Better than advertised - exceptional value!
Every Autumn my wife and I spend a week or so in the Adirondacks. This year Long Lake once again came up in the lake rotation (i.e Saranacs, Blue, Raquette, Placid, etc.). We are so glad it did, we can not recommend Liza and Don's camp enough. Their boathouse maintains a rustic Adirondack charm with the modern conveniences of a restored camp. Privacy is assured as it sits at the very end of a wooded drive. Our biggest concern renting a lakefront boathouse was that it may smell like....a boat. Rest assured it does not - the home was clean and well kept/maintained. Liza sent an email on our night of arrival to ensure everything was as described and that we had settled in. Having rented at other locations in the past where we had issues, and were not able to contact the owner, this was a nice touch. Communication before, during and after was excellent. The owner's provided excellent activity suggestions for those not familiar with the area. For those inevitable, "rainy days in camp" your are close to two excellent, award winning museums: The Wild Center in Tupper and Adirondack Experience in Blue. Of course the camp itself is stocked with games, books, and a DVD player. Summing up I'd like to say we've spent much more on rental homes in the Adk's. but this spot is our new favorite. We'll definitely be back!
We're so happy you enjoyed your stay and would love to have you return anytime!
View, deck, comfortable beds, theme decorations, kitchen and dock 5 stars.
As a group of 8 adults we were comfortable. Kitchen had everything we needed. But the view from the deck is terrific. As we read in earlier reviews the walk down to cabin and back up to parking lot was hardest when unpacking and then repacking to go home. But the stone steps are from nature and would be a shame to replace with something man made. The owners did tell us there wasn't room to park the boat trailers after we unloaded our boats at the public launch, which by the way was was very nice and easy to use. Because you cannot let your trailers sit at the launch parking lot overnight, a member of our party made a phone call to the municipality of Long Lake and was told we could park them at a city owned lot. We did without trouble. The owners were quick to answer any concerns we had, and checked with us to see if we were comfortable. Appreciated all.
Lovely stay at Long Lake with the family!
This is a cozy lake front home. It is a peaceful and beautiful location. It is a special place and you can tell the owners love their home. There wasn't a need that wasn't met. They offer a canoe and kayak as well as a fire-pit for their beach area. There is also a dock for the kids to jump into the lake. There are also a good number of games on hand and a nice sound system to play music. That being said, it is a little work in that you have to bring your own linens and firewood. We had a couple of nights where it got very cold so we had a fire in the wood stove to heat the place. It was cozy but we went through a good amount of wood. Thankfully they have some on hand to help supplement what you bring. (this is not as big a deal if you don't have to worry about heating the house and are just having fires outside)
Overall, our family had a wonderful time and loved the boathouse!! What a find!
We're so glad you enjoyed your stay! Welcome back anytime!
Thanks to all our renters for bringing your own sheets and towels! As the boathouse sits on the edge of the lake this helps to limit water usage reducing the strain on the lakeside pump up septic system.
Wonderfully cozy home right on Long Lake--peaceful and beautiful!
We had a super awesome, wonderful time at your home!
hilly and rocky
It wasn't bad, but could have been nicer. Love the lake.
Having been visitors to Long Lake more than a dozen times over the last 25 or so years, we've become accustomed to the long and winding roads that lead us to our sanctuaries away from the bustling world of Wilmington, Delaware.
This long and winding road that led us to the "Boathouse" provided, perhaps, the greatest surprises we've ever experienced in our years of coming to Long Lake.
We parked our cars at the top of a hill with an adventurous path that led down to this gorgeous house that features 4 bedrooms and 1.5 baths. My partner and I and the rest of our party felt like little kids rushing into the house and calling dibs on which room we would all take.
But we weren't ready for what we were about to experience once we put down our luggage. We all convened in the living room and finally opened up the double doors and a balcony/deck overlooking our most favorite lake in the world: Long Lake. The view from the deck is incomparable. The fact that we were treated to a little private beach all our own for the week was worth the cost of the weekly rent alone.
Our party enjoyed so many glasses of wine, fiery s'mores, and lakeside laughs on this gorgeous beach that we had to be pried away from it by the time the clock struck "checkout!"
You will not just fall in love with the beach and the bedrooms, but you'll be bowled over by the space and accessibility of the kitchen. We've stayed in more than half-a-dozen rentals in Long Lake over the years and this is, by far, the best equipped kitchen. We do not like to eat out every night, so we come prepared with groceries and are very familiar with Northern Borne, the grocery store in town. There was no shortage of plates, glasses, utensils, and cookware. And we made good use of the grill outside. The dining table was the perfect size to accommodate our party.
While we don't care much for television while we are vacationing, it was nice to have a good wifi signal and a smart TV with Netflix access; we watched a movie one night to go along with our s'mores!
All in all, the Boathouse is more than worth the cost of entry. You will be delightfully surprised once you make it to the end of the drive with what awaits you. Also have to throw a shout out to our hosts, Don and Liza Lamb. I sent Liza several questions throughout the week and within minutes she would return a call to see if everything was ok.
Don't wait to book your stay at the Boathouse -- we may book the week you're looking for!
Thanks so much for capturing the essence of a stay at the boathouse! We hope you can come back soon!
