Away from it All
Our family stayed at the Boat House in mid June and my family agree that this house was the best we have rented over many years of rentals in different states.
The house is located at the end of twisty, curvy, rugged, private road through the woods.
Once you reach the house you will be delighted by the peaceful location at the edge of Long Lake. The only sounds you will hear are the birds and an occasion passing motorboat.
Enter the side door for the big reveal of a gorgeous open downstairs flooded with sunlight and views of the lake. We found the house clean, well equipped and decorated in a rustic ADK style. The living room has comfy seating a small flat screen w/ Netflix. The dining room has a big wooden table that seats six. The kitchen has a great big island, electric stove, griddle, double sink, big frig and every kind of utensil, gadget, dishes, pots and glasses you could every need. There were even bear and fish shaped cookies cutters! No dishwasher, but it was no big deal for us because we mostly only ate breakfast and dinner at the house and took turns doing dishes. The owner was kind enough to supply paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, cleaning supplies, and soap. Upstairs there are four roomy bedrooms with comfortable beds. There are so many breathtaking views from the the deck and my husband, an artist, painted a different view everyday.
The location was ideal, 10 minutes to the little mountain town of Long Lake with an Old Victorian hotel, tiny grocery store, general store, Seaplane hut and ice cream stand. 20 minutes from Buttermilk Falls and the ADK Museum (It took us two days to cover this awesome museum – be sure to save your receipt bc it’s good for 7 days) and 30 minutes from the Wild Center in Tupper Lake. Tupper Lake is a slightly larger town with a grocery store, Pharmacy, movie theater and more restaurants. There are also lots of great hikes in the area for all different levels.
The highlight of our trip was a ride in Tom Helms seaplane. Nothing like seeing the beautiful mountains and lakes from 1400 ft up.
Thank you Liza and Don for a wonderful vacation we will remember forever.
Our stay at the Long Lake Boathouse was terrific!! The house offers the perfect Adirondack experience with fabulous views of the lake from the front porch, the beach, and the dock. The property's proximity to town makes shopping for groceries and boat/canoe rentals a snap. Many thanks to Liza and Don for being so responsive and attentive before and during our stay. We enjoyed our time at the Boathouse very much, and we hope to return again in the future!
Charming renovated boathouse and beautiful location
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hosts were gracious and available, the house was clean with rustic yet upscale touches, and the water, setting, and area are beautiful. We were here in early June and it was chilly; there was a wood stove that was a bit smoky and were a few electric heaters that kept us toasty. The lake and location are fantastic, and there is good hiking nearby. The general store in town carries more that I expected and there are a few places in town for eats and drinks. The only criticism I have is that not having any kayaks or canoes on the property for our use was inconvenient; if you bring your own, you would have to do an awkward carry from the parking area, or you can rent in the hamlet of Long Lake, which is a 40 minute paddle ride each way, and then have to coordinate with one of the Outfitters based on their availability and hours. We used Raquette River Outfitters’ Long Lake store, and they were very accommodating. You are also expected to bring your trash to the landfill when you depart. Other than these minor inconveniences, it was an overall wonderful stay.
Great place to get away....
We enjoyed the peacefulness and tranquility of the boathouse location. The camp is better than the pictures. Would stay again. The property owners follow up and checked to see how are stay was going. Very nice gesture!
Darling! Great View!
The house is extremely well done, down to every detail. It is a great space as far as size, layout, comfort as well as having every amenity. The view is wonderful and you are in a good location close to a couple of restaurants and decent grocery store. Your host is very prompt, communicative and nice. Highly recommend!
We stayed at the boathouse for a few nights in early June. The goal was to relax and enjoy nature. That is exactly what we got. The boathouse is in a beautiful, remote location. So it was very nice and quiet. However, it was a quick ride to the town, where we rented a boat. It was probably a 5 minute ride by boat to the house. The house was literally on the water and the view was breathtaking. The access to the lake was super easy, even though the beach was covered with water (since it was early in the season). The house was very spacious, very well stocked and the host was super nice and easy to deal with! We will definitely want to stay here again!
