About Stacey Brown
We are Archie and Stacey Brown we have four children and eleven grandchildren. We live in a small town in West Texas. Archie grew up in the even smaller town of Grandfalls, Tx. and I grew up in Phoenix, Arizona. I moved to Kermit Texas when I was seventeen and a few years later we were the classic story of boy meets girl. We learned a lot about the differences of city life and small town living. We chose to raise our children in a small town. And what a blessing it has been!
Stacey Brown purchased this House in 2015
Why Stacey Brown chose Matagorda
When Archie and I started going to Matagorda we stayed in the local motels. We found ourselves going quite often so we invested in a fifth wheel and stayed in the marina for quite sometime. We became friends with many good people but the challenge of the fifth wheel was getting our children to come and experience the joy of fishing in Matagorda Bay. There just wasn't enough room for everyone. Archie and I have always talked about living in an historic home so when this one came available we plunged in. This home has far exceeded our imagination.
What makes this House unique
This home has so many unique benefits but the first one that comes to mind is the screened in porches. The upstairs porch offers a wonderful gulf breeze as well as a bit of live music on Saturday night. The music can be heard from Poco Playa's restaurant and Archie and I have been know to two step a bit. Although the music can be heard from the porch it is not heard in the house so it serves as a great spot to unwind. the porch off the dining is a peaceful place for morning coffee or a nice breakfast. For whatever reason you may use the porches, this one thing is for sure these porches are a gem to this house and you will find great joy in using them. The backyard offers a tree swing, fruit trees that yield the best grapefruits and tangerines I have ever eaten so if there is fruit on the tree when you are there please taste for yourself!

Great place to stay!
We enjoyed the home. It was well suited for our group and very comfortable.
We will definitely be back next year!
This was the second time our family stayed in this wonderful home and we didn't want to leave! The home is very inviting and comfortable, so we were all able to really relax. There were plenty of places for everyone to either congregate or just have some space. We particularly enjoyed the screened porches. Since the house is only a 5 minute drive to the beach we went there every day. The kids really enjoyed the snow cone stand that is just a short walk from the house. The adults enjoyed walking to the nearby shops.
We can't wait to go back again! We will definitely be back next year!
Knight family vacation
Best. Vacation. Ever.
The house was so perfect for my family...everyone had their own space and didn't feel cramped or on top of each other. I brought 4 bins of stuff I never opened b/c this house has EVERYTHING! In duplicates or more! There were more than plenty of towels for all of us, the only thing we didn't find in the kitchen was muffin tins (cake pan worked fine!)
Plenty of really good, comfortable beds and bedding (I'm fussy about my pillows--but loved the ones on my bed!) I really enjoyed the front porch watching the main street traffic with my grandbabies! They were safe, the fan kept us comfortable, and I'll keep memories of that rocking chair forever.
The boys did some fishing with a guide and got their quota of black drumfish. Also some fishing off the roadside on the Colorado River, caught a few there too. We loved the beach...though the sand was too deep to drive onto. Lots of good memories from there too! The pier was really pretty, I thought, at sundown. The water turned a beautiful sea foam green that was iridescent in the light...
Anyway, one of the kids is already planning a next time because this was such a success. Thanks Sandy, for your prompt replies to all my crazy questions!!! Browns Blessing truly blessed the Knight family.
Thank you so much for the delightful review! We so appreciate it and also appreciate how clean you left our home. We hope to see you back again soon and next time there will be a muffin pan😄
Many Blessings to you and yours,
Very nice place to stay,
We have everything we need.Very nice place close to the beach.
3rd stay at this place! We love it!
Matagorda is a small fishing town with big personality. There are ample opportunities for offshore fishing, bay fishing, bird watching and duck hunting. The beach is the only one in Texas that you can drive on and find a spot to throw a blanket and enjoy the water. Throughout the year there are many festivities going on such as fishing tournaments, shrimp fest, lighted parades at Christmas plus many more. A vacation in Matagorda can be best described with two words: FUN and RELAXING!
