The lake and boat ramp are less than 40 yards directly in front of the house. A user friendly floor plan uses the living area to separate the master from the other two bedrooms. The large master bedroom has a spacious ensuite bath with separate tub and shower. The bedroom is furnished with a king size bed, window seat, a 30" TV and great lake views. The 2nd bedroom also has lake views and a queen size bed. The 3rd bedroom has two twin beds with nicely wooded valley views. The living room furnishings include: a wood-burning stone fireplace, a large screen TV with Dish TV satellite service, a game table as well as a sleeper sofa for added sleeping capacity. There is a two level deck on the lakeside, perfect for sitting, sunning, and watching the river traffic and beautiful sunsets over the water. The deck has a large propane grill for grilling while you enjoy the lake views. South of the cottage there is a fire pit on the lake side perfect to gather around and cook hot dogs and roast marshmellows. The covered front porch is furnished with comfortable rockers and provides a nice valley view. There is also a carport for your car, truck or boat. You will not want to leave!

While WiFi is not provided cell service is excellent allowing for 4G hotspot capability via your phone if needed. If you have a boat the easy ramp access in front of the cottage will be a real plus as will the 4 marinas/resorts within a 5 mile radius by water. About Vince & Patricia Griffin

We moved from Texas in 2010 to retire on the lake to be able to see unmatched sunsets and be close to family in Paris, Tn. We look forward to sharing this lake living experience with you.

Vince & Patricia Griffin purchased this cottage in 2015

Why Vince & Patricia Griffin chose Dover

This property is perfectly situated such that it juts out into the lake enabling lake views on three sides of the property especially in the winter when the leaves are gone. We purchased it and completely renovated it so the inside could be enjoyed as much as the outside. This is a special lakeside setting situated close to the junction of the Tennessee River, the Big Sandy River, Standing Rock Creek, and Short Creek with a Wild Life Refuge just across the lake. The lakeside cottage is located on the widest section of Kentucky Lake.

What makes this cottage unique

The "lakeside cottage" has been decorated with a coastal theme bringing together the colors of driftwood, water and sunlight. The hill the cottage sits on provides great lake views and steady breezes from the west and serene valley views from the covered porch on the east.

Lakeside Cottage, 356 Eagle Shore Drive, Dover, Tennessee

  • 5 of 5

Vince & Pat were the perfect hosts. I was pleasantly surprised to walk in and everything was so neat & clean Their was even a loaf of homemade bread on the dining room table when we arrived. The cottage was perfectly arranged for the 4 of us, a split design with bedrooms & baths at each end for privacy. The view was amazing, watching the barges go up and down the river day & night. The cottage was off the beaten path, making it very secluded & peaceful. We saw deer, fox, wild turkeys, & even the squirrels were chattering away. Hope to visit again only earlier in the year since a lot of things in the area were closed for the season during the week. If I had one suggestion it would be to find the hornet's nest & destroy it! They were irritating! Thank you Vince & Pat!

Owner's Response: Sue, it was a pleasure hosting you and your friends at our lakeside cottage. Thank you for your kind comments. The September weather and sunsets are really some of the best and are a great time to be living next to the lake. Pat and I are so glad you enjoyed the river traffic, the sunsets and the wildlife. Renting the golf cart for the day was definitely the best way to explore our woodland community and we're happy you enjoyed the experience. The unexpected appearance of the hornets was a first for us. I will try to follow those pesky pests back to their home and eliminate this unwanted guest from buzzing around. We are looking forward to your next visit.

We had a great weekend. The cottage had all the amenities we wanted. We had a lot of fun using the paddle boar and kayak. The kitchen had everything we needed. The sunsets were beautiful from the deck.

excellent vacation

  • 5 of 5

This is an absolutely beautiful home. Pat and Vince have thought of everything.I have never stayed in a house that was this well appointed. It is very modern and clean. She made sure we had beach towels, nice beach chairs. There were plenty of bath towels and washcloths, and she even had board games/books. The deck was perfect to drink coffee on in the morning and hang out on at night. Vince and Pat were very accommodating and prompt with all our questions.

Perfect place to relax!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second summer to stay here, and we loved it just as much this time. The first time we were only able to stay for a 3 day weekend, but this time we extended our trip so we could enjoy it a little longer. Vince and Pat are so friendly and accommodating, and were very understanding and patient when we had to change our dates. They really have thought of everything that a homeowner could do to make their guests feel welcome, even greeting us with some home made bread and a personalized note! They were gracious enough to allow us to borrow their kayak and lifejacket so that several in our group could go on a long swim, with a kayak escort for safety. The view of the lake from the back deck is absolutely beautiful. We spent a lot of time sitting on the deck and just enjoying the sights and sounds of nature. We were lucky enough to see quite a bit of wildlife in the neighborhood on this trip...lots of deer, turkeys, osprey, geese, and hummingbirds. This is the perfect place to go if you want to just get away and relax!

Remote lakeside getaway

  • 4 of 5

My family very much enjoyed our time at the lakeside cottage, especially floating in the lake at sunset and sitting on the back deck looking at the water.

The pros: the home is very clean and thoughtfully decorated with many fun things to look at. It is well equipped for cooking etc (do bring your own knives for cooking and bread if you are at all picky). It is well laid out with two wings and an open floor plan kitchen/dining/living area in the middle. The back deck overlooking the lake is the best part of the whole place. The views of the water are peaceful and serene and we absolutely loved sitting there morning and evening.

Cons: There is absolutely no sound privacy, especially in the master bedroom. In addition, the double doors from the living area to the master bedroom are not fully opaque, so while you cannot see through them, light gets through. The net effect is that the person staying in the master bedroom cannot expect to go to sleep unless there is nobody still up in the living area. Good to know if you have people in your group with different sleep schedules.

We loved the remote location, but it is worth noting that you are approximately 30 minutes from anything. Also, the road to the lake is very steep so this might not be an ideal location if you have a person with mobility problems in your group.

I also advise bringing your own toilet paper. Despite the listing having a specific section that states the only things you need to bring (that does not include toilet paper), there was only one roll per bathroom. When we asked if there was more somewhere, the owner offered to bring us some which was great. But then when they delivered it, they made a point to mention more than once that people usually bring their own. Having stayed in many vacation rentals over the years, I guess I've been missing a point of etiquette. However I've also never had one not provide enough for us to get through our stay. I try to be an easy guest and read listing descriptions thoroughly to make sure I understand the rules and expectations, so it felt off to me to have that comment conflict with their detailed list of things to bring. Not a big deal, but maybe add it to your listing if you expect people to bring their own.

Overall we had a wonderful time and are glad we came. So impressed with the care that went into the renovations and decorating and that back deck cannot be beat.

Owner's Response: Mado, thank you for all your positive comments. We appreciate that you chose our lakeside cottage to spend quality time with your family and your extended family. It was fun to watch the teenage boys enjoy early morning fishing from our dock as well as floating and swimming in front of the cottage. We want every visit to our lakeside cottage to be a source of only "good" memories. To support this goal our preparations include: clean and fresh accommodations as well as trying to anticipate what guests will need initially. Usually (2) new rolls of paper in each bathroom and (2) rolls of paper towels in the kitchen are sufficient. We regret that this was not sufficient for you. We are constantly upgrading the lakeside cottage to make your next visit better than the last. We hope you will choose to return for another vacation at the lake.
