Cosy and comfortable apartment

Really enjoyed our stay- lovely apartment, had everything we needed. Blessed with good weather and so we were able to make use of the private garden too. Would love to visit again

Amazing Space

What a lovely place to stay in the heart of the Peak district. We didn't need to move the car in 3 days we were there you are minutes from walks, pubs restaurants and shops. Val is on hand to help out in any way possible and has great local info. Highly recommend staying here.

Very relaxing, beautiful area.

Lovely apartment, Very stylish. Everything you could need is provided. Plenty to do; lots of walks and views, coffee shops, restaurants and little shops to browse around. The perfect catch up weekend with old friends.

Wonderful apartment with super helpful host

We had a fantastic stay at Val’s apartment. It was bright, cheery and sparkling clean. Val was welcoming and hospitable and made our stay really enjoyable. 100% recommended.

Walking holiday

The apartment was perfect- quiet and in the centre of town with easy access to the peaks. Well- equipped and well designed with a comfy bed! Had a fabulous few days away! Val and Lester were also very helpful on our last morning when we discovered we had a puncture.

Superb accommodation and hosts

Spotless, fully equipped spacious apartment with lots of thoughtful extras and very comfortable beds. Delightful secret garden. Secure parking. Very well situated for sightseeing the Peaks. Hosts very welcoming. Gave us lots of useful tips. Nothing too much trouble. A gem of an apartment. Would definitely recommend.

Immaculate apartment with lovely outside area

My first impression of the apartment was how clean and fresh smelling it was. The fully equipped kitchen had everything you needed from dishwasher tabs, cling film, condiments, and bin bags which is so helpful when self catering. A welcome basket was a lovely touch. Lots of freshly laundered towels that were changed mid-week by Val. Very helpful hosts who recommended the Middleton Top cycle trail which is very near by. Great trail which shows off the beautiful countryside in its full glory. Wirksworth was a good location to stay to visit the surrounding area. We visited Alton Towers, Carsington water, went fishing at different lakes in the area, visited Bakewell and the designer shopping outlet centre. Try the Birds Nest chinese takeaway, we had a lovely meal there and it’s very popular with the locals. We had a thoroughly enjoyable break away.

Mini-break in Derbyshire

Very comfortable, modern and well-equipped apartment. Had a lovely break there to celebrate a big birthday. All the facilities of the town on the doorstep. Particularly enjoyed quirky small cinema! Hosts Val and Lester very welcoming and clearly want guests to enjoy a peaceful luxurious stay.

Trip down Memory Lane

Great apartment, excellent location near town centre but with parking and elegant hidden garden. It had everything one might need for a relaxing and comfortable stay, with extra details such as a welcome basket of goodies, nice toiletries, interesting books and cds and information about the area. Val was an excellent host and we would highly recommend the apartment.

Great short break

A really nice apartment with character and everything you need for a short break. Super friendly hosts who were very hospitable. Was good for us to be near restaurants and pubs and was suitable for our elderly relatives.

A Super Stay

The Apartment is a wonderful, well equipped place to stay. As well as being modern and very well laid out indoors, the outdoor areas are great too. We enjoyed evening meals in “the secret” garden and the off road parking, with gates to keep the children safe was a bonus. The area is really good for eating out, browsing the shops and buying the essentials from the supermarket and we found that we were very close to many tourist attractions meaning we didn’t spend long periods driving around. Val and Lester are lovely people. Very friendly, always up for a chat and nothing was too much trouble. A very enjoyable stay.

Half Term Getaway

Wow Wow Wow... a fantastic few days away. The apartment was so homely with the added bonus of the welcome basket (especially after a long drive). I miss my early morning coffee fix in the secret garden. Would highly recommend the bike ride starting at Middleton Top. Thank you so much Val for making us very welcome. We will be back. Fantastic short family break

We have had a fantastic stay at the apartment with our 2 young children. It is a fantastic location, very close to all shops and restaurants. The apartment was clean and spacious and the hosts were very welcoming and helpful. The outside ‘secret garden’ as the kids called it was just a perfect outside spot for dinner and drinks. We would definitely recommend.

Lovely week away

Lovely apartment with great outdoor space, unfortunately due to weather unable to use. Very convenient for not only the town but also local attractions. Very clean and met by lovely host Val who made some great recommendations of where to visit. Local railway only two minutes from apartment a must to do. Local pubs all very good although as I said earlier not able to sit outside in any bet gardens. Apartment also has parking which is a great plus , I have a Land Rover and easily able to reverse in and get in and out both sides. A lovely 0lace to stay and I would highly recommend

Lovely apartment in a lovely little town

The apartment was excellent for a visit to Wirksworth. It is very well equipped and there are some great walks straight from the door. We also enjoyed cycling around Carsington Water which is nearby and a trip on the Ecclesbourne Valley steam train. Would highly recommend the Mistral for food - a little French Bistro in town, currently only doing take-aways but due to reopen soon. Val and Lester (the apartment hosts) are very friendly and helpful. We had a lovely stay.

Lovely place

We found this apartment warm, cosy and very well equipped. The apartment had a lovely peaceful atmosphere and we woke up to birdsong. Val gave us a warm welcome and left a very comprehensive basket of goodies! Thank you!

The Apartment Wirksworth and George House were renovated by Val and Lester. The main property dates back to Georgian times and was originally built as a coaching inn. The apartment and garden were a special aspect of the refurbishment bringing contemporary design to this historic site. For four years the apartment was home to Val and Lester during the renovation of the main house and the comfort and pleasure derived from this experience made them realise that others too, may enjoy this sanctuary in a beautiful Derbyshire landscape. Val, an artist and Lester a musician have lived in Wirksworth for twelve years and engage with the many creative opportunities which are on offer within the community, and the annual Festival in September brings thousands of visitors to the town.
