Ask a questionAbout Katie Okada
My family and I have taken holidays in France every year for as long as I can remember. I love travelling and learning new languages. I studied French and Japanese at Leeds University and have spent time living in both countries. We have made many friends in France over the years and this has given me a real appreciation of French 'joie de vivre'. We love to find great places to eat and fresh ingredients to cook with. Over the years, we have discovered the best markets, cafes, restaurants and farm shops near our village house in Lonlay L'Abbaye and our ski chalet in La Foux d'Allos (Southern French Alps). Please feel free to ask for recommendations and don't forget to share your favourites with us and other guests!
Katie Okada purchased this house in 2012
Why Katie Okada chose Lonlay-l'Abbaye
Family friends owned the house before me and carried out the major part of the renovation works and the conversion from a shop to a home. We visited them there and fell in love with Normandy, the village and the house. When they decided to sell a few years later, I jumped at the chance to buy it and make it my own.
What makes this house unique
Lonlay l'Abbaye is unique in the region. It is surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside, has a magnificent Abbey at its heart and offers all the day amenities you require. To be able to walk to the bakers in the morning, restaurant for lunch and bar in the evening is unusual in Normandy rural villages. Add to that the friendly locals, many local beauty spots to visit and fabulous flower displays throughout the village in summer and you have the recipe for a perfect family holiday. Bonnes vacances!
