Amazing location Nevis

Amazing location! The grounds are nothing short of amazing! The pool is excellent! The morning views on the balcony eating breakfast and enjoying coffee are going to be missed. House manager suggestion for a cook and driver were perfect for our group Mark @ Nevis Chefs and Hollywood are great! A few small issues that were resolved by the onsite team quickly.

Wonderful stay at The Retreat!

The Retreat is a wonderful place--lovely house, beautifully furnished, in excellent condition with a great pool, veranda and garden. Hosts were the best--very responsive and gave us great recommendations for activities and restaurants. Helped us arrange a great driver and chef. Appreciated the inclusion of transportation to the house from SKB and arranging our return trip to airport. We will definitely return.

Three Master Suites With Privacy

We enjoyed our stay at The Retreat! The house easily accommodated three adult couples with privacy for all. The house and property are kept very clean and the many different seating areas were perfect for six of us. The location is excellent with great views.

Wonderful Stay in Nevis

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our time on the island. This property is secluded and near many restaurants and beaches. Beautiful home, gardens and pool area. Spring break and 75th birthday celebration!

The were 7 of us. 6 adults and my 8 yr old granddaughter. Great location and Views. We had a much needed driver for the week to get around the island. we had great walks every morning. The host was extremely helpful prior to and during the week

Total relaxation!

Having a relative who stay there, he was spot on. House was amazing and fit all our needs along with young grandson. Our driver was so knowledgeable & fun!! All hosts were available to speak with when needed. Would definitely come back!!!!

A fabulous RETREAT from winter!

The RETREAT is a wonderful home in a superb location on an idyllic island. The property manager was great to book with, the on-island manager was very responsive and the owners even checked in to make sure that all was good.The 8 of us had a lot of fun! The house is comfortably furnished. There was plenty of room to spread out, gather and enjoy. The grounds are impeccably planted and maintained. We had a slight disappointment when we learned that the pool spa was not a heated hot tub, rather it was “heated” by the Caribbean sun.All in all- it was a marvelous vacation!

The Retreat is a rare property - combining luxury, service , quality and beauty. From the initial booking to our departure- our experience could not have been better. The villa affords stunning views, excellent amenities and thoughtful service. The villa has every luxury and convenience that you could possibly desire. A private on call driver and house manager assured that any and all activities proceeded seamlessly. I have been traveling to Nevis since 1990- and believe this to be the premier private property on the island. We will return next year! Our stay at the retreat and the genuine warmth of the residents of Nevis made for an extraordinary experience.

The Retreat in Nevis

Seven of us had the pleasure of staying at the Retreat in Nevis. We had the most wonderful experience. We frequently stay at VRBO’s and found the accommodations were top notch. The assistance that the folks we worked with gave us was unmatched. We loved “Hollywood” and his wife who helped us navigate and transport us through out the island. Steve was remarkably warm and welcoming while greeting us and introducing us to all the amazing amenities in the house. The pool was a dream. The house was beautiful, well laid out and incredibly relaxing. Gareth guided us through our adventure with sage advice on how best to enjoy our time on the island. With his recommendation with connected with Miles of Nevis Yatch Charter and had an incredible half day of sailing and snorkeling. I would highly recommend both Miles and his charter company. We would absolutely visit Nevis and stay at the Retreat again given the chance.

Luxury in paradise!

The property is quite frankly stunning. Finished to an incredibly high spec, with amazing AV and tech throughout. You'd struggle to find such a slick property anywhere in the world, let alone one on a tropical island! The property is set on a very quiet road and extremely private, so on your days spent by the pool you can expect total relaxation. The owner couldn't have been more helpful in getting us prepared for our trip and we felt completely cared for throughout with a great local experience manager who sorted everything we needed out locally from a private chef, snorkeling to dinner reservations. I especially loved being able to pre-order wine that was ready and waiting for us in the wine fridge when we arrived. A great selection available at great prices. Very nice touch. When can I book again?

Fantastic property and very responsive staff

Property even more picturesque than advertised. Truly special landscaping, with many exotic and beautiful plants. Great view of ocean, very comfortable, very spacious, clean, and modern and literally abutting four seasons golf course. Easy to access four seasons amenities but far roomier and newer accommodations (and a fraction of the price). Prop managers Gareth and Steve super responsive to coordinate transportation and a private chef (very much recommend the chef, Mark, for both the food and stories afterwards, along with is assistant Denise who is a world class jazz singer!). Can be an occasional hiccup as it’s a big house with a lot of systems to maintain, but resolution was rapid (minutes) and responsive. A great value even at this price and a lovely overall stay. Be sure to visit the great restaurants around nevis in the former sugar plantations. Drift, Montpelier, and Golden Rocks were all fantastic locations/views with even better food. Scuba diving in nearby St Kitts also recommended with several shipwrecks. In all, a big thumbs up.

Family Spring Break 2023

Home and amenities were amazing! Our family enjoyed our time at The Retreat. The location and view cannot be compared with any other property on the island. A true gem!!! This was our 4th Trip to Nevis and first time renting a home on Nevis. Our family is already planning our next vacation at the Retreat. The house and property are meticulously clean. Plenty of room throughout the home with multiple seating areas for relaxing or dinner on the patio overlooking the Caribbean. Location is less than 5 minute drive from the Four Seasons, multiple beaches and restaurants. The Retreat also offers beautiful landscapes gardens, large pool, spa and gazebo. Our family enjoyed the daily afternoon visit from the Vervet Monkeys on the island. A bonus was a workout room in the home. The Property Manager, Steve and our driver, Hollywood made the trip special. Steve would check in on us to make sure everything was perfect during our stay and Hollywood was available to drive us anywhere on the island within a moments notice. A nice touch was the owners of The Retreat reaching out to us at the beginning and during our stay to make sure we had everything we needed to make our trip special. Thanks again to all for making our family vacation memorable! We cannot wait for our next trip to Nevis and our stay at The Retreat.

A splendid second visit and we will be back for more!

March 2020 was my family's second visit to The Retreat, our first being two years earlier. There are so many INCREDIBLY positive elements to staying there. First, the owner, Gareth, is sincerely vested in ensuring his guests have a memorable stay. From suggestions on food and wine, to spa treatments and professionally cooked meals, to updates made to the home, to convenient and economical driver's service, he proactively offers advice and recommendations that are 100% for the benefit of his guests. The timing and quality of Gareth's communications are impeccable. Second, the quality, amenities and aesthetics of the home itself are hands-down the best we have experienced (we book through VRBO three to six times a year and have done so for 10 years). The location and ocean/sunset views are mesmerizing. The amenities and finishes in the home are first-rate. The pool is remarkable!!! The grounds are spectacular. The bedding comfortable. The home is spotless. I find myself saying while there, "There is not one thing I would change if I owned this place". And finally, the people of Nevis are so nice and friendly, with excellent restaurants and local artisans. They truly want to serve their tourists/guests and it shows in every interaction. The island has much to offer and guests are welcomed to explore when and where they want. We will DEFINITELY be returning to The Retreat. It is a truly magical place. You can book here and be GUARANTEED a vacation whose memories will last a lifetime.

Our stay was awesome. Gareth and Steve made everything frictionless, from our arrival to our departure. The house was/is a perfect property to fully relax and enjoy your stay....very open, yet all bedrooms afford privacy. The setting, landcape, pool, kitchen, etc were lovely....highly recommend.

Great Stay at State of the Art Home

Great location at the top of Jessup's adjacent to the upper part of 4 Seasons golf course. Fully air conditioned with modern kitchen and amenities. Large pool with adjacent jet pool. Highly recommend!

Exceptional Luxury Villa, Fabulous Vacation!

The Retreat is an amazing villa! Located a 5 minute drive from the Four Seasons and Pinneys Beach (and of course Sunshines’), the Retreat offers spectacular ocean and mountain views, luscious landscaped gardens, a huge luxurious pool and spa and gazebo, and a gorgeous outdoor patio and veranda to enjoy your morning coffee and drinks and dinner. The photos are gorgeous but the actual property is more spectacular. My family of 5 adults enjoyed the privacy of the 3 spacious bedrooms (2 en suite) on two levels and the open and airy layout of the common areas on both floors. There are multiple TVs, Cable, Netflix and other streaming services as well as a sophisticated music system accessible via Sonos. The gym in the villa was handy as well! The huge modern kitchen was equipped with the latest modern high end equipment and appliances and stocked with all the basics as well as a curated package of food basics. Gareth is an incredibly gracious owner; communication was fast and easy. He was truly vested in ensuring that my family had a great time! His property manager Steve was extraordinarily helpful in showing us around the property and setting up dinners (including a private in home chef and multiple dinners at island restaurants) and excursions for us and was super attentive and pro active. And of course their driver of choice, the island famous Hollywood, was an incredible guide for the island and its history, and provided outstanding transportation services. He made it easy to get around. Private transport from st Kitts airport to the water taxi to the Retreat were all arranged by Gareth and went very smoothly. The level of service was on par with the Four Seasons. A truly memorable experience! Thank you Gareth and Team!

The Retreat

Villa Helona Sun enjoys an elevated position and wonderful panoramic views of the surrounding hillside and the Ionian Sea. This 3 bedroom villa has stylish furnishings throughout, a large pool and a fabulous terrace overlooking the stunning scenery. The resort of St Thomas with its large selection of bars, tavernas and shops, is just a short drive away. What's more you'll have a choice of 2 sandy beaches just 5 minutes' drive away. Excellent WiFi and air conditioning/heating in all the bedrooms and lounge are included.The manager is exceptional as are the housekeeping you could not want for better

An Amazing Week at the Retreat

The Retreat was glorious! LOVED the layout, decor, cleanliness and amenities. The pool was to die for and we spent hours in the cabana enjoying coffee in the early hours and cocktails later in the day. Beds were comfortable and we had all the amenities one could ask for. We sincerely appreciate all that you did to navigate the changing landscape of Covid to make it happen. Our 24 hr Quarantine was easy as Sunday sported a F1 racing event that glued our kids to the TV and allowed my husband and I to decompress after the stress of getting out of the US and into Nevis with all the Covid testing insanity. Activities that stood out included the awesome sail with Miles and Brian that included a snorkeling experience near St. Kitts and the Nevis peak hike. The sail was awesome- something we would do again in a heartbeat. Our 20-something y.o. children also put in a plug for the tasty rum punch! The Nevis peak adventure was certainly one we will never forget. Two nights before the hike it rained leading to extremely wet, slippery and muddy conditions. Arriving at the trail head our guide grouped us with a very friendly, enjoyable young Scotsmen who was training for Kilimanjaro! Needless to say, my husband and I were a bit out of our league! Regardless, we survived the 5+ hr slog and happily checked this off our bucket list, but admittedly our 20-something’s said they would do it again. A few restaurants that stood out included an incredible lunch and exploration of grounds at Golden Rock, a fun experience and fabulous food at Bananas and a final dinner decked out for the holiday season (including the bartender special drink of the day) at Montpellier plantations. Wow -well worth the drives sharing the roads with the goats, donkeys and cows! You have done an incredible job creating a beautiful retreat. Only suggestion for improvement would be a list of beaches to visit or places to walk and a local listing of places to buy groceries, wine, and necessities to provide to guests as it was hard to get this on line. We are grateful for the experience we had at your Retreat! Thank you from our family!

Lorah It was great having you stay with us. Thank you for your lovely comments. Next time you’ll need to ensure you bring your most extreme trail shoes and cheapest t shirts for the peak hike! My fault entirely you didn’t get a copy of the guide I have for the beaches/ dining/ activities etc. I forgot to update and print it for the new season. Updated guide for 2022 already in hand! Thank you once again and we hope to see you return to Nevis in the not too distant future. Gareth

Stay at The Retreat

We have just returned from an extended stay at The Retreat in Nevis. Having traveled to Nevis for over 30 years, we have stayed at numerous properties but none compare to The Retreat. The staff, Sandra and Catherine worked diligently to keep the home sparkling clean. Steve, the property manager checked in frequently to address any needs we might have. Gareth, the property owner takes great pride in assuring that your stay is flawless. The home is very comfortable for a large group or family and includes many amenities found in a five star hotel. We hope to return in the near future! Kathy and Charlie February 2020

I live in Bath, UK and was the previous owner of The Retreat from 2007 to 2022 when I oversaw its remodelling into the beautiful property it is today and which the current owners have continued to invest in as their new home.

When I am not helping ensure that guests at The Retreat have the best possible experience of their time on Nevis, I can be found exercising or pursuing other vain attempts to hold back the years as well as travelling in search of new cultural and dining experiences.

I settled on creating a home on Nevis after many years of travelling to different Caribbean islands. The authentic culture and natural beauty of the island together with that extra 10 minute ‘hop’ from St Kitts makes it a very special place to escape the ‘bling’ or the crowds of other developed Caribbean tourist locations. We hope you can relate to this experience and what first attracted me and the current owners of The Retreat to this jewel in the Caribbean.
