Elias Garcia II, apartment in the city center

This is a historical apartment in the city of Funchal, projected by the well known portuguese architect Rául Chorão Ramalho. The apartment fits in the center, overlooking the Madeiran houses to the sea and the Cathedral of Funchal - which is located just five minutes walk.
Designed in the 70s, the apartment has been completely refurbished and offers a warm, modern and contemporary decor.
Daylighting is watchword in this apartment. Both the two bedrooms, both with double beds, like the living room and kitchen have large windows that let in the sunlight throughout the space.
The windows and balcony, open to different landscapes: mountain, sea, typical roofs of the city or the Cathedral of Funchal. Here, feel the pulse of the city of Funchal in all its forms.
The materials chosen for the renovation of the apartment are modern, sturdy and stylish, offering all the comforts for a relaxing and memorable vacation.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD OVERVIEW
We are right in the city center, which is to say that there are points of interest for all sides. The Cathedral of Funchal is opposite, by the sea, and the restored old part of the city, to the left side. Following the right, the path ends at the College Largo, where the historic building of the Municipality of Funchal is the Sacred Art Museum or the College Church. But these are, of course, just some of the reference points, because at the heart of the city curiosities appear in every corner.
In the city center there are restaurants for every taste, terraces, museums, gardens and of course the city bay and large cruise ships as a backdrop.

By car, it only takes 15 minutes to get to the beach area.

GETTING AROUND
To get from/to airport, there is a aerobus stop within 3 minutes walking distance from the house or you can ask us to arrange a taxi transfer with our local and trustworthy partners. Cheaper than the airport taxis!

OTHER OBSERVATIONS
- According to Portuguese law, all guests are required to present a valid ID. (passport or identity card).
- Check-in hour must be scheduled in advance. If it is not scheduled within a maximum of 48 hours before, guests will be subject to the availability of our team.
- All necessary linens and towels are provided. A cot, high chair and baby's tub can be arranged if necessary. We have a first aid kit, fire extinguishers and an anti-fire blanket on all properties.

ATTENTION
Please be advised that a Tourist Fee will be charged to all persons staying overnight in the municipality of Funchal. Thus, all customers staying in tourist resorts and/or accommodation establishments, aged 13 or over, will be charged €2.00 per person/night, up to a maximum of 7 nights and a maximum of €14.00 per person/stay. When you arrive, you will receive a link to pay this municipal tax.

Great spot for a few nights

Great stay for what we were doing in Funchal. Beds are on the firmer side and could use some better pillows otherwise excellent value

Xmas getaway

Madeira island is an amazing paradise island! We loved our stay, accommodations and location. Would suggest a little more cleaning in the upkeep of the apartment but overall stay, amazing!

Great property and location

We stayed for over a month and really enjoyed our time here. Highlights included the view of the hills and ocean, the short walk to markets, and lots of cafes and restaurants nearby. It was a perfect location for viewing the New Years Eve fireworks as well. The Wi-Fi was very speedy, with download speeds over 300 Mbps. Just be aware that Funchal is very hilly, and you will definitely be walking uphill every time you return to the apartment. We would definitely recommend this apartment.

We were delayed for 3 days and the property was flexible in meeting us at midnight For checkin.

The apartment location and layout is wonderful. We found the windows very noisy when winds were blowing (even when closed) at night. Made sleeping difficult. Our stay was abbreviated so we decided not to stock the kitchen so it was very nice to be near restaurants.

*Good communication with the apartment manager if you need anything or any recommendations. *Takes only a few minutes to walk to the center of town. *Safe, quiet. Nice neighbors. *Market and Bakery next door. *Very clean and comfortable for the price point. *Would have liked a ceiling fan or two, but there were constant breezes once you opened the shutters. *In spite of the open shutters, I saw very few mosquitoes (I saw two during my entire stay). *Mid-week housekeeping service was unexpected and a nice plus! **Would definitely stay here again. Very much recommended!!.

Good vacation stay

We had a very good stay here and liked the room, the cleanliness, the weekly maid service, the location (within 10 minutes walk to downtown and amenities like restaurants, tours, groceries, etc.), and the water and hillside views (2nd story unit). Note that it is an uphill climb for two blocks to get to the unit. The furniture is mostly IKEA, so not that comfortable. The appliances were good, and dishwasher and washing machine soap was provided. We looked down on a medical clinic, an office building, and a secondary school, so it's an active neighborhood during the day (street noise can be loud at times), but is quiet through the night. I give it a Good rating, not Excellent, but it could be if the furniture was better. Would we stay here again? I wouldn't rule it out, but I would also look around first to see what else is available.

Ótima estadia

Fomos muito bem recebidos pelo Sr Décio, que nos fez o check-in amavelmente, muito antes da hora prevista. Deu-nos todas as indicações necessárias, parques de estacionamento, supermercados etc A casa estava bem limpa e as fotos descrevem-na bem. A sala tem vista fantástica para vários lados do Funchal- montanha, mar, teleférico, etc. Apartamento equipado q,b. para uma semana de férias em família. Sugiro que incluam pequena reserva de detergente para se poder usar a máquina da roupa. Muito gratos por tudo. Foi uma semana muito agradável. Recomendamos o apartamento.☺️

après les remarques d'améliorations Points ++ L' appartement est lumineux et spacieux, la vue est dégagée. Sa situation géographique est idéale, nous avons pu nous rendre à pieds au mercado ou au centre de la vieille ville. Si besoin de se déplacer en bus, dans la rue Elias il y a un arrêt de bus

Unterkunft gut gelegen, fussläufig zum Zentrum Funchal. Unterkunft selbst geräumig, Küche iin gutem Zustand, Betten sehr gut. Der Rest bedarf z.T. eines Refreshing (Abstoßsingen), der klitzekleine Balkon ist ein absolutes Ärgernis ( vertrocknete Pflanzen, alles voller Taubendreck,) ekelhaft

Wohnung in Ordnung

Wohnung war nicht wirklich sauber. Wir missten sogar Mittel zum säubern aller Abläufe in den Bädern kaufen und es hat trotzdem noch immer schrecklich gerochen. Zudem war es am Morgen enorm Lauft von der Strasse und der angrenzenden Liegenschaft. Der Kontakt zu AIA war angenehm und gut.

We stayed at Elias Garcia II apartments for almost two weeks. The property is clean, well-maintained and placed conveniently a few minutes walk from downtown Funchal. The kitchen has all the necessary appliances (well-functioning), and there is a good Internet connection. Also, the staff was helpful and responsive, and we experienced no difficulties during our stay or with the check-in (we required assistance due to a change in our flight itinerary), check-out or transfer from and to the airport. To conclude, it was a reasonably priced stay for a family of four!

Very nice apartment in the middle of Funchal. Everything was so close by. The parking pass didn't work but we didn't mind because parking garages in Funchal are really cheap anyway. The apartment was really clean and nicely decorated. The host was also really nice to us and we could always contact her for any question.

Lovely place to stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our week in this apartment. It has lovely views in two directions, one in the direction of the sea, where you can view whichcruise ships are in the harbour and the other uphill to the west of the mountain on which Funchal is situated. The combined living room and kitchen is spacious and is furnished with colourful Ikea furniture. The bathroom has a shower which provides instant hot water. The two bedrooms benefit of waking up to from the early morning sun. The kitchen is well equipped with kitchen implements, a dishwaher and washing machine. The secure parking was opposite the apartment building. It was a challenge to successfully maneuvour into the reserved parking space. The location of the apartment is perfect for access to Central Funchal (a 10 minute walk) and there are very good bakeries and cafes in the immediate area.

Great apartment!!!

Liked everything!!! Very spacious and comfortable apartments with a beautiful view from the window. very clean. The apartments have all the necessities of life. not far from the seafront promenade, restaurants, supermarkets (5-7 minutes walk). The house has a cafeteria with fresh bread and pastries. wi fi worked well. Thank you Carolina for its attention and concern to us. Great pleasure to once again return.
