Relaxing Country Retreat
Lovely quiet, beautifully decorated cottage situated up a rugged, country lane. Exclusive use of the heated swimming pool and hot tub made this a wonderful place to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. I'll have fond memories of playing in the pool, taking our dogs for country walks, eating breakfast on the terrace, gazing at the stars whilst enjoying the soothing, massaging bubbles in the hot tub and appreciating the local wildlife. The owner (Mike) was on hand to make sure we knew how everything worked, with the added bonus of rounding up our two little escapees (dogs) who wanted to know what we were up to in the pool! The welcoming goodies of homemade cakes, chocolates, milk and wine were an unexpected and appreciated treat. A great holiday had by all and we'll be recommending it to everyone we know. :)
Easy to find with Lisa's directions. Accommodation is exactly as it is listed, very clean, comfortable and we were delighted to find homemade cakes, chocolates, milk and wine ready for us.
Lisa and Mike were really friendly and checked that we had everything we needed. Beautiful, quiet location.
Very welcoming with wine, cakes & chocolate. The whole ambiance was very relaxing . Beautiful setting. Nice places to eat out in nearby if you want to & plenty of equipment if you want to eat in.
Would love to stay again.
Idyllic Property - 100% exceeded my very high expectations!!
I am incredibly picky when I choose a holiday property, spending many late nights obsessively searching for the perfect place, inevitably it pays off, as it did with this wonderful gem in the depths of peaceful rural Somerset yet so close to all the amenities of beautiful Bath, the river Avon and many other sites of interest. The only problem was, we were loathe to stay away for long , as it was such bliss having exclusive use of the owner’s beautiful heated pool in a truly idyllic, setting, enjoying the very well maintained tennis court, not to mention the welcoming, cosy and extremely tastefully decorated cottage with every possible home comfort provided - lovely to leave the terrace doors open to enjoy eating al fresco, whilst enjoying total peace and seclusion with only a hot air balloon passing over the roof on a summer evening, somehow adding to the charm and ambience of this magical place. We were so lucky to have 4 full days of fabulous cloudless skies enabling us to spend many hours enjoying the pool, watching the sun setting beyond the stunning pool terrace before heading back to the wonderful hot tub - to be able to allow our beloved 16 year old dog to safely join us without fear of him wandering off was a huge bonus too - and he very much enjoyed sunbathing on the decking with us and exploring the wonderful walks nearby. The pubs, all only a few miles/walk away, are very special and The Crown has the most beautiful garden to sit out in. The pretty historic Church, just up the hill has stunning views (well worth a look). The whole village is beautiful and reminded me of the prettiest hamlet we stayed in last June in the Dordogne, all stunning honey toned properties bathed in sunlight with Roses rambling up the walls and beautiful gardens enhanced by that magical light that you find on a cloudless day just before sunset. We are used to total peace in rural Cornwall but this was even quieter!! The owners have put a great deal of loving care and attention to every detail. Mike is a real character, super busy buzzing around but very helpful if you needed anything and Lisa clearly is a total perfectionist who takes great pride in her beautiful cottage, keeping it absolutely spotless with only the best quality furnishings and linens and many thoughtful touches/flowers to greet you. The toughest part - leaving!! Checked out dates already on way home!! Thanks for a superb time - priceless!! Incredible value for money too
This was a lovely remote cottage surrounded by hills and countryside. The only noise to be heard were sheep in the fields. Swimming pool and hot tub were amazing enjoyed every minute.
The Stables is situated in the beautiful village of North Stoke (once nicknamed the 'Secret Village). Surrounded by open unspoilt countryside and spectacular views of both Bath and Bristol. Set beside a Roman Road and on the Cotswold Way it boasts many fantastic walks - so dogs are always welcome.
Bath is a designated world heritage site. With its impressive grandeur and beautifully preserved Roman Baths and hot springs. With the Royal Crescent, Pump Rooms, Pultney Bridge, The Circus and Assembley Rooms this really is a historians dream! With its connections to Jane Austen and its quaint alleyways filled with designer boutiques and award winning bars and restaurants it can also be a very romantic city. The Thermal Bath Spa is a fairly new addition to Bath. Here you can enjoy the hot spring waters and relax in the roof top pool overlooking this beautiful city. Many visitors also enjoy the organised Ghost Walks around the city which take place in the evening for added atmosphere.
