Uniquely designed home with stunning panoramic view, the gite du Grand Colombier is situated in a prime location on the Grand Colombier with mountains and valley views. The Landscaped south facing garden leads you down to the pool and a shady garden area great for children; This house breaths holidays happiness !!!

On the grand Colombier (Tour de France), 9 miles from the lac du Bourget, an hour from Geneva and Lyon;
Our third gîte is ideally situated for people who appreciate nature, outside activities (walking, road cycling, VTT, water-sports, Fly fishing, horse riding...), and Wine tasting (There are about 10 others within a 5 mile radius).
From the gite, you will enjoy walking for miles on the scenic foot paths of the grand colombier (if you make it to the top, you will be rewarded by one of the most spectacular views in France). If you are a keen cyclist, you can take up the challenge ok the famous "Tour de France 4 headed monster" or just enjoy the Viarhôna which is great for families.

Ideal for families with children of all ages and pet friendly, the gite is equipped with trampoline, table tennis, American billard table, private south facing swimming pool (8X4 meters) garden and games.

The Gite du "Grand Colombier " is a Fantastic hide away in a beautiful undiscovered part of France.

Absolutely Wonderful

Beautiful home, amazing views, charming and helpful hosts! Their local recommendations were the best. Our family loves cycling & winemaking so this home perched on lower slopes of the Grand Colombier was perfect.

This gite was beautiful. The view was magnificent and the layout and house was extremely pleasing. The only thing that surpassed the magnificence of the property was the generosity and hospitality of the hosts Sarah and Claude.

Amazing villa !

The villa is absolutely amazing. Beautiful views of the Bugey, well located close to town, and also great features like the pool, trampoline, sauna and games room. Rooms are very confortable. We stayed for a cycling camp and we loved it ! We will definitely stay there again. Thank you !

Fun at lac du bourget

This area is stunning, very laid back with friendly people. The lake is so peaceful and just feeds the soul to be there. It’s our second year at one of Sarah and Claude’s properties so I think that speaks for itself x

Fabulous

What a lovely house! We stayed here for the seconden time and we enjoyed it very much again. The breathtaking view from the terrace, the swimming pool, the trampoline, the games, everything you can wish for for a great holiday is there. The house is very spacious and well equiped. We were impressed and felt so comfortable

We arrived very late, which was no problem for the landlords. From the first moment we felt very comfortable in the beautiful house. There was wine for us and juice for the children as a gift on the table and fresh flowers in the vases. The next morning, when we looked out the terrace with its incredible panoramic view, we were completely blown away. Everything was designed and made with love. We enjoyed playing table football and spending hours at the pool. The equipment is very good and everything is clean. The whole house invites you to stay. Everything can be reached within a few minutes by car. The owners are very nice and answered all our questions very quickly.

Fantastic unspoilt hideaway

From the moment that we arrived we were spoiled, personally welcomed by Claude & Sarah at the door. They had left wine and cheese for the adults and apple & pear juice and cakes for the children all from the local area, which were a lovely start to this fabulous stay. The whole Gite was fantastic, split over 3 levels, in this quite hideaway, we could not have asked for more and were spoilt, after travelling onwards on our French summer vacation, it was further clear how good our stay was. It’s such a lovely quite area of France to stay, with so much on the door step, from watching the sunset at the top of the Col Du Grand Colombier, swimming in the nearby lakes, miles of rolling roads for cycling, tree top adventures and not forgetting the wine tasting. The Gite had everything we needed for a family of 5, all the games available, to the pool and perfect accommodation. We loved the Gite and hospitality so much, we have booked again with Claude & Sarah at one of there other Gites for next year for a full two weeks. Thank you Sarah & Claude.

Das Haus hat all unsere Erwartungen erfüllt. Unserer Familie (2 Erwachsene, 3 Kinder) hat es an nichts gemangelt. Der Pool und der Billardtisch im Keller waren besondere Highlights. Die Kommunikation mit den Vermietern verlief reibungslos (auch auf Englisch). Die Umgebung bietet Einkaufsmöglichkeiten, Gastronomie und jede Menge lohnenswerte Ausflugsziele. Wir Danken Sarah und Claude für sehr entspannte Tage in ihrem Ferienhaus.

Heel fijne en mooie locatie

Het huis was heel erg mooi en groot. Wij waren met een groep van 6 volwassenen en hadden alle ruimte. Het terras met uitzicht is fenomenaal. Het zwembad was heerlijk en de tuin is één grote groene oase. We werden hartelijk ontvangen en rondgeleid. De omgeving is ook heel mooi.

Super séjour dans un cadre agréable

La maison est idéale pour les activités adultes et enfants (piscine avec profondeur variable, billard, baby-foot, sauna). Le four est un peu petit pour une cuisiner en grande quantité. Nous sommes venus en famille et avons passé de bons moments, notamment sur la terrassee. Le portail de la piscine ne pouvait pas se fermer à clé mais les enfants ont été disciplinés. Nous recommandons cette maison.

Très belle maison bien située

La maison est très belle avec un coup de cœur pour la grande terrasse !!! Idéalement situé avec un terrain de pétanque à 2min en voiture. Petit bémol pour le sauna qui ne marchait pas ce week end là, seulement 3 raquettes de ping pong (dommage une 4eme serait la bienvenue) et le manche du baby-foot cassé donc pas de possibilité de jouer... Quelques rafraîchissements à ce niveau et ce serait parfait ! Un grand merci à nos hôtes, nous avons passé un super séjour !

Sehr schöne Unterkunft in schöner Lage

Wir hatten eine wunderbare Woche im Haus von Sarah und Claude. Der Pool war gefüllt und wurde gereinigt, war im April aber eiskalt, was die Kinder nicht davon abgehalten hat, trotzdem reinzuspringen. Im Sommer ist er sicher ein Traum. Sarah hat uns bei der Ankunft empfangen und war sehr nett. Für 7 Personen + Hund war genügend Platz, Haus, Garten und Terrasse sind groß. Es gibt sogar eine kleine Sauna, Tischtennis, Billard, Dart und Tischfußball. Die Umgebung ist sehr schön! Insbesondere für Radfahrer, aber auch zum Wandern. Lyon ist einen Besuch wert, man erreicht es in etwas über einer Stunde. Vielen Dank an Sarah und Claude, dass wir in ihrem schönen Haus wohnen durften.

Tolle Woche in einem tollen Haus

Wir hatten mit Freunden und 2 Hunden eine prima Woche in diesem tollen Haus mit einer wunderschönen Terasse und einem schönen Pool, die wir ausgiebig genossen haben. Sarah ist eine sehr nette Gastgeberin und hat uns viele Tips für die Umgebung gegeben. Die Umgebung ist sehr schön und mit den Hunden optimal. Man kann direkt vom Haus aus spazieren gehen. Falls es uns nochmal in die Gegend zieht, würden wir das Haus auf jeden Fall wieder buchen. Liebe Grüße Michaela

prachtig schoon huis en omgeving. Mooi zwembad.

Wij waren er in mei 2 weken me onze jongens en 2 hondjes. Ontzettend mooie vakantie gehad. Alles klopte. Toevallig ook erg mooi weer gehad. Sarah (eigenares ) heeft ons ontvangen . Super aardig. In het huis was van alles te doen...tafelstennis biljard enz.... Heel veel gebruik gemaakt van het prachtige zwembad. Iedere dag weer genoten van het grote Balko/terras . s'morgens met een kop koffie en s'avonds met een glaasje wijn. wij komen weer terug... misschien al volgend jaar :)

Très bon séjour

Nous avons passé un très agréable séjour en famille pendant les vacances de la Toussaint. Bien chauffée, très propre, équipée d’un sauna et d’une salle de jeu, la maison est confortable et agréable à vivre. Une terrasse couverte équipée d’une grande table et d’une balancelle permet de profiter d’une jolie vue sur la vallée. La maison est bien située : le village le plus proche (Artémare, à 5 minutes en voiture) dispose de plusieurs commerces de bouche et d’un petit supermarché. Nous avons été gentiment accueillis et pu profiter des conseils avisés de la propriétaire sur les sites à visiter. En deux mots : très bien.

Een mooi huis in een prachtige omgeving.

Het terras is een grote surplus aan deze woning. Alles was prima. De streek was voor ons een grote en zeer aangename verrassing. Prachtig! We hebben genoten.

I am (Sarah) English and Claude French. We have four children, a dog, cats and two ponies. We arrived in the Bugey in 2004 and have been renovating the forge du Perou ever since!
After a very successful season with "the gite de la Forge"(https://www.ownersdirect.co.uk/gd/dash/661.6518378.3833690) we had the oportunitiy to buy the Old school house (we fell in love with the house and it's position https://www.ownersdirect.co.uk/accommodation/p6938841).

We feel this area is very special, we have travelled widely and we are always pleased to get back to the Bugey. We want to share this undiscovered beautiful part of France that the French and Swiss neighbours have been keeping for themselves. In 2018 we bought the Gite du Grand Colombier, a more contemporary house. Open plan with a ground floor ensuite bedroom and a stunning terrasse with unique view, we felt that we would enjoy a holiday in this house !!!
