3 bedroom house with stunning sea and Mevagissey harbour views.
About Elsa Mckenzie
This house belonged to Winnie, my mother in law, she had wonderful holidays here, visiting relatives, swimming from local beaches and she always welcomed family and friends. We have been holidaying in Mevagissey for a long time, we live in Suffolk at the most easterly point in the UK and we have travelled west to Mevagissey at least 3 times a year. Alastair is a civil engineer who visited the area often as a child, Elsa teaches part time. Our 4 grown up children continue to visit the house with their children and partners. Since the early days we have continued to update and improve Winnie's View into a lovely comfortable home from home for our visitors. Our latest project has been to refit and open up the kitchen area.
Elsa Mckenzie purchased this House in 1980
Why Elsa Mckenzie chose Mevagissey
Our children at all ages have always been very fond of Mevagissey and have many happy memories of their holidays there. Now they are nearly all grown up and some have children of their own and they still love to visit with us or with their friends. The south Cornish coast is just stunning, we are now endeavouring to walk the coast path (in chunks). The beaches are beautiful surrounded by amazing landscapes. Winnie's View can be used as a base for exploration, visits to many attractions, or as a comfortable place to return to after a long day at the beach. The house is comfortable, well equipped and practical with space for people, their kit and parking for 2 cars. We have laid out the bedrooms so that extended family can come too. It's a short walk down to the village for pubs, shops and a walk round the harbour. Fishing is still taking place in Mevagissey as you will see by the number of fishing boats in the harbour. Local fish is very fresh and can be bought from the kiosk on the inner harbour. The views from the house never cease to amaze, winter or summer.
What makes this House unique
The amazing view and the changing light on the sea is a tonic for our stress levels!

Perfect Holiday Home in Meva
We had a short break here during half-term. I have always loved Mevagissey but need to have the view over the harbour to get the most from any holiday here. Winnie's View has spectacular views from the living room and main bedroom that I will never tire of and is a short walk downhill to the village (a longer hike back!)
The house is a few steps from the coastal path so our two dogs had a great time exploring and we had a great family day walking the beautiful wooded lanes along the valley to Heligan.
The house is well equipped with the garage stocked with the kind of bits and pieces that you can't always bring along.
A great place to stay with a great host. Thank you.
Great place to stay in Mevagissey.
We loved staying at Winnie's View and will certainly pay a return visit.. It's a bright and airy house, very clean and well equipped, with stunning views over the harbour from the lounge, dining area and main bedroom. It's multi-level - bedrooms upstairs on two levels and a lounge below the dining-room/kitchen. There are steps down to the small garden. The walk down to the harbour looked intimidating at first for oldies - so steep - but we managed it in about 6-7 minutes. Getting back took a bit longer. The 1 in 3 section has a handrail to help! Mevagissey is a lovely little village with some nice shops, most open when we visited mid-October. There are some super pubs and seafood restaurants. We had gorgeous seafood at the Alvorada (Portuguese) and the Salamander. If a menu just says 'Catch of the Day' this usually means a choice of 4-5 different fish recipes. Depends what they catch. Home-made scones to die for at the 'Tea on the Quay'.
Thank you for your lovely review. I'm so pleased you enjoyed everything that Mevagissey has to offer and that you found the house to be a really pleasant experience. We do love the views! Best wishes Elsa
A lovely cosy house with amazing views
Amazing views. House had everything you would need. Excellent holiday
Great place to stay in Mevagissy
Winnie's View is just like a home from home. It has everything you need, including a very well equipped kitchen and everywhere was very clean. There are great views from the rooms at the back of the house of the harbour and the sea. There is also a small fenced garden at the rear of the property which was great for our small dog. Just opposite the front of the house is a public footpath which leads to a large green (ideal for exercising dogs) and to the Coastal Path. We found this to be the best route for walking down to the village. Lots of helpful benches to rest at for the walk back up. We are in late 60s and didn't find the walk too arduous. This is also a great place to stay as a base for exploring Cornwall. We liked it so much we have already booked a longer stay for next year.
Thank you for your lovely review! I am so pleased you had a good break, it's what it's all about after all.
Excellent property and really enjoyed our time there, very relaxing.
Very good property with lovely views of Mevagissey. Winnie's View is very well equipped. The garden is secure and we could let our dog out the back without any worries. There is parking for 2 cars but can be tight but not a problem as there are other places to park. Walking to the harbour will get you fit, we tried different routes up and down the hill. Elsa is very quick at replying if you have any requests or enquiries. Overall a very good enjoyable holiday and we will be back!
Thank you for your lovely review. We are pleased you had a good break.
A lovely village!
A perfect stay. House was well equipped and comfortable. I would definitely return!
Walk across the green and down steps to Polstreath Beach. Or hop in the car (15 - 20 mins) to Caerhays (Porthluney) or Gorran Haven, these have cafe/s and loos. Both accept dogs in high season. Gorran Haven is an attractive village with a store/bakery/post office and a beach cafe. Porthluney beach is opposite Caerhays Castle which has an amazing rhododendron and camilia collection ( open early on in the year). There are beautiful coastal areas to explore further afield.
