About Fenella Elms
Fenella Elms, ceramics artist, works in the workshop at the far end of the long cottage. You will find some of her work in the barn and by prior arrangement you are welcome to visit the workshops to find out more during your stay.
Why Fenella Elms chose Marlborough
Alma Barn is attached to the end of a cottage where the owners, the Elms family, have lived for nearly 20 years. In this time the barn has been used for horses, cattle and lambing before special listing permission was given to restore the barn to make a holiday let from 2012.

Beautiful and perfectly equipped
We had such a super time at Alma Barn. Booking and check in were so easy. We spent the days walking in the area which really is outstanding. We were so comfortable at the barn which has everything you need for a perfect weekend away.
Wow - just wow! A stunning property in a gorgeous little village. Everything you need is on hand - attention to detail superb - we wanted to move in! Thank you for a wonderfully peaceful weekend - hope to return as still so much to explore.
Thank you for your feedback Marina! So pleased you enjoyed your stay in Alma Barn. We really hope that you are able to stay with us again one day!
Alma Barn - fantastic!
We absolutely loved our stay at this barn. It’s decor and design inside is excellent and well laid out. The lighting system throughout is very well thought out and as we stayed in October, we were never cold as the heating warmed up the entire barn.
I would recommend anyone to stay here and the village green down the road after a short walk is very nice with a beautiful church their too.
Paul ( Tamworth).
Thank you for your review Paul; very pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay in Alma Barn (and that the heating worked so well!). Thanks for your comments on the decor & lighting which is all a bit quirky - we enjoy it and we are pleased you did too!
Impressive barn conversion in lovely village.
We had a lovely long weekend in this beautifully converted and creatively decorated barn conversion. The dramatic beams and high ceiling make for a really memorable place to stay. We enjoyed the countryside and went for long walks on the Lambourn Downs and the Marlborough Downs. Serious cooks may want to bring their own knives etc as the kitchen is fairly modestly equipped but, all in all, it is a great place to stay.
So glad you enjoyed your stay in Alma Barn, Paulo, together with the lovely countryside we are lucky to be surrounded by! Thanks for the feedback on the kitchen equipment, we will look into this.
The barn was a beautiful place to stay in a very nice English village. Within easy walking distance to a couple of village pubs and within easy driving distance to nearby larger towns. The owners were very helpful and responsive to questions. We were a family of four (with two teenagers) and the size worked fine for us to stay for three nights. Would definitely stay again!
Thank you Robert, so glad that you and your family enjoyed your stay in Alma Barn. We look forward to you staying with us again!
We’ve just returned from a weekend stay at Alma Barn and it’s a flawless country bolt-hole
Alma Barn is an imaginatively designed renovation of a historic farm building with two bedrooms on mezzanes above a wonderfully atmospheric living / dining / kitchen area with an adjoining bathroom. The decor, lightning design and furniture are all carefully selected to maximise the overall impression and comfort of the property and we loved everything about it! The owners - Charlie and Fenella - live immediately next door and are extremely helpful, but you rarely see or hear them - Alma Barn is a proper country sanctuary for total relaxation.
Thank you Vince! So glad to hear that you & the family enjoyed your stay in Alma Barn. We hope that you will return next time the circus comes to town!
