About this property
History Loves Company
Ideal for a romantic getaway for two, or a single person traveling for business or pleasure, buried in tropical foliage, the Loft on California is cozy 400 square-foot 2nd story walk up bird's nest atop of a meticulously restored 1926 bungalow style private home located in the Frazier's Addition garden district in historic downtown Stuart, Florida.
The roofline apartment is packed with upgraded features including king size bed, large bathroom with sparkling custom artisan tiled shower stall, floor to ceiling stained glass windows, newly remodeled full kitchen with stone counter tops, wood floors, sitting area with large flat screen TV, cable and WiFi.
The living area is nearly doubled by the secluded adjacent outdoor deck/lounge area surrounded by tropical foliage and overhead trellis.
Unit access is via private exterior staircase to a programmable keypad entry door. You can program your own private code so there is no fussing with lost keys.
If cooking in the spotless new fully equipped kitchen is not on your agenda, historic downtown Stuart, situated on the waterfront of the St. Lucie River, is a five minute walk to multiple restaurants and bars covering all budgets from waterfront fine dining and seafood, to casual Thai/sushi, sports bar and Italian food. Dress it up or dress it down with shorts and flip flops...anything goes in the relaxed and casual south Florida environment.
The centerpiece of downtown Stuart is the historic Lyric Theater performing arts center offering great seasonal live music and theatrical performances. Downtown also offers great shopping for clothes, fine art, crafts, salons, yoga and massage therapy.
Pristine beaches are a 10 minute drive or a 20 minute bike ride.

About the host
Hosted by Bruce Wall
Kim and Bruce are a very warm, welcoming and laid back couple who live onsite. They are there if you need them, but otherwise are out of sight if you don't. All of the stained glass in the residence was designed and by Kim. Now a retired glass artist, Kim is a professional pastry chef who enjoys creating edible art. Bruce, who has worked in the aerospace industry for many years, is a seasoned water sportsman who enjoys paddle boarding, surfing, fishing and scuba diving. Don't let him convince you to try out his Indo Board balance trainer, you may end up on your rear end with a bruised ego...nothing that an ice cold beer won't heal.
Why they chose this property
Whether is it is a lovable puss-in-boots or a 1926 old Florida bungalow, Kim and Bruce are always looking for a good rescue project. In a sad state of neglect and disrepair, in 1989 they fell in love with and purchased this charming bungalow style home and over the years have meticulously and personally restored this home to it's original charm, yet have elevated it to a new level by tastefully integrating modern features and upgrades.
