Close to Highway 14 in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge, this quiet location is a perfect spot for outdoor enthusiasts. Head down to the river, drive to nearby eateries and shops in the area, or stay in and watch the train go right by the house.
To the right of the front door is an open living room, kitchen, and access to the dining room. Read a book snuggled up on the sofa and chairs, light the fireplace for warmth, or head into the full kitchen to whip up delicious meals using the major and small appliances included. After an easy cleanup, grab board games to play around the table for four before heading off to bed.
One bedroom containing a queen-size bed is set downstairs, and there is a second queen bed upstairs behind a half-wall in the loft area. For convenience, a full bathroom is set on each floor as well. With two beds, all four guests will have a comfortable place to rest each night.
WiFi, a flatscreen cable TV, and a washer and dryer are all included, ensuring everyone feels right at home. There's also a wood stove for warm, cozy evenings in.
Bring your kayaks or paddleboards, or rent some in town and float down the river. The White Salmon River has great rapids for a little white water rafting, and the Columbia River is a wonderful place to try out windsurfing and kiteboarding, plus the launch is only five miles from the cottage. Enjoy hiking, biking, and spend a day fishing at Draino Lake, just half a mile away. The garage has more than enough room for fishing gear, skis, and boats, so don't be afraid to come up during the wintertime for winter fishing or exploring Mount Hood!
A crisp clean and well-decorated space is just what you need to relax in after a day full of adventure, so book this Washington home now!

About Vacasa, WA - Columbia Gorge Office
Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.

Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.

Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!

Fantastic home in a convenient location
The setting was absolutely gorgeous even on cloudy days. There are many excellent recreational opportunities within a very reasonable drive. The home was well appointed and laid out in a manner that was conducive to interaction. The kitchen and grill enabled us to cook delicious, healthy meals compatible with our dietary needs.
While some find the trains to be loud, I found them to be a feature, not a bug. It was quite entertaining watching the engines' lights plunge through the fog at night. I've heard louder train noises when living miles from the tracks.
We stayed 2 nights and it was so beautiful and cozy, house is super clean and has everything you need! Definitely going to stay there more often!
Fantasic getaway for summer and winter
We had a great experience at this property - spending our Christmas vacation. We were lucky to get a fresh coating of snow on the day of Christmas and it made the scenic views from this property unbeatable. Conveniently located with easy access to the picturesque White Salmon town and Bridge of Gods. We are returning here for a summer trip !
Amazing, comfortable, with just one tiny issue-
I've stayed at a few different Vacasa rentals now, and they have all been very good. This house, however, was among the best. Everything in the house was in a perfect state of repair, it was gorgeous. We loved the views, and just getting to put up our feet and relax.
However, there was one tiny issue we had- The nearby train tracks and rail crossing. Two or three times every hour, day and night, trains would pass by. This made sleeping an unexpected challenge. The downstairs bedroom is much quieter, with far better insulation from sounds of passing trains. A "sleep therapy" machine is provided for upstairs sleepers, but playing soothing sounds to compete with the sound of passing trains wasn't really helpful for me.
Still, the rest of the trip was so enjoyable we wouldn't hesitate to go back. In fact, we already made reservations at this exact property again in just a few weeks.
We are always delighted to see repeat guests!
GOOD LUCK SLEEPING- TRAINS ALL DAY & NIGHT
The fact that the home is 100 yards from the railroad tracks AND it’s right by a crossing should be mentioned in the listing. Trains go by the home at a minimum of once every 30 minutes (they pass all night long too). Since there is a crossing right across from the house, the trains blow their horns every time they go by. The trains are ear shattering and we had 2 kids that barely got any sleep because of this.
We would have understood if it was clearly mentioned in the listing but we had no idea what we were in store for. It’s unacceptable to have such an annoyance present and not be alerted of it beforehand. We WOULD NOT recommend this house to anyone. It’s far from relaxing and peaceful when you get wake up calls every 20-30 mins during the night.
Also- there were no blinds or shades of any kind on the downstairs windows. It felt uncomfortable at night with the large amount of windows and no ability to draw the shades.
We call this home Conductor's Cottage because of the proximity to the train tracks. We do mention this in the description of the home, and it is mentioned in several reviews as well. We apologize if this came as a surprise. There are no other homes around the cottage, and there is a hedge in front of the downstairs window to help create privacy as well as blinds in the windows in the downstairs bedroom. Thank you!
Such A Well-Crafted Home!!!
We were very appreciative and impressed by the craftsmanship of this home ... inside and out. The layout was perfect for a most relaxing stay.
That said, however, not only is the home beside the railroad tracks, but a railroad crossing as well. Hence, the ear-splitting train whistle immediately in front of the house was pretty annoying, especially in the evening.
I'd stay there again, but my husband would not, because of the train.
Still, it's a great place and has a lovely view of the Gorge.
