Quiet and relaxing getaway

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I enjoyed our peaceful and relaxing getaway. It was exactly as we hoped for and expected. We loved our walk in the woods and stroll past friendly goats and chickens.

The atmosphere was quiet and made a great place to unplug. However, there were plenty of options in the home to engage with video games, TV, and even board games.

We appreciated the clean accommodations and fully equipped kitchen to cook the meals we brought. Jen was gracious, kind and willing to make sure our stay was pleasant.

Great Getaway

  • 5 of 5

For my birthday my wife planned a guys weekend for me and my three brothers. Even though it rained a lot of the time we were there, it was nice to get away from everything and there was still plenty to do. We threw bags on the screened in porch, played video and board games, and walked around the property as the weather permitted. The owner was very nice when she dropped off some of the eggs from the coop and responsive when we needed something, and had even setup an inflatable bed for us since we were coming in a little late on Thursday night. It was a great weekend and a great place to just kick back and relax.

Property was roomy, clean, and was on a beautiful wooded property. Needs improved beds!

  • 3 of 5

For the most part, we loved this place. We stayed for three nights. The home was very clean, the screened porch has an amazing view of the woods, and there are chickens, roosters and goats to visit. There is one bedroom that has an old-time arcade game loaded with all the oldies like Galaga and Pac-Man. We had a blast with that. There are also a couple of video game systems hooked up to the TVs. However, the sleeping arrangements left a lot to be desired. The arcade room had a great bed that was comfortable, but the other bedroom (master) had a bed that squeaked very loudly every time we moved even a little. Also, the mattress on this bed was SO soft and uncomfortable that my husband and I both got sore backs and slept very poorly. The listing for the house also lists a sofa bed that we had counted on using for another adult traveling with us. The owner let us know once we were there that the sofa was not a comfortable option, but there were two air mattresses in the closet. Turned out that one of them had no cord so it couldn't be inflated, and the other inflated okay, but then had a slow leak, so it deflated during the night. The adult trying to use this option had a very bad night the first night. When I contacted the owner, she was very apologetic and quickly brought over a camping mattress for the rest of the trip. It wasn't great, but better than the other options. The sofa is so old that even sitting on it is uncomfortable--you sink into it and can feel the bars of the sleeper sofa inside. We ended up sitting around the coffee table on the floor because it was more comfortable. The owner, Jen, was extremely responsive and did everything she could to help, but three out of the four people on the trip did not get even one good night's sleep. This was a real bummer, and definitely marred our visit. The other thing that was a problem for us, but may not be for all, is that all of the bedding and towels had been washed using fabric softener, which one family member is very sensitive to. It would probably be better if these products were not used at aIl just in case.

If this house had a new sleeper sofa or futon and a new squeak-free platform and mattress in the master bedroom, it would be a perfect spot. The kitchen is huge, well-equipped and easy to work in. The bathroom is very clean, with plenty of hot water available. The views are beautiful, and there are lots of trails through the surrounding woods, under huge pines. Gorgeous!

Perfect place for a rainy weekend

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and I recently spent a relaxing weekend here. The apartment was warm and cozy but with all the modern conveniences you could ask for. The beds were amazing, both my daughter and I slept so well. She loved the arcade bedroom, and I had fun reliving my youth playing Pacman! We also loved meeting the animals, and enjoying fresh eggs every morning.

Jen was so welcoming and friendly, and was in regular communication with us throughout the weekend.

We would love to visit again.

They have thought of everything!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 adults plus our dog really enjoyed our weekend stay. Very spacious and clean! The property has lots to offer ranging from trails to walk, goats and chickens, games galore for family entertainment and hosts that were great at ensuring we had everything we needed. Montello is close by with a few good places to eat and a grocery store to stock up on food to prepare in the well equipped kitchen. Would not hesitate to recommend!

Good value

  • 4 of 5

We used this rental as a home base for skiing at Granite Peak and Cascade. Given that it was relatively inexpensive, it was worth it. The unit is very spacious as others have stated and my 13 yo son had fun using the Arcade machine and the property is beautiful and peaceful as others have also stated. The reason I gave it 4 stars rather than 5 stars is that the pull-out bed was very uncomfortable so my son and I ended up sharing the Master bed rather than each of the 3 of us (my daughter was also with us) getting our own bed. Again, though, for the money it is a good deal as it cost about the same as an inexpensive hotel room in which I would have had to share a bed with my son too and my daughter would not have any privacy nor would we have been able to cook (important for us as my daughter is Vegan and it is tough finding Vegan in Wisconsin outside of Milwaukee and Madison).

Owner's Response: Thank you Richard for the rating and review. I am sorry your son had an uncomfortable time, I will look into something that can be possibly put over it to make it more comfy. There was a air mattress up there as well he could have used. I wish you would have said something in the many emails I sent to you to ask if everything was OK. But I thank you for the feedback I will take it and work on it. Other than that I am glad you had a great time, I hope you all decide to come back again sometime.
