Enjoy unparalleled luxury in this amazing restored plantation home in historical sugar plantation area of West Kauai. Here you will find a quiet walk back into time, with the best weather on the island. Less than 15 inches of rain, and sunny almost everyday, you can walk for miles on uncrowded white sand beaches. Glorious sunsets are seen all year round from only this part of Kauai.

Located at the foot of the Waimea Canyon, there is easy access to the many natural sights that has been called the Grand Canyon of the Pacific. Spectacular waterfalls cascade over vermillion cliffs into the Waimea River below. Explore the many sounds and sights, that nature has to offer, on countless trails for hiking. In less than 20 minutes, you can be up to the top of the mountains, where many of the hikes begin.

This wonderful, and upscale house was originally built in a bygone era. It was restored to the highest level of quality workmanship and design. It features hardwood floors, detailed trim, custom tiled baths, and a gourmet kitchen. Everything is new, with an emphasis on maintaining the integrity of the plantation design. The furniture was all custom made to represent the era of plantation life in Hawaii. A large covered rear lanai provides a sanctuary of quiet and calm, with lush plantings to provide privacy, and a genuine tropical feel. Here, you can dine alfresco in the shade of the late afternoon and evening. A new HOT TUB has been added for enjoyment and renewal, after a day of hiking and sightseeing. You will never want to leave your island home!

Inside you will find custom amenities rarely found in this price range. The furniture was custom made for comfort and island design. Every piece was selected by one of the island's famous interior designers to create the ultimate ambiance. The kitchen is a full size chef's delight, with everything you need, and could want, to create the perfect meal at home.

The bathrooms are fully tiled with walk in showers and pedestal sinks. The bedrooms feature comfortable beds with the highest quality linens. Thick thirsty towels await you after your shower.

There is cable TV, and high speed wireless internet, should you need to stay in touch with home or work. There is even a separate office/den, with a generous desk and work area.

The West Side of Kauai has the sunniest and warmest weather year round, and is characterized by it's unspoiled and uncrowded beaches. I'll stay on the quiet side in this house anytime!

This was an amazing house. It had everything that we needed. Attention to detail and quality craftsmanship made this home a must-see and a must stay! Our rental agent Scott was very receptive to anything that we needed and answered our questions promptly. The hot tub at night and in the morning was amazing. We loved being out on the Lanai for morning breakfast listening to the sounds of nature and the wind in the palm trees. A quick stroll to the beach and you're in the white sand. We will definitely come back to this house. We enjoyed being on the quiet side of the island.

Maizi, Kate and Mikey at Hale Lehua

My sister, brother-in-law and I spent a week in Kauai, staying in Kekaha at Hale Lehua. Michael had been to Kauai before and picked the spot because it was away from the primary tourist destinations. Kekaha is a lovely town where you can meet your neighbors and learn about the community and the island. Hale Lehua is located just down the street from the school where you can hear the children playing in the school yard. (We were there during the last week of school) It is one block from the ocean where I walked many mornings and watched the sun set many evenings. Not too far west is a guarded beach for swimming or picnicking under a gazebo. It was never crowded, although we did not go on the WE. The 3 of us travel often together and try to use VRBO. We like feeling at home during vacation and we certainly did at Hale Lehua. The house was immaculate and there was nothing we looked for that we did not find. The kitchen was that well stocked. We ate in almost every night, taking full advantage of the back patio and grill. The beds and linens were 4* hotel quality along with the showers and bathrooms. With 2 BRs, 2 full baths LV and eat in kitchen, it was just the right size for the 3 of us. We were out all day exploring Kauai and enjoyed coming home to our comfy house. Kauai is so tiny we got everywhere in an hour or less, including access to all the supplies, gear and amenities we needed. After a day hiking, golfing, swimming or just sightseeing, we enjoyed drinks on the front porch and then dinner on the very private back patio. Enclosed as it is with palms, the only company were the ubiquitous Kauai chickens. The house has a washer/dryer, beach supplies (towels, chairs, umbrella, picnic cooler) and outdoor shower and hot tub. Also, there were lots of groceries in the fridge and pantry. A first stop at the house before stocking up saved us time and money. Not to mention the welcoming treats left for us by Scott. It was a wonderful vacation made only better by our home away from home, Hale Lehua.

Perfect West Side Gem!

We have visited Kauai many times and wanted to stay up on the west side this time around. This cottage is just wonderful. We traveled with another couple --each one having a comfy King bedroom and bathroom. This beautiful, renovated plantation cottage has all the charm of the era but is very modern in its amenities. The back yard is private and inviting, the beautiful deck wood was like nothing we'd ever seen. We used the brand new spa daily. Its a quick walk to the beach for amazing sunset views. Great location for west side adventures - a short drive to Waimea Canyon; If you want to see the Napali coast via boat - this is where they launch; Best beach ever - Polihale. Scott was a gracious host and answered all questions quickly. We will definitely return.

Perfect Hideaway

Hale Lehue is a delightful refuge. Immaculate. Fully appointed. Modern appliances. Quiet. Tastefully decorated. Comfortable bed. The back yard is ringed with palm trees that give the yard and lanai almost complete privacy. The hot tub is a real treat after a day hiking.

If we were going to design a house for us to use in Kauai, we'd probably copy Hale Lehue.

Whether you want to stay at Hale Lehue will likely depend on whether you need night life or the amenities of a resort. If you do, Hale Lehue isn't for you. If you want a haven away from night life and resort crowds, then Hale Lehue is for you. You are in a real neighborhood--not a tourist center--with all the pros and cons that come with that kind of location.

Kekaha is a very small town in the dry far southwest of the island. The town has a miles-long beach for strolling that you can reach in just a few minutes' walk--but not much else. The town is a good jump-off point for visiting Waimea Canyon and is only a couple of miles from Waimea, which has a few restaurants and small markets. We recommend stocking up on supplies at supermarkets in Lihue before traveling to Kekaha; the markets in the Kekaha area are not all that well stocked.

Beautifully restored and appointed home in a real "Island Town" close to stunning attractions

Location on the less-commercial West side of Kauai is ideal for exploring Waimea Canyon and endless sand beaches culminating in the majestic Pali Hale park. A 4WD vehicle is recommended to really make the most of this area, though there's plenty to see right off the pavement. Kekaha Town has a very local/traditional Hawaiian feel, and Hale Lehua is a beautifully-appointed, fully air condidtioned home, ideal for accessing local areas without enduring the long drive from the North Shore. Scott, the property manager, was very responsive, and extremely helpful (went well beyond the call of duty to help coordinate our stay on Kauai and recommend activities in Hawaii - even for our first couple days on the big island). In summary, I don't think you could do any better for a West Side base-of-opeations close to the sand and close to the canyon. Do be sure to venture to other parts of the island, though; Kauai is an amazingly diverse place, and just a few miles in any given direction can feel like you've transitioned to a whole different world.

quiet and perfect!!

My wife and I stayed in the Hale Lehua, after being in the north part of the island which is crazy busy and tons of traffic. It was so nice to be in the Kekaha area, for many reason, one being it is quiet and no traffic!!

This house is so close to Waimea canyon hiking, that you can sleep in, have coffee on the front porch and still beat the crowds up to the trail heads(next time I will rent a road bike and bike from the house!!) There are several beaches for surfing, SUP, swimming and snorkling, in either walking distance or a short drive from the house. We caught every sunset from the beach one block away from the house! I am so glad we did not go for beach front house because in Kekaha beach front means highway then beach!! Being a block off was really ideal. The house has everything and was so comfortable, we just wanted to "be there". When we go back to Kauai we plan to stay there again! Best of all if you want sunshine this area is so much more compared to the North side. Get There before the chain hotels and crowds take over!!

Located on the sunny westside of Kauai, with miles of open white sand beaches. At the base of Waimea Canyon, offering many hiking opportunities of all skill levels. Close to Polihale State Park, with it dune backed spectacular beach. Numerous surf breaks close by. Sightseeing boat trips, and adventure opportunities, at Port Allen, which is 20 minutes away. Ideal for the person looking to get away from the resort scene.
