Fig Tree Barn is a recently renovated property thoughtfully converted to the highest standards. It is detached and whilst located adjacent to our home, Lund House, it retains full privacy.Visitors now have their own private outside space.The door in the dining/lounge area of the barn leads onto a large and stunning roof terrace overlooking the orchard.Here you can sip your favourite tipple,relaxing on comfy rattan chairs with cushions and stools or watch the sun rising whilst you breakfast around the table or the sun setting in the evening. The barn overlooks an apple tree orchard with far reaching views towards the pretty village of Hunsingore, which is located by the River Nidd. Many of our guests have commented on the wildlife they have seen from the lounge area including owls,hares,pheasants,hedgehogs, and deer .There is also a bird feeder which attracts many feathered visitors including woodpeckers,wrens,sparrows and bluetits..Outside the barn entrance, there is an ornamental pond with fountain and Koi carp and 2 fig trees growing up the wall, hence the name. There is ample and secure off road parking and a locked bike shed. From the attractive, glazed front entrance, an oak staircase leads up to the first floor accommodation, comprising a gallery landing, open plan lounge/dining area(with table and chairs) with oak floors and wood burning stove and fully fitted modern kitchen with breakfast bar and stools..There are 2 bedrooms, one double with fitted oak wardrobe and one with twin beds.There are 2 bathrooms, one en-suite and one with bath and overhead shower. The property is very light and airy thanks to its many windows and high ceilings.

About Suzanne Margiotta
We are a recently retired married couple called Frank and Suzanne.We both had busy careers.Suzanne worked in Human Resource management and Frank ran a flooring and carpeting company. However we wanted to keep active and started our barn conversion a year or so ago,managing the project ourselves and doing much of the work. We were keen to have it as a holiday let and know we will enjoy meeting our guests and sharing with them our passion for the area and information on all the beautiful parts of Yorkshire to explore We have spent much time and money to make the property into accommodation that we ourselves would love to stay in.We love the countryside and enjoy living in a rural location with no near neighbours but close to some friendly village communities.

Why Suzanne Margiotta chose Wetherby
We had always wanted a property with land for keeping horses and other pets. Lund House has 3 acres with lovely farmland views and no close neighbours. However it is not remote as we are close to main roads and Wetherby,York and Harrogate are all an easy drive away. We love the North Yorkshire countryside and Suzanne does regular walks with the Harrogate ramblers,rides a friend's horse and Frank enjoys his golf at Aldwark manor.From our home it is easy to visit so many places and we often also enjoy a day trip out to the coast(with fish and chips of course), the Dales and the North York moors. Hunsingore village is a friendly and thriving community with regular events in the village hall and church and the local Bridge Inn is great for good meals and beverages.
What makes this Barn unique
There is plenty of secure parking within our grounds and a lock up shed for bikes if required.Whilst the barn is located in our grounds it is detached with its own entrance and far enough away to enjoy complete privacy. Guests can walk a short distance (approx 5 minutes) to the Bridge Inn for meals or can walk into Hunsingore village along a footpath to explore the river Nidd and several rights of way. The other member of our family is a chocolate labrador called Chino who is very friendly but has his own enclosed garden space to run around in.We also have lots of colourful koi carp fish in the pond who are also very friendly and enjoy eating from your hands.

Frank and Suzanne where perfect hosts and the property was beautifully finished. I look forward to returning to this ideally situated home from home in the future.
Very clean, well equipped and cosy.
We stayed with another couple for 3 nights over New Year. The barn is very well situated for visiting York, Harrogate, Leeds and Wetherby. The owner's are friendly and welcoming. My only criticism would be there is a lot of road noise on the terrace which is the only outdoor space. As we were there in the winter this did not affect us as the barn is double glazed so quiet inside.

With regard to your one criticism we must clarify that the Barn is set in 2.5 acres and guests are very welcome to use the orchard which is quiet and sheltered and overlooked from the Barn and also make use of our large 2 acre field at the back of our property.In warmer weather we have often had children playing ball games in the orchard and adults joining in. .Guests can also enjoy the large ornamental pond, cobbled courtyard and watch the colourful fish.
The noise level on the balcony is very affected by weather conditions and is more noticeable when we have cold,windy (westerlies)and wet conditions so usually when guests would not sit outside.When the wind is in certain directions there is no noise whatsoever.As was stated the Barn is very well insulated and double glazed so very quiet inside.
We are fairly close to a major road but as other guests have said,it is a great location for accessing the good roads and therefore easily exploring the many beautiful areas of north Yorkshire.There are lovely views overlooking the rural countryside yet it is very accessible and not isolated.

We had a lovely 4 night stay with our son and my parents. The barn has been decorated and fitted to a high standard. The kitchen is modern with all the appliances you need. The whole place is big and you feel you have plenty of space. The local area is lovely and has plenty of places to eat, with many attractions close by. Overall a great find.

This is a beautiful barn with great views. We had a wonderful welcome, it's very comfortable and has everything and more you may need. It's location was perfect for York and visiting places all over the dales. Would highly recommend.
Very comfortable stay
Property had all you could want, one of the best cottages we have stayed in here and abroad.
The beautiful North Yorkshire coast is just over one hours drive away via easy roads. We have the world heritage resort of Whitby with its famous Abbey and connection to Captain Cook and Bram Stoker's Dracula, Scarborough with its lovely sandy beaches and ancient castle and Flamborough Head, which is an RSPB sanctuary with magnificent cliffs. Bridlington and Robin Hoods bay are also easily accessible for a great day out, along with the quaint seaside villages of Runswick Bay and Staithes.
The nearest airport is Leeds/Bradford, ( approx 20 miles away). The ferry port of Hull is approx 60 miles away. The use of a car or motorbike is highly recommended for exploring Yorkshire from the property, although there are good and flat cycling routes for the fit and active. Secure off-road parking is provided for up to 2 cars and bikes. There is a train station at Cattal (approx 1.5 miles) with frequent trains to York, Harrogate, Knaresborough and Leeds.A new York park & ride has opened A59
Hunsingore village on the river Nidd is less than a half mile walk via a road footpath. Wetherby, an attractive market town, is 3 miles away (an off-road cycle track is also available.) York and the Spa town of Harrogate are both 8 miles away and an easy drive (park and ride) or train journey. There are so many nearby places to visit, including Fountains Abbey, Newby Hall,Harewood House,Beningborough Hall (NT).The Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors are only an hours drive on easy main roads.
The Bridge Inn, both a pub and restaurant at Walshford, is only a 5 minute walk. The Bridge is privately owned and serves good food, including carveries and drinks 7 days a week. Wetherby is only 3 miles away and has free parking in the town. It also has a large Morrisons supermarket and a local market on Thursdays. There are many restaurants, including a Thai, Indian and Italian, plus plenty of takeaways and cafes, including a Costa. There are a number of banks and other quality local shops to explore.You can even buy a day ticket for fishing on the beautiful River Wharf at Wetherby. York is a fabulous, world-renowned medieval and roman city. You can visit the fantastic York minster, walk around the ancient walls, explore the Shambles with its overhanging shops, stroll along the river, take a boat trip, visit the Jorvik viking museum, the famous round tower and so many museums and churches. Harrogate is also a lovely genteel spa town, set on the stray ( a huge tract of green preserved space) and with the pump room museum, the Turkish baths, the Royal Hall and Valley gardens.There are 2 famous Betty's tearooms where you are transported back to a bygone age of elegance,one centrally located and one in the Harlow Carr gardens. Explore the Montpellier quarter, home to 80 exclusive shops,art galleries and antique shops.
There are countless scenic countryside walks in the area to enjoy and the owners, who are keen walkers themselves, can provide all the necessary details.
