

Thank you Larry from your always smiling cleaning lady to your polite maintenance man Wade.. wrapped up our stay here at your beautiful, comfortable, and cozy Bungalow.. You had everything and more to accommodate us and what our needs were. Your place is relaxing, Clean and comfortable to sleep in. And your kitchenette was just perfect for our needs.. It is because of you and the native people and how they welcome you to their breathtaking views. That keep us returning. Everyone is accommodating and always so beautifully kind to anyone there who is visiting. It is all of this that will keep us returning. Oh that and the Food as well.. lol.. Thank you Larry and family for opening up to others to share in this beauti. I can not wait to see the final finish for your other 2 places. Oh my gosh Amy, how nice of y'all! We really do love this island and the people. There are beautiful beaches (of course others are WAY more crowded!), but Exuma just has that extra something. “Turn it down” as my husband would say.

We work - a lot. When we are able to get away, we want it to be easy, stress- free, and friendly. This trip checked all the boxes. The bungalow was the perfect size, the supplies and amenities were just right, staff at Hideaways were wonderful, communications with Larry were fast and as much as we needed. This private rental had all the benefits of the resort without feeling like we were in a hotel. Janetta was the housekeeper/on-site manager and was a delight. We loved Bri and Ralph who were in charge of the activities, equipment, pool, shuttle, etc. They took great care of us and we tipped them well for it. Nothing is cheap including food so I recommend buying some groceries at the Exuma market for some of your meals. We did a lot of cheese, fruit and cracker trays, cereal, yogurts and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches just so we could enjoy many meals out without worrying about budget. In addition, Splash - the on-site restaurant - has great food!! Larry leaves you a great guide for restaurants, beaches, activities etc in the room with really all the info you will need for your stay. There are some great games in the room that we thoroughly enjoyed with our downtime. I have not one negative thing to say about our stay except it was hard to leave.

Best Host /Stay in Exuma!

When I booked this stay at Exuma Bungalow, we were coming off staying in a moored sailboat, it was lovely, but we needed to check-in very early as departing boat early and really wanted showers on land! Larry , the host at Exuma Bungalow, was so responsive and accommodating! We checked in early and the unit seemed almost too good to be true! Early check-in, a unit manager to greet us, Janetta, who had a warm smile and hug to welcome us, the unit was beautiful, new furniture, all remodeled and a gorgeous huge walk-in shower! The kitchenette had everything you need including microwave/toaster oven and the fridge with a few cold waters and Bahamian beers to tide you over!! The bed was super comfortable, bathroom beautiful, plenty of towels, both bath and beach, books, games and a nice , large patio ! Truly, Larry and Nancy have thought of everything making this the most comfortable, well-equipped VRBO I’ve ever stayed! And the location is a very short walk across the street from Hideaways where you are able to use all of the Resort amenities including beach, pool, kayaks, game room, and the restaurant, Splash. Oh yea, I forgot to mention that the hosts even have their own private laundry room behind their beachside units that they provided us a code to access!! Seriously, you will not find a more thoughtful and gracious host and certainly will not find a better accommodation! Book from Larry and Nancy. One less thing to do so you can get out and enjoy Exuma!!

Beautiful Exuma Bungalow

Our favorite water of all time was Eleuthera UNTIL WE EXPERIENCED Exuma! The most beautiful water we’ve ever seen! And, Exuma Bungalow was the perfect place for my hubby and me to celebrate our 44th anniversary! Larry and Nancy have completely renovated the bungalow and it was perfect for our week! The bathroom is beautiful, the bed was comfy and the TV was huge! Larry gave us 14 pages of information about the bungalow, the resort, the beaches, the restaurants - everything we needed for our week! The Hideaways Resort has a restaurant on site, Splash, and the food was incredible and so were the pina coladas! We loved the pool, the gym, paddle boards and the kayaks! And, we snorkeled around the rocks just off shore and saw lots of beautiful fish including big yellowtail snappers! Just a 6 minute walk from our beach is Jolly Hall Beach which is secluded and the view was amazing! There are many restaurants to choose from! Our favorite was Shirley’s which is about an eight minute walk from Hideaways and the menu is incredible! Two nites we went to restaurants that were closed so call before you go to make sure they’re open! We rented a car and loved exploring the different beaches! We loved swimming with the turtles at Hooper’s Bay and our ferry ride (Elvis Water Taxi in Georgetown) to Chat’N’Chill for the Sunday pig roast! We loved swimming at the beach and feeding the stingrays! We rarely want to visit the same place twice but we are definitely planning our next trip to Exuma!

Absolutely Fantastic!!

I can’t say enough about this property! The Hosts were awesome! Very communicative, left a ton of notes on things to do and see, the unit itself was perfect. Very very nice. Newly remodeled, clean, organized, comfy bed, all that you would expect. I have absolutely zero complaints. If you’re going to Exuma, with just yourself, or as a couple, RENT THIS PROPERTY.!!!

Paradise in Exuma

Exuma Bungalow was perfect! From the moment we stepped into the villa we felt like we were home. It was so cozy and had everything we needed. The location was great as it was only 5 minutes from Georgetown and so many restaurants. Larry also provided an excellent list of recommendations from food to rental cars to excursions. We lived from that list and all of the recommendations were great. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay! We will most definitely be back!

We live in the Houston burb of Katy and found Exuma by accident and haven't looked back! The opportunity to purchase this property came up and we could finally realize a dream of owning our own piece of paradise. Over the years, we have made MANY friends in Exuma whether locals or others with the same love we have of this island. Although our kids are all grown, Exuma remains their favorite destination with friends and grandchildren as well!
We hope to provide everyone with a 'nice place to stay'. After being in the sun and sand and water all day long, we hope you will appreciate having a nice place to come home to.

We chose this bungalow because it is central to everything. Easily walk to restaurants and bars, beaches, car rental, etc. Hideaways has a free shuttle into George Town where you'll find the straw market for local souvenirs, additional restaurant choices, grocery and liquor stores and the govt dock where you can catch the water taxi to Stocking Island.

This is really a nicely updated retreat and we hope you will enjoy it as well. Everything was completed in February 2021 with all new flooring, ceiling, paint, plumbing and lighting fixtures, bedding, linens and towels, all appliances and we replaced the window A/C with a split unit. etc. It has a nice quiet covered patio so when those showers pass over the island, you can enjoy the outdoors listening to the rain.
