Really beautiful authentic historical property with great amenities and an excellent location. Our room was spacious, clean, and full of atmosphere. The only downsides were minor: since this is a historic property, there's no central air conditioning. The room we were in took a while to cool down with the window unit A/C, but the fans in the room helped a lot. Overall, this was one of our favorite places we've stayed in Galveston, and recommend it to anyone who wants an authentic Victorian mansion experience.

This property is very beautiful!! The rooms were very clean and spacious. The location is perfect for the Strand and there are many local businesses, restaurants and bars within walking distance. Communication with the property owner was very effective, check-I’m/out process was very quick and easy. This stay was just what we needed for our vacation time in Galveston. Thank you, so much!!

The mansion was an elegant snapshot of the time period of the early 1900’s and carefully restored and kept for all to enjoy. The host were thoughtful and kind and made us feel totally at home and made our stay both memorable and comfortable. Would definately recommend to other couples.

Mansion in Galveston

Very nice place to stay. Comfortable conditions, very conveniently located. Was nice to think back to how it was to live in a mansion back then. Hosts were very personable and easily accessible. It was a great stay.

It is a beautiful home, however we were fairly disappointed. We were moved to what was supposed to be the "most luxury suite" in the home. However we were never able to get the room temperature comfortable. There was a large hole in the bathroom floor. There was a dog that barked every-time we went up the stairs. Just not the stay we expected.

Lady I don’t know what you are talking about . This suite has a brand new floor . You said we have a large hole in the middle of the floor . You are full of it . They is an access point behind the clawfoot bathtub , which is necessary and yet somehow this disturbed you. Our staff found you rude entitled and definitely not typical of the nice guest that usually grace our mansion. Perhaps you would be better suited to the Motel 6

My Review

The home is beautiful. It is in the ideal location for on the strand and Opera House. The rooms were clean and spacious. The owners were always reachable and the check in/out was simple. I thoroughly enjoyed the first time I stayed and now the second time. I will be back again.

Very unsatisfactory

The property was beautiful but when I went to check in the room was hotter than it was outside. I am 8 months pregnant and even my 4 year old son was sweating just from being in there the 15 minutes we were. I addressed it with the property manager and he said he’d give me a refund if we don’t stay. I told him the property is beautiful but we can’t stay due to lack of ac. He said he would love to give me a refund and I haven’t been able to get him to respond since. I am very disappointed with the fact that I booked this place months ago for my family vacation and had to pay for another spot and was told I’d receive a refund and didn’t. Personally, I’ve never dealt with anyone like this. Definitely a con artist in my opinion.

They put us in the basement

First off, contact with management was great. We received a refund for our stay and had no issues with in-person and texts from the manager and owner. But our stay was rough. There are two rooms, one suite and one bedroom (the room only has a bed and a light, the bathroom is not attached) that are located in the basement/old servant's quarters of this home. Unlike like the rest of the gorgeous Victorian home, these rooms are very janky and shabby and don't share any of the charm that the rest of the house has. I could not find pictures of these rooms (called Prohibition and Rose Garden) on ANY listings across the plethora of websites that this mansion is listed on, and for good reason. The rooms have makeshift doors that don't actually give any privacy, hold in the walls to the outside, random toys and dolls from previous stays, dirty towels, and no central A/C. The beds in both downstairs rooms are double beds fyi, not Kings as said in all the listings I could find. This room was given as an 'upgrade' since it has a living room but is not the Garden Lace Balcony Suite you would expect from this listing. The Garden Lace room is actually located in the main portion of the house, far away from the drab Prohibition room. I wish I could upload pictures to my review to show the dirt, poorly covered windows, and rough DIY job of this room. I would love to stay in the main part of the house sometime, but I wouldn't book again out of fear that I get put downstairs again.

We love our guests even the crank ones and overly entitled . We more this guest to help accommodate them with stairs and mobility and they complained anyway . You can’t win them all and we have thousands of return guests who are slightly more graceful . We always do our best and over a great stay for our guests. If the stay isn’t perfect we want to hear about it and fix it

Message from Host Morning of Check In Ruined Entire Trip

I received a message at 9 am the morning of check-in saying my room had been changed due to another guest's mobility limitations. Instead of my reservation, we would be staying in a different room each night & he hoped I had a "sense of humor." He assured me housekeeping was able to help us move daily. To say the least, I was not happy & immediately voiced my disapproval. Host offered one night refund plus provided a free night in the future if I would like to stay again. That did not make the current situation any better in a town with several hundred thousand visitors. I had made reservations months in advance due to the crowds expected that weekend as well as the desired proximity to the event. Changing accommodations was not possible without paying double the price AND being farther away. And, I did not want to spend time during my vacation to move rooms every day and I certainly didn't want staff moving my belongings. I asked for full refund & Host agreed, however, it took over an hour on the phone with VRBO to get it done because Host did not want a negative mark on his VRBO ratings. In the end, I didn't go on my trip. Unable to find other acceptable accommodations, the host unwilling to honor the reservations made months ago, and then wasting 3 hours trying to deal with getting a refund, was frustrating & stressful. I also lost hundreds of dollars on non-refundable event tickets. Horrible experience. Do not recommend.

Great property

The home was beautiful. We loved it and the neighborhood. It was our first stay in Texas and we needed a place to stay before we left on a cruise. It was well within walking distance to the Royal Caribbean port and to many other spots on the island. We would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful home

We so enjoyed our stay! We stayed mid November so it was the off season, so the city was pretty quiet, which is perfect for us. The home is gorgeous, well maintained and Karin was fantastic! Definitely would stay here again. 4-5 block walk to everything you could want to do.
