We are three seniors, who spent 9 nights at this property, located in the small village of Carlux, a 20-minute drive from Sarlat-la-Canada. Its relatively remote location might not appeal to all, but we loved it. As advertised, the home adjoins the castle wall, in the very center of the hill-top village, next to the Mairie (townhall) and a short distance from the church. There is a bakery and a small grocery store a short walk down the hill. The home is very spacious, well maintained and comfortable. It is tastefully and very completely furnished, combining antique pieces with very comfortable chairs, sofas, and beds. There is a large kitchen with a beautiful fireplace, but also an American-sized refrigerator, dishwasher, and stove. The bathrooms are nice. The terrace allows for outside dining; there one can enjoy the jacuzzi while gazing upon the castle walls and the beautiful countryside. The owner and manager both provided exemplary customer service. Over the past several years, we have stayed at numerous VRBO/Homeaway properties in Europe and elsewhere. We agree that this is our favorite!
