Esta cabaña en el corazón del pueblo de Bellapais ha sido renovada con buen gusto para combinar las mejores características antiguas y, sin embargo, ofrecer todas las comodidades modernas para unas vacaciones relajantes. Tiene un patio privado en la parte trasera de la propiedad donde puedes sentarte a la sombra. Una piscina privada con tumbonas y sombrilla grande. Excellent house

We had a fantastic time staying here, exactly as described, a home from home , everything spotless, bed very comfortable, very quiet neighbourhood, great base to explore the north of Cyprus, great communication from Mary and would definitely recommend if looking for accommodation in north Cyprus

Lovely cottage in Bellapais

Lovely quaint cottage in Bellapais, with a great pool. In walking distance to the Monastery and some nice restaurants. Mary was an excellent host; she arranged our airport transfers from Larnaca and car hire. The house had every bit of equipment you could think of. There were some lovely beaches in the area and plenty of supermarkets..also a great butcher nearby recommended by Mary...had some lovely meat on the rooftop BBQ. Would definitely recommend. Would say you definitely need a car to get about..make sure it's a small car as the lane up to the house is narrow. Overall we had a great holiday..very peaceful and relaxing

Perfect!

I booked (our first trip to North Cyprus)a year ago and immediately had an amazing response from Mary with recommendations for books about the island ,what to see,restaurants.She arranged taxis for us from Larnaca and back and booked a modestly priced hire car to be delivered.The house was a delight,one of the nicest,most comfortable and well equipped self catering properties we have ever rented.All the facilities and equipment were explained and we could easily contact her by WhatsApp.The roof terrace with views over Bellapais Abbey,the village and out to the coast was unsurpassed.

Wonderfull house

We spent one week in April 2023 in Marys house in Northern Cyprus. Everything was perfect. Mary organized the transfer from Larnaca airport to the house and the rental car, too. This was very comfortable, because taking the rental car from the southern part to the northern is a lot of paperwork. If we could give more than 5 stars for the communication, we would do so. The house itself is located approx. 100 meter above the little main road in Bellapais; very quit with a fantastic view on the Med Sea from the roof terrace. Supermarkets are located within 2-3 km. There are so many spots in the house to sit and relax; depending on the daytime and the sun. We went to many different restaurants in Bellapais, our favorite was the Bellapais garden (resevation is highly recommended). The Korineum golf course, which is a 20 minute drive away, is a fantastic spot for golfers nearby. Summary: Fantastic house for a very relaxing short trip. Thank you, Mary!

Lovely Bellapais house

Ideal holiday getaway. Charming accommodation with a lovely courtyard sitting area and roof terrace with views to the sea. Well appointed comfortable house with everything you could need and a very helpful host. Didn't get chance to try pool because weather was bad but it looked lovely.

Beautiful cottage in a stunning location with the mountains behind you and the sea in front

Mary was a complete dream to deal with; she was brilliant at communicating and extremely helpful. She organised everything including car hire and left really useful recommendations on places to eat and visit. The property reminded me of a Riad, it was beautifully decorated and perfectly formed. There is a very well equipped kitchen and 3 outside areas. The roof terrace is huge. It is right in the heart of beautiful Bella Pias and a short drive to the beaches of Kyrenia.

Fantastic

We have just arrived home from our stay in bellapais and already we are looking to return. The village of bellapais itself is like a step back in time with its wonderful abbey and fantastic selection of restaurants, the locals are very friendly and always have a smile or a wave for you and the staff in the restaurants and bars are so attentive. The house was exactly as seen in the pictures and has everything needed and more for a comfortable stay and the pool was just the icing on the cake, to get to the house there is a slight incline but this just makes the views from the roof terrace all that more spectacular If I had to give this villa a rating it would have to be 10/10 and as for Mary the owner she arranged all our transfers from the airport and also a hired car for us and was always available via email to answer any queries and give us information about the island 10/10

Take me back!!

Mary's small but perfectly formed house, is just delightful! Beautifully decorated, with big carved doors and comfy furniture. A good sized and well equipped kitchen, a very sweet and relaxing lounge (though if you're there in good weather, you wont need to use it!), and a big bedroom, with plenty of space for clothes, a lovely big sofa to relax on, AND a desk if you need to work (which my partner did for the 2 weeks we were there. The wifi is very good and suitable for videocalls.). It has PLENTY of outdoor space, with three different levels to enjoy - the stunning walled courtyard, with table and chairs, the terrace with the pool looking up the plant covered hillside (lots of seating options again), and the roof terrace overlooking the sea and Bellapais Abbey, complete with more seating options and BBQ! You will not want for anything at Marys. Also, Mary is a dream to communicate with - she helped us so much with all our questions before and during our stay. If you are travelling by rental car or taxi - be warned - the address does not come up on any map we tried. So do ask Mary for directions! However, once you get to the village, if you ask a local, you will find someone who knows 'Marys house'. We did not have a rental car, and I thoroughly recommend getting one if you want to explore beyond the village. There is one little off license in the village that sells a very small selection of goods (the village store has closed down - I presume due to the pandemic :( ), but there are plenty of restaurants to try! The best, are Bellapais Gardens (most fancy too), Bella Moon , and The Tree of Idleness. If you need to go to a supermarket, there are loads of big superstores about 10mns drive away nearer Girne/Kyrenia. The village did experience a few power cut outs when we were there, but Mary has plenty of candles to use if needed (we didnt), and they didnt last too long. We also needed to change the gas canister for the hob during our stay, which was initially daunting, having never done that before, but its no biggie! Worst case scenario, Marys cleaner lives (practically) next door, and is super friendly and helpful. If you need a taxi - try Osmans Taxi - Ozzie is the husband of the off license owner, Esin (flyers in the shop & shop window). Cheaper than his cousin Serhans Taxi service, Bellapais Taxi. But both are very good service. We will definitely be returning when we can :) Enjoy!

My wife and I had the most wonderful holiday here in Bellapais, the bungalow was truly home from home. We absolutely loved the location, the locals made so welcome, the restaurants in the village were fabulous, especially Bellapais Garden and the Kybele, unbelievable views and service. The Abbey was beautiful too. Our dwellings offered every utensil and catered for every need, being clean and very well presented. The pool was great, used almost daily to cool down, as the weather had been kind 75-85 degrees during the last two weeks of April. Our overall experience was so good in Bellapais, we actually looked for property, as we could have quite easily made it our home. Mary thank you for everything, we will be back, as this was by far our best holiday destination.

Delightful and characterful Bellapais house

We had a wonderful stay here. The cottage is just for a couple and as such is superb. Very well equipped, filled with comfortable furniture and local finds. There's a lot of room outside. Have to say we didn't use the pool as the weather wasn't hot enough, but the view over the abbey and to the sea drew us to the roof terrace every evening. The day was so clear yesterday we were able to watch the sun set over Turkey! All in all a lovely place to stay.

An amazing holiday experience

This is a fantastic property for a relaxing holiday. Mary is excellent at communications and organising transfers; no query is too much trouble. The villa and grounds are of a high quality complemented by the fantastic views out to sea. The village is beautiful and still full of charm and culture. A range of restaurants and bars were enjoyed during our stay and added to the wonderful holiday experience. The mountains are amazing; tracks were explored and wonderful sights were found. Both my husband and myself had an amazing time during our week in Bellapais, with lovely memories and thoughts of when we may return

Perfect little paradise

I came to this villa roughly seven years ago, I hadn't ever been to the Northern part of Cyprus, but was going to a wedding. It was very difficult to find a one bedroom villa, until I stumbled over this little gem. After that, I have made sure I kept in contact with Mary, and booked to go this year for two weeks. The property is well stocked, finished with a neutral yet "middle eastern" feel, the air conditioning in the bedroom is a life saver, the kitchen is perfect for those wanting to stay in a couple of nights, but there is a BBQ on the huge sun roof terrace, which is as it sounds a sun trap and a half, housing a large table and areas to sit and enjoy the spectacular views. You will see the sun set over Kyrenia everyday and see the world pass by as you guzzle/sip a gin and tonic. The area of Bellapais is gorgeous and perfect for those like me, who have a rule about driving on holiday, basically I will not do it, so we stayed in the area most nights and had delicious food at all of the restaurants. To name a few, Bella Moon is perfect if you want great service, delicious food and if you are very hungry - they give free mezzes as a starter, so don't go there if you aren't in the mood for a feast. The other favourite was the Bellapais garden hotel Restaurant, which offers and extensive menus for all budgets, lovely wine menu, stunning views of the Abbey and mountains, and the BEST service. Genuinely, they are wonderful. Kybele is a great spot, probably the best in terms of its location, but I wasn't impressed with the service. However you may experience something better, so definitely go there. The Tree of Idleness (I did see the irony when you read my next bit you'll get it), is a good one too, for those after a cheap and cheerful meal, very tasty and great views again but service not great (4 people stood around whilst I was desperate for a bill). I forgive it all though, as genuinely you are in paradise there. The shop in the village is well stocked, and they are real sweeties in there. Only thing Bellapais needs desperately is an ATM machine, for those wanting cash you will have to go to Kyrenia, so its a bit of a pain (especially if you live by my no driving on holiday rule!) Thoroughly recommend this wonderful home from home cottage - I have already sent it to my cousin for consideration and if Mary will allow it we would love to return! thanks again Mary

Fantastic Stay at Bellapais

We had a fabulous week at Mary`s cottage . We have visited North Cyprus numerous times , but this is the first time that we have not stayed at a hotel , it was really great to have the cottage to ourselves , its a really beautiful building with heaps of character and a lovely pool to cool down in when it gets too hot. Some lovely restaurants nearby , a special mention to Kybele which is in the grounds of the old monastery , great service and food at a reasonable price with the additional benefit of some breathtaking views . If you want the hustle and bustle of Kyrenia its easy to get a cab which costs 30 TL (about £6.50 at time of writing) there you will find a greater choice for places to eat . Mary was extremely helpful in sorting out airport transfers and car hire and very swift when answering the few questions that we had . Already looking forward to another stay at the cottage when time and funds allow.

Don't be fooled......

This is no cottage; it's a little palace! The website fails to do it justice. The front door opens onto stone flagged sitting room floor, suite/curtains in cream and white, with "antique" Turkish lamps, carved wood doors. Kitchen has everything you could ever need plus water cooler and juicer (oranges 12 for 2 euros).Bedroom also cream/white with extra sofa, desk, carved wardrobe and loadsa hangers. Real delight is sunken hippy cushioned courtyard with blue led lights at night, flower-surrounded pool, and roof terrace looking out over 13th century abbey - a must visit. We travelled the country every byway - this is the best village and with 3 outdoor areas to the property, just great. Do water the lovely plants. Great restaurants and bars in village, including terrific cocktail bar right outside abbey. Open air restaurant there have great waiters who became good pals over our 2 weeks. "Must sees," whatever your other interests, are ancient ruins of Salamis, our abbey of course, Golden Beach (dunes and endless sand) at end of peninsula (with beach bar), Famagusta old city, Nicosia bit disappointing but some interesting buildings. Do keep eyes peeled for beach restaurants right on water along Kyrenia ("Girne") outskirts. Really romantic, down tiny lanes/tracks, you have to really look - food great and wine cheap. Do not stay any length of time in Kyrenia, the dust and noise will drive you bonkers. In Bellapais do try the dried fruit opposite abbey - ask for mixture at 6 euros and you'll get a big treat in a carton, last you all holiday. Turtle season was upon us but bit early to see anything. Better luck in June/July. Loadsa hiking trails if you can cope with the heat. We had 30degrees for 2 weeks solid. Get tourist map, free at tourist info. Mosques and monasteries and castles galore. Do see Kantara castle at least (there are two more, growing straight out of the rock, amazing). You will gasp at 12th century engineering, and the views will make you dizzy. This holiday is perfect for couples wanting rest and privacy but travel and stimulation as well. A fascinating country with a rich history and great mountain scenery if you are willing to explore.

A fantastic holiday

The cottage is beautifully decorated with a rustic charm and yet provides all modern appliances. The kitchen is brilliantly equipped…. the best we have ever experienced. There are so many different areas to sit outside with wonderful views of a terraced garden, Bellapais Abbey and the sea. Located in the heart of the village you are within walking distance of many excellent restaurants and a small shop. Mary was extremely helpful and she also helped with organising airport transfers and car rental. We would highly recommend Mary’s cottage…. So much so we are planning a return visit.

Beautiful villa, fabulous holiday

Mary was extremely helpful throughout the booking process, helping us organise our transport and car rental for when we arrived. The villa was exactly as described and looked even better than the photos. Everything was clean and tidy and plenty of information was provided on both the villa itself and the local area, we wanted for nothing! The local area is beautiful and we sampled every restaurant! (The best is Salt and Pepper) I would definitely return here again.

Wonderful couple's retreat

My husband and I spent 12 days in Mary's gorgeous cottage. The pictures don't do her place justice. Very clean, beautifully decorated and had absolutely everything that we needed. The outside space in particular was spectacular...lounging by the pool, or up on the terrace overlooking the abbey during dinner, chilling out in the courtyard....there was a place to enjoy every part of the day. Bellapais itself is charming, great restaurants (think we tried all of them) and very welcoming people. We very much enjoyed the beaches, finding out favourite east of Girne. We would highly recommend this property to any couple seeking complete relaxation, tranquility and a chance to recharge in beautiful surroundings.

Delightful and charming

This is the third year we have stayed in this lovely cottage, and we have just booked again for 2017. If you like to relax in the sunshine in lovely surroundings then there can be no better place! The cottage is well appointed and feels like home rather than just a rental. The village of Bellapais is really picturesque, and its people are friendly and helpful. It would be difficult to beat this cottage which is why we keep returning.

Another lovely stay

This is my second time staying in this lovely cottage. I have stayed in Bellapais many times and this is my favourite. I can do no more than echo the other reviews, everything is well thought out, the cottage is amply supplied and the setting glorious. We are back later this year. If you are a couple looking to stay in this region of North Cyprus you can do no better than renting here!

Bellapais revisited

Having been lucky enough to get married in the grounds of Bellapais Abbey in 2013 we longed to return to the area for a holiday. This cottage provided the perfect place for 2 weeks of total relaxation. Situated in the heart of the village, you are immersed in to village life with easy access to the excellent local restaurants and amenities and only a short drive to the beach or the main town of Kyrenia. The cottage has been tastefully furnished and comes across as a home rather than the usual holiday rental. The courtyard and pool area are lovely areas in which to relax and the roof terrace provides a great view of the abbey. This is no criticism of the cottage but one word of warning - the street leading to the property has a very tight turn with only just enough room to manoeuvre the average hire car as we found out to our cost! We had an amazing time and would recommend this place to anyone wanting to appreciate Northern Cypriot culture in the comfort of a beautiful home. We hope to return in the future.

A Perfect Holiday

This is our second holiday in this lovely villa. Once again everything was perfect and we had a thoroughly relaxing holiday. We love the location with the Abbey and restaurants nearly on your doorstep, the gardens of the villa were superb and the pool great for a dip to cool off. If it was possible to give it six stars we would do so!!

Beautiful

This beautifully decorated cottage is full of rustic charm whilst offering all the mod cons for a comfortable stay. The outside areas have been cleverly designed to make the most of the spaces, whether you wish to relax in the Middle Eastern inspired courtyard over a game of backgammon, enjoy a dip in the private pool or just sit back with a glass of local wine on the upper terrace to enjoy the breathtaking views of Bellapais Abbey as the sun sets over the coast. We both felt very spoilt staying in such a stunning place and found it very hard to leave. Highly recommended.

I have known the island of Cyprus since I was 12 years old! I have lived in various parts of the island over the years but decided that Bellapais was the only place for me! I love the history of the village, the people and the relaxed atmosphere.

I first visited Bellapais with my parents when I was young and have loved it ever since! The friendly atmosphere and historic Abbey make it a wonderful place to visit.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

Although the cottage is for 2 people it offers all the conveniences that larger houses have - A private pool Air conditioning (in the bedroom) Overhead fan in the bedroom and one in the living room. Dishwashers. Microwave etc etc. It is just a very short walk in to the village for a meal at one of the restaurants, to get provisions from the village shop or a drink at the village bar.
