My family and I had a wonderful stay here. The large windows that line the back of the house show off beautiful views of the bay. It was very spacious and had everything you could need. If you’re looking for fancy, this isn’t it, but a wonderful family spot. I highly recommend and would stay again.

Perfect family getaway
Our stay on Starfish Lane was magical. From the first night laying on blankets on the lawn for stargazing, to exploring Raccoon Cove in the kayaks during all different tide levels, we truly got to experience Maine. The deer walked through the yard regularly, and we even saw a fat porcupine waddling across the road on our way out of town. The house had all we needed and was off the beaten path, but close enough for us to explore Acadia and Bar Harbor during the day.
What an amazing stay we had! Waking up with amazing views of the ocean, we didn't want to leave the cottage! Very convenient location to Acadia but far enough away that we had quiet and solitude at the cottage. Host recommended we stop at Acadia Provisions for grilling meats and they were spot on. Great grill setup and full kitchen and we cooked most of our meals at home. We would come back again!
We truly loved our stay at this cottage! It was perfect for our family of 9 with kids. We had plenty of space. The kids loved walking to the beach and kayaking. We even enjoyed eating dinners with a view and even spotted seals one night during dinner. The host was super helpful at all times! We would recommend this to anyone visiting the Acadia/Bar Harbor area.
We had such a wonderful and relaxing time while staying and touring around this lovely vacation home. The kitchen was outfitted with everything we needed, and all amenities were provided for, including kayaks, paddles and life vests to enjoy the waterfront.
Thanks so much to our wonderful hostess.

Hi Al, thanks for taking the time to review your stay. After reading your feedback, the homeowner wanted to share the following:
- We're glad you enjoyed the ocean view
- Most of our guests enjoy how roomy our cottage is, but we understand it might not suit everyone's preferences. We encourage our guests to review the listing carefully to determine if our cottage suits their needs
- We also provide an 8-foot table with eight chairs so that our guests can enjoy memorable get-togethers
- There is a closet toilet for emergencies when the main floor bathroom is occupied
- We have to keep the canoe and kayaks at the top of the stairs area, so they don't get lost or stolen. We're sorry for the inconvenience
Thanks again for sharing your feedback!
Ok cottage but needs upgrades and thorough cleaning
Overall, the house is fine but prob wouldn't rent again. House was ok but master bedroom had odor (dog or some other smell). My wife didn't mind upstairs room but would not stay in master. Might be ok for others but not us. I'd recommend removing shag carpeting.

Not a good set up for seniors or people with mobility issues. The stairs needed better railings and the lower stairs were very challenging, even though you could enter from the back of the house it wasnt always convenient. We couldn't see that accurately from the online pictures. May want to mentions those stairs in the listing. Really needs some updating with nicer used furnature. Really rough furniture that was too low and difficult to get out of. Twin beds upstairs had really firm mattresses. I had to add comforters as a topper to be comfortable enough to sleep. We really enjoyed the area though and Jessica was very responsive when we contacted her. This was definitely more of a cabin like set up than what we realized.

We're glad you enjoyed the area and appreciated Jessica’s responsiveness, though we're sorry some aspects fell short of your expectations. We sent your feedback to the homeowner, who wanted to share the following:– Our listing currently notes that this is a multi-level cottage with an exterior staircase required to enter, and interior stairs to reach bedrooms on the upper and lower levels. There is a bedroom and bathroom on the first floor, but we're considering options to make the staircase details even clearer for guests with mobility concerns.– We’re also planning additional updates during the upcoming off-season, so we appreciate you sharing your suggestions. Thanks for your thoughtful review, so we can continue raising the bar for future guests.
This was a great spot to use as headquarters for our trip to Acadia National Park. After a short hiccup checking in (soon remedied), we found the house to be very comfortable and welcoming. The kitchen was very well stocked with a great selection of cookware, as well as a variety of spices and seasonings available. The rooms were very comfortable, and two of them quite spacious. Two TVs gave us additional options for viewing, although the cable/dish supplier had some issues. The view from the house was outstanding, and included newly built stairs down to the rocky beach. Kayaks were available, but we didn't use them. Lastly, our host Carolyn was great. She was very responsive and helpful and a joy to work with. I would stay at this house again without reservation.

relaxing by the water
We loved the house! With 6 adults, including my 85yr old mom, everyone had space to them selves. Mom had the main floor bedroom, and enjoyed sitting in the sun room and on the deck while we were out hiking mountains in Acadia Park. Having the 2 full bathrooms was a must. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking tools and equipment ( we used the lobster pot every night!)
The hostess was wonderful. She was quick to respond to my many question prior to our stay, and even checked in with us while we were there.
The area was quite and peaceful, just so relaxing. We were close to ANP, Bar Harbour, and all the stores that we needed. Thank you for a great vacation!
We had a great time here. With 6 adults, including my 85yr old mom, everyone had space to them selves. Mom had the first floor bedroom and really enjoyed the sun room and deck watching the boats and humming birds while we were out hiking up mountains in ANP. The bathrooms are big and spacious to.
The kitchen was well stocked with tools and equipment ( we loved the lobster pot). The hostess was always available to answer questions prior to our stay. She even check in with us during the week to make sure everything was going well.
Beautiful, we’ll kept home on the water with Acadia National Park in background. Close to Bar Harbor and the Park. Host is very accommodating and friendly.
The cottage had everything we needed for a great stay. Host was welcoming and accessible.
A perfect afternoon reading on the deck, watching the water. Close enough to the Park and Bar Harbor, but well away from the crowds.
House includes steep staircase to lower level bedroom/bath/2nd sitting room.
We'd definitely stay here again.

Nice and big home. Nicely furnished kitchen. Beautiful view and access to the water!
We had a great trip at this charming home. Location to Acadia and Bar Harbor is excellent. The views from the home are fantastic. This would not be a good choice for a family with young children or the elderly.
We loved this rustic cottage. What shocked us was the view of the ocean we had turning into the driveway. We had no idea that the view was this expansive. The bay was quiet. No waves. No motor boats. Using the kayaks whenever we wanted was a plus! We will definitely consider coming back.
We stayed at this lovely property for 4 nights and it was great!! Plenty of room, clean, spacious, great rocky beach for exploring, AMAZING views from all rooms. We couldn't believe it when we pulled into the driveway. Would highly recommend without question.
excellent view, clean & roomy. close to Acadia & Bar Harbor (can see the lights of bar harbor at night).
Fabulous area for kayaking, nearby lobster cooking to bring back to house. many rooms upstairs and downstairs... very roomy
This property was very dated and it had a bad odor of a dog.
We enjoyed our vacation at this home. Great views of the ocean and Cadillac Mountain. It takes 30 minutes to get to Bar Harbor from there which wasn't too bad. The only thing was the strong odor of a dog in the 2nd floor bedroom and the odor on the bottom floor. You might want to bring your own linens. There's were very dingy but clean. For the price it was satisfactory.

Hi Terrie, We are glad that overall you enjoyed your stay at this quaint cottage! Many vacation rentals in the area do not provide bedding, but the homeowner provides linens to make things as convenient as possible for their guests. The owner also had the carpets professionally cleaned when the cottage was deep-cleaned at the beginning of the season, and pet smells have not been an issue for past guests. The property is located near the ocean as well as mudflats, and natural smells can go hand-in-hand with the location. We do appreciate your feedback, and we hope to travel with you again soon! Best, the Evolve Team
