The spirit of aloha lives in our beautiful Kauaiian oceanview condominium and awaits your visit! Situated on the top floor, the view of the ocean is as delightful as the trade winds that greet you when you slide open the plantation shutters... our condominium is a corner unit providing you with maximum air flow, along with two ceiling fans. Our recent kitchen remodel added new cabinets and granite to give the unit a new feel.
We have decorated our condominium in 'island style' to stay in tune with the tropical views all around you. Just sit on the lanai (relax on the two chaise lounge chairs or sit at the table) and enjoy the swaying palms and vibrant blue hues of the ocean. Listen carefully, and you will hear several Hawaiian birds along with the gentle ocean waves in the distance from our unit. Our condo is located in Building #40, Unit #413. We love its private location (one side of our building is by a county park) and the high celings afforded by being on the top floor...and because we have a corner unit, we have more louvered windows, so the tradewinds keep us cool and breezy.
One of the delights of staying at Kiahuna Plantation is its grounds, which spans 35 acres brimming with plumeria trees, bougainvillea, orchids, bridges, and lawns that meet the sea, dotted with grills for barbecuing while watching the sunset. The beachfront lawn at Kiahuna nestles up to world-famous Poipu Beach - acclaimed for its warm crystal-clear water, swimming, snorkeling, surfing, and boogie-boarding; just a short five-minute walk from our condominium. It is just the perfect spot to do anything - or absolutely nothing! It is no wonder that The Travel Channel recently voted Poipu Beach as the best beach in America. Across the street you get complimentary access to the recently upgraded Poipu Beach Athletic Club with pool, gym, and tennis amenities.
Everything you need to prepare a meal or a picnic is in the kitchen. Or, try the Plantation Gardens Restaurant (onsite) or have a Mai Tai at the oceanfront Honu Bar at the nearby Marriott. Across the street, you will have several choices at the Poipu Village Shopping Center ranging from elegant seafood dishes to gourmet island burgers.
We fell in love with Kiahuna when we honeymooned there over 25 years ago, and fell in love with it all over again when we started visiting with our young sons. Today, they are young men and love all the water-sports as well as going into Koloa Town and Lihue (whether they need to buy a tee-shirt or see a movie, it is all there).
If you are planning on visiting Kauai, you will not find a more perfect place to stay than our tropical Hawaiian condominium!
Alan & Anne are happily married in San Diego. We have two boys, Rob and Ry, in their twenties. As a CPA and financial planner, Alan keeps busy with many great clients. Anne works as an administrator with a service company in San Diego. We love our kids & friends, we love life and we try to live it to the fullest each day.
Rob Clopine purchased this condo in 2004
We honeymooned at the Kiahuna Plantation in the late 1980s and completely fell in love with Poipu and Kiahuna. The grounds of the Plantation are filled with green lawns with beautiful trees and tropical flowers. There is a sweet scent of plumeria in the air. The ocean is a brilliant blue color with a water temperature of 74 to 80 depending on the time of the year. We love to swim, snorkle, surf and boogieboard - all of which are available at the Kiahuna beach. Days and nights are very comfortable in Poipu - we especially love to sit out on the lanai in the evening and look at the stars. Every time we go to Poipu and Kiahuna, we simply can't believe the beauty of what we are seeing.
Our unit number #413 was a great find because it's on the top floor with a nice ocean view. It's the best ocean view in our building. As a corner unit, we have side windows which are great for lighting and ventilation. As a top floor unit, we have nice cathedral ceilings. Adding to our privacy, to the east of our unit, there is an open park maintained by the County of Kauai. The walk to the beach is only four or five minutes. The pool and tennis courts are even closer. We enjoy several great resturants within walking distance including Keoki's Paradise, Plantation Gardens and Roys.
My wife and I have stayed at this condo many times. We just love it. Rob is very easy to deal with, nice young man. The grounds, of the plantation, are just beautiful. The south shore is very quiet. Poipu beach is perfect for swimming/snorkeling. It's an easy walk, through the plantation, to the beach. Kaui is our favorite island.
Some frustrations we had was that there was no dish soap when we arrived and limited cooking tools, a dated bathroom, and a very long walk to beach at the front of complex (might as well drive, but there's limited/no parking), but it was a very comfortable unit and a great spot for jumping off to sightsee or walk/drive to nearby restaurants. We would just drive to Poipu Beach next door and really enjoyed it. Definitely need a car in Kauai!
We so enjoyed our stay at Rob's condo. I actually preferred this site to buildings closer to the beach as it had an element of privacy and quiet that were essential to us. It's handsomely decorated and I enjoyed all the wonderful local art in every room. No need for air conditioning; just open the shutters to let in the lovely breeze from the trade winds. You get a nice view of the ocean from the lanai yet it's only less than a 5 minute walk to the beach through beautiful grounds. The owners provide lots of beach toys, snorkels, chairs, etc. I would go back in a minute. The owner's (Rob) were super responsive and friendly. It was a very quiet and lovely place.
We just returned from a five night stay at this unit, and were very happy with our decision to stay there. It's a great, great value. While the management company refers to this as a "garden view" unit, you have a very nice view of the ocean from the lanai. The furnishings are all in good shape, and the unit was very spacious for two people. The corner unit top floor location is very private. The resort itself is beautifully landscaped and maintained, and provides beach towels and chairs, which is an amenity that most condo resorts I've experienced in Hawaii don't provide. The resort location is awesome - there are almost no places to stay on Kauai that front on a swimmable beach, and this is one of them. The Marriott and Koa Kea hotel are right next door if having a beachside bar & grill is important. A few caveats - first, this unit is as far from the beach as any in the resort - that doesn't mean it's far, though, and not having to carry towels and chairs helps a lot. Second, there's no air conditioning. The consistent breeze and fans kept the unit cool, but if humidity bothers you this probably isn't the place for you.
This upper level corner unit is very private and next to what must be a bird sanctuary. The bird song was a fantastic mosaic of overlapping riffs and trills. You can watch the waves breaking from the lanai and it's a 5 minute stroll through the plantation grounds to a long stretch of beaches. Best snorkeling is near the spit at the state park beach-- spectacular fish and occasionally a sea turtle. Best boogie boarding is off the beach in front of the plantation, where you can pick up fresh towels and beach chairs.
It was a great home base. We also did several adventures all around the island. The drive to Na Pali was the longest, almost 2 hours-- but a great way to see the island. Most other adventures are well within an hour drive.
So lovely place that we have decided to book it again next year. Why we gave it five stars? It is a quiet and peaceful place with a marvelous view to the ocean. It is weel located, near a park where you can hear lot a birds songs. To get to the beach, it's only five minutes walk in a beautiful garden. It is easy to get in touch with the owner.
