The property was great, just be aware that it is in the hills and requires driving windy roads to access. Location is relatively central to both Monterey and Carmel.
My wife and I stayed here a few days. It’s a beautiful property. Only issue was not being aware we are in the woods and large and small wildlife abounds.
The house was beautiful, the view was amazing. Nice kitchen well stocked. It was great for a family of 6 but if I was with 3 couples it would have been disappointing for one couple. it’s really not a three bedroom. The third sleeping are is a sitting area with a privacy screen. Loved our stay there!
We stayed here with friends and our 2 year old and had a wonderful time. The home was spotless and prepared for our stay, with lovely little touches throughout the house. The sunroom was nice to have coffee in the morning and the house was close to anywhere we wanted to go. Highly recommend.
My family (5 adults) were very comfortable in the house. The location is close to all the must-see areas of Monterey and the Big Sur coast. The view from the kitchen is fabulous and the birds gliding over the valley are a wonderful bonus. Communication was prompt and easy. I highly recommend. Thank you!

Love, so glad you and your family enjoyed our home. You're welcome back anytime you want to get out of that Texas Heat. Craig langkamp
Gorgeous views, great location (close to Monterey and Carmel), very attentive host. House was well appointed and very comfortable for a couple. Only slight downside is that there is no bathroom on the main level, but if you aren't traveling with anyone who can't do stairs easily, it's not a big deal.

Stunning views, great location, and welcoming hospitality
While unassuming from the outside, the interior of this house is lovely and so inviting, the hosts having thought of lots of little things to make it easy and enjoyable as a getaway. The view is stunning and the location - an easy drive to everything, sitting between Monterey and Carmel - is also a short drive from the Jack's Peak park for a hike with a view. We highly recommend this fabulous house!!

Don & Elizabeth, So glad you and your family enjoyed your stay. We try to make each guests stay as comfortable as possible. We hope to see you again the next time you need a quiet get-a-way. Craig Langkamp
The property was clean, well-stocked, and a great jumping off place for our day trips to Big Sur and surrounding areas. The view was spectacular and the neighborhood was very quiet. Beds and furniture were very comfortable. Craig was a great host and communication was flawless. Thank you!!
This house location reminds me of the cabin I had in North Lake Tahoe. It's a wooded forest area, very quiet location but with a view of the Bay in the far-off distance. The inside of the house is just beautifully laid out with a very nice kitchen and all the necessities needed throughout. I would definitely enjoy returning here again for a relaxing getaway.
The view of Monterey Bay and the nearby hills covered in Monterey pine was even better than the photos could capture. The location was quiet and dark at night. The house was nicely decorated with artwork throughout and very comfortable. The kitchen has everything we needed. We were happy to find the place stocked with firewood. We would have liked more water pressure in the shower. Overall a fantastic vacation rental. We would love to return someday.
Lovely house in the woods. Not for young children as many art objects around the rooms.

This is a property with lovely views, a relaxing feel, and a warm and engaging manager. Stay here!
This is a beautiful property as the pictures reflect. Inside the house is very well appointed and up to date -- clearly the product of recent updates -- and has multiple areas to sit and enjoy the scenery or TV. The kitchen is well stocked with all the necessities. My husband, adult daughter and I had a wonderful time and would come back here readily. For a family it is ideal and the fact that there is only one full bathroom proved not to be any problem at all as the half-bath was also quite spacious. The manager was available readily as well providing a wonderful array of welcome goodies.

A slice of heaven
My wife and I had the pleasure of enjoying our wedding anniversary at this wonderful home. Imagine a 5 star hotel without the staff. This home is both enchanting and sophisticated. The owner is easily accessible and kind beyond measure. We would re-rent this home simply based on his kind-heartedness. Nonetheless, the home itself speaks volume. Class, elegance and privacy. Thank you Craig and See you next year!

Mariza, So glad you and your husband had a special time at the Jack's Peak house. We also feel it is indeed a very special place to relax and unwind on the Monterey Peninsila. Come back and see us anytime you can sneak away. Craig Langkamp
The drawback to the property is twofold:
- Stale, musty smell inside. Lack of ventilation before arriving.
- Older home with other people staying a few feet from home. Not as advertised.

Gary, I'm sorry that you commented on the issues you mentioned. Every review 40+ on VRBO and 50+ on Airbnb have been 5 STAR . The house has excellent cross ventilation and we have NEVER received a complaint for musty smell. The fact that there is a guest house on the property that in no way interferes with the main house was clearly stated prior to your arrival. This is a multi million dollar home with extensive original art and we maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and follow all county guidelines on cleaning and disinfecting. It is indeed the best value for it's location and accommodations in the area.

Impeccable home and extremely kind people
My family recently stayed at this gorgeous home for three nights. We found the home to be stunning and comfortable, and the owners wen the extra mile to make sure that we were safe and well-cared for during a major storm and power outage that hit. They went out of their way to bring us candles and torches and even went out of their way to escort us home when the regular route was closed do to fallen trees and power lines. We will be back , for sure! Our only complaint was that we couldn't find a broom and when we asked for one, they insisted that we not worry about sweeping up and that the house keeping would take care of it!!! Music to a mother of three's ears!

Lovely home and view
My husband booked this house for our anniversary weekend. As others have said, the house is absolutely gorgeous with a fantastic view. The furnishings are modernish but comfortable. The bed and linens were wonderfully comfortable. The welcome goodies were very nice and unexpected. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful but fairly close to all the local sights. There was an outdoor grill that was so clean it looked brand new which we used to grill local seafood. Craig, the property manager, was very responsive and super nice.
A hiking guidebook was marked with local hikes so we tried Jack's Peak county park which was lovely and a new place for us even though we have been to the area many times. The other thing we did was to check out the new Dali museum in Monterey.
The only suggestion I'd make is to provide more and better knives for cooking in the lovely kitchen.

Lovely home with view near Carmel and Monterey
My wife and I were delighted to stay here for the weekend. This home has been completely renovated with class and taste, and sports new furniture, fixtures and appliances, paint, floors and window coverings. There are books on the coffee tables, the latest magazines to peruse, and art photography on the walls. It certainly does not have the feel of a rental home, it feels rather like your invited in to the home of a sophisticated and wealthy friend.
The location is ideal, midway from both Carmel-by-the-Sea and Monterey, only about 10min in either direction, and only about 15 or 20 from Carmel Valley. It is located in the hills just to the east of Hwy 1, commanding spectacular views of the Pacific, which you can enjoy from a tripoded telescope facing out one of the several floor to ceiling windows facing the west. And if you're a cyclist, you can head right out the front door and cycle some of the best hill climb rides in California, down to the sea and back up again.
Comforts include great furniture and beds, luxurious linens and towels, a state of the art kitchen and laundry, and wifi.
Downsides: none.
I'd come back here in a heartbeat. Beats staying in any hotel in the area.

Beautiful luxury home in the perfect location!
My husband and I spent a wonderful 4-day weekend at this beautiful home in the Jacks Peak neighborhood of Carmel. Our stay was perfect in every way, starting with the day we booked the property with the manager, Craig. Craig always responded immediately to all of our questions prior to arrival, and had the house set up with everything at our fingertips. The home has just been remodeled with great attention to detail and aesthetic. There are spectacular views of Monterey Bay from nearly every room in the house, and we loved lounging in the sunroom admiring the view while basking in the warmth of the pot belly pellet stove by the window. Since the home is equidistant from downtown Monterey and downtown Carmel, we were able to enjoy the Monterey Aquarium as well as the beach and restaurants in Carmel. We also enjoyed hiking at the top of Jacks Peak, and especially loved the incredible views at Point Lobos, only a short drive from the home. We had plenty of space to share a meal with our friends on the wrap-around deck with views of the Bay. Jacks Peak is the best kept secret in the Monterey/Carmel area, as it has less traffic and less fog than other destinations nearby. Although it was only the two of us this time, we plan to bring our friends and their kids the next time, and there will be plenty of room to sleep all 6 of us. We can't wait to go back!
