Experience old Florida! Minutes to Indian Pass and St. Joseph Bay State Park, and less than half an hour to historic Apalachicola. Located in the heart of town, but still on a quiet residential street, our cottage is a welcome alternative to the condo scene of Mexico Beach. From our fully renovated 1920s cottage, less than a block from St. Joseph Bay, you have access to everything Port St. Joe and surrounding communities have to offer. Walk to the shops and restaurants on Reid Street, two blocks away, ride a bike on the city trails, paddle your kayak in the shallow, fish-filled waters at the end of the street, launch your boat from the public marina down the street, fish the surf or the mouth of the Intracoastal Waterway, swim and sunbathe on St. Joe Beach, or just kick back and relax.
Our spacious home has three bedrooms, a den, a sunroom/playroom, a screened porch with a fan and wicker chairs, a covered patio and ample off-street parking, including space for a boat. We offer you comfortable furniture and beds, wood floors, tall windows, a washer and dryer , and a utility room to store your gear. There is a king size bed in the master, and a queen and full bed in the second and third bedrooms. The sofa in the den pulls out, with a genuinely comfortable mattress, if you need extra space. The eat-in kitchen, while simple, is fully equipped for your convenience, and features a GE Profile gas stove with an electric convection oven. The den and bedroom both have 47-inch smart TV for viewing movies, and high speed internet is available throughout the house. Central air conditioning ensures your comfort on the hottest days. Bathroom are newly renovated in 2017, with a tub-shower combination in the main and a walk-in shower in the second bathroom. On the back patio you will find a table with seating for 6, and a small gas barbecue.
The home is located on a quiet residential street, despite its proximity to downtown and the Bay. This is a perfect vacation home for friends or families, but we ask that you respect our neighbors and pass us by if you are looking to throw loud night time parties.

About Linda Vance
Like many people, I always imagined Florida was nothing but condos and retirement communities. In 2010, I came to a training in the Florida Panhandle and discovered the rich natural and cultural heritage of the Forgotten Coast. My partner and I bought this house as a winter getaway, and have spent winters here since 2015, fishing, kayaking, and enjoying the friendly community. During the summer, we're back in Montana, where I work as a biologist in the Rocky Mountains.
Linda Vance purchased this Cottage in 2011
Why Linda Vance chose Port St. Joe
We picked this house because of its location, less than a block from the Bay, because of its traditional charm, and because of the laid-back neighborhood. Even in the height of summer, this is far from party central; the house is part of a residential neighborhood, where the cool Bay breezes make year-round living enjoyable. Everything about the house and the street invites relaxation.
What makes this Cottage unique
Walking distance to restaurants, stores, the Thirsty Goat bar (with live music on weekends), and less than 5 minutes to some exceptional fishing on the flats of St. Joseph Bay. The white sand beaches at Windmark, St. Joe Beach and Cape San Blas are 10 to 15 minutes by car, or take a chair down to the pocket beach at the end of 7th Street.

It was perfect for my family!
The home was adorable. Very clean. Plenty of room. Very convenient to everything we needed. Thank you very much.
Everything about our stay was perfect! The cottage had a fully functional kitchen equipped with all the tools you need to make any meal. The beds were super comfy! And the bathrooms were great as well! We would definitely stay again and recommend others to stay as well!
Thank you! You were world-class guests. We really appreciated you wrangling the air-conditoner leak, and being so good natured about it. And thanks for the comments on the bathrooms. I finished all the tiling in the utility room and both bathrooms the day before I left, and hired someone to do the final grouting and sealing. I haven't seen the completed product yet myself (I had to shower at the local gym the day I left!) , so the positive feedback is heartening. Also glad to hear the kitchen met your needs. There's a remodel on deck for this winter --new flooring, fridge, dishwasher, lighting--and a few smaller upgrades. Hope you'll be able to come back and see it in the future.
Beautiful area and we loved the house!
We loved our stay! The house was exactly as described, it was cozy, clean and there was plenty of space for everyone . Our teenagers loved being able to walk to local shops and restaurants. Their favorite place was the No Name Cafe. The sweetest ladies run it and honestly the coffee is better than Starbucks! The area is so laid back and relaxing , it was just what we needed! We had a great time and We definitely plan on visiting again!
Nice Beach Cottage
Cottage was very spacious and gracious. We had a great time. Close to everything there is to do in the area, which is mostly relaxing on the beach and eating! Had a great time.
Thanks so much. I'm very glad you found it relaxing. Port St. Joe is a little light on commercial activities --no amusement parks, mini-golf or casinos-- but it is a great place for outdoor fun and kicking back. I can't wait to return myself in October. I hope you managed to try the ribs from the Paul Gant truck!
Neat, clean and adequately supplied
Great cozy house, well kept, and well stocked with towels and kitchen cookware. Don't count on using the bikes, the chains are rusted and they need new tires. That was disappointing for us because we intentionally did not bring our bikes because 2 were advertised as available, but found other ways to occupy our time. Enjoyed the back patio and grill in the evenings and the screened front porch for coffee in the mornings. Windmark Beach was just as beautiful as always and two new restaurants in town were good, but nothing beats Peppers and Indian Pass.
Quiet and peaceful
Our stay at this cottage was great, this is an older house but very well laid out, all the beds we comfortable and the bedrooms were located perfectly for more than one family, and it worked out well, they took in the back porch and made an extra bathroom which was a big plus, I could tell that the owners put some thought into decorating this house, having lived in a old southern home like my wife and I did when we were growing up, you can appreciate what they done with the place. As for the location we could not ask for more, My wife and her sister loved this house they would go out on the large screened in porch and talk and enjoy coffee in the mornings, the bay is just short distance away you can see if from the house, we could walk to the stores and shops. I had to work from there and the internet worked perfectly, and the netflix was a hit with the grand kids. Finally we would like to thank the owners for the excellent communications you made this so easy and enjoyable, we hope to return again soon and pick up where we left off.
