About Catherine Foster
We are a family of 5 with 3 children who were 12, 15 and 17 when we bought the house, 2 dogs and a large extended family with young nieces and nephews age <1 to 8. We therefore wanted to find a house in an area where there was something to do for all ages and it took a couple of years looking and many rejections before we bought Beachside View. We are busy professionals and our holiday time is so precious that we want to stay somewhere with exacting standards and attention to detail so Beachside View is finished to that standard. We love being able to walk everywhere (beaches, surfing, restaurants, to buy lobsters or ice creams....) and not sit in queues for beach carparks etc. We take very seriously, the responsibility that you have chosen to use our house for your much planned holiday and ensure you will not be disappointed.
Catherine Foster purchased this House in 2013
Why Catherine Foster chose Newquay
The ever changing, unobstructed view of the beach from the garden patio and sitting room sold this house to us! It is something of which we will never tire and when we are older and less active, will just sit and look at it. The house isn't bad either! To have a sandy beach at the bottom of the garden and surfing at Fistral 200M from the front door, is to us, the ultimate British beach holiday. We knew of Newquay and Perranporth before looking at the house but not Pentire. Thank goodness we found it ! Pentire is a hidden gem and the area offers something to do for every member of our family whatever the weather. Nobody is ever bored. We enjoy having a whole host of different eateries and excellent restaurants to be able to walk to, most of them dog friendly. If we don't want to walk home, Atlantic Cabs charge us a very reasonable £5 from anywhere in the area. Newquay is a mile away if we want it for surf shops, supermarket, the cinema or station but we can spend a week at the house without going in to it
What makes this House unique
Adjacent beach from the back garden, world class surfing beach from the front, a stunning water view that is forever changing with the tide and a stunning and luxuriously furnished house in which to stay. We love being able to do so many diverse things without having to get in the car. This means our children can go off independently rather than always needing a lift! Having the water at the bottom of the garden (but the garden is totally fenced) is great and because it is effectively a tidal inlet (although called The River Gannel) there are not dangerous waves raging there. Meanwhile we can walk 2 minutes to Fistral which removes the hassle of trying to find a parking space. It's quicker to go and look at the surf than dial up the web camera. 2 or 3 families staying together can easily do their own thing on foot from the house and then meet up back at the house. Also if you get to the beach and have forgotten something it isn't a big deal to walk back for it. The house and garden has enough space that you can find a corner on your own for a bit if you want. We love arriving and stretching our legs with a walk round the beautiful Pentire headland to the contemporary Lewinnick bar and restaurant. Then, claiming I haven't had time to shop, go the next day for breakfast in one of 3 cafes within walking distance of the house, each with different fabulous beach views. From April-September, evenings are spent with a glass of wine on the patio watching the sunset over the water and listening to the sea. Or, in winter sitting cosily round the wood burner (although the house is too well insulated to actually need it!) The only troublesome thing about coming here is that you don't want to leave.

Great House, Great Location, Great Holiday
The rather small and austere face presented to the road on first approach to Beachside View lends greatly to the almost Tardis-like wonder experienced upon entering the front door and seeing the beautiful house and gardens unveiled before you - the main open plan kitchen and entertaining areas are truly stunning!
On the kitchen, this was fully furnished and equipped and coped admirably with the demands of 2 very critical 'chefs' in our group who love to cook. I and the rest of the non-cooking holiday makers loved the 2 fridges and the wine cooler (complete with a complimentary bottle of bubbles) which we kept fully stocked as required!
All of the bedrooms and en-suites are really well executed in terms of design and quality of fittings and all of our party really enjoyed their accommodation.
The master bedroom and the garden bedroom and en-suites are truly beautiful rooms with fantastic views. Being able to open the double doors from the master suite out onto a sunny terrace and gardens in the morning was fabulous. Make sure you 'bags' one of these 2 when you get there - although if you are in one of the other 3 rooms you will still not be disappointed as they are still large and comfortable!
The gardens are multi-level and tier away down towards the bottom BBQ and terrace where the views across the Gannel and up towards Crantock beach are stunning. The turquoise river and the clear blue skies that we had during our break combined to create a truly extraordinary cobalt blue estuary when the tide was in - we must have taken dozens of photos as we couldn't believe that we were still in the UK it was that good!
We took 2 dogs with us in our group - 1 Red Fox Labrador and a Maltese / Shitzu cross - really a case of little and large. Being able to drop down from the end of the gardens onto the sandy estuary / beach when the tide was out was enjoyed by both dogs and owners alike . Dodging in and out of the rock pools and sand pools, crossing wooden bridges, wading through and fording the Gannel, catching the ferry to the beach gave both the dogs and people enough exercise as they could want.
The 'youngsters' in our group - being aged 19 to 24 - loved the ability to nip over to Fistral Beach which was literally 5 minutes away. They assured us that it was for the body-boarding and not the Seaspray cafe or the Fistral bar - although obviously this helped!
You can probably guess that we all enjoyed the holiday - a lovely house and a lovely location.
Fabulous house in a wonderful location
Wow is the word most used by our family on entering this fabulous house. It was everything we could have wanted for our family holiday. The house is beautifully furnished, immaculately clean and designed for maximum comfort. The owner has thought of everything to make the stay a pleasure. All of this combined with amazing views over the Gannel estuary make it the perfect holiday destination. We holidayed with our 2 sons, daughter-in-laws and 4 grandchildren aged between 4 and 13. There were things to do for everyone and we all had a wonderful time. Our thanks to the owners for everything.

Fantastic Property and Location
Ive stayed in lots of holidays rentals and this was probably the best. The house was amazing with lots of space, very well equipped and a superb location. A short walk through the garden and we were on the sands of the Gannel estuary. From the garden the views were wonderful. The first couple of days were wet but the house was very warm and the views from inside made up for the bad weather.
An initial problem with the heating was fixed very quickly with a response from the owners within minutes of texting them,
Great to have the dogs along as well. Nice outdoor shower for them and a very secure garden.
Two members of my party we over 80 and they managed fine with the house but couldn't manage the steps to the sand.
Will definitely be wanting to visit again.
2 Wochen im Paradies
Dieses Haus ist jeden Stern wert. Fantastische Lage, fantastische Umgebung, traumhafte Terrassen.
