Star Mesa is right in the heart of Colorado! The river, mountains and natural beauty are all right here. The property is private and quiet, yet just a beautiful twenty minute drive to amazing, friendly Salida.
The delicious water from the well, the wild turkeys, deer and birds, the changing light on the mountains, all of the seasons, the peace, the beauty... and the delightful cozy home!
We had a wonderful time relaxing here at Star Mesa. It was great to get out of the city and star gaze a little while sitting by the camp fire each night. Our two golden retrievers seemed to have the time of their lives sprinting around the yard and taking dips in the pond. Reading on the back porch during a thunder storm was a joy. We only strayed from the cabin a few times, including trips to view fall colors.. This property was easy to settle in to - fresh & clean bedding, every kitchen contraption one could desire, plenty of firewood and detailed instructions. Thank you!
This is a comfortable cozy home. It's well equipped. Loved that it is dog friendly with a fenced yard around the house and lots of room to walk and enjoy the gorgeous surroundings. It does have (as described) Peaks, Pond and Privacy. Truly a five star experience - except that the house is in Howard, Colorado (not Salida). On warm summer days and nights this would not make a difference. In the winter, the 20 minutes to Salida on icy roads meant that we stayed in every evening. And enjoyed it. But - it's not in Salida.
We are a family of five with young children and we had a wonderful time. The views were breathtaking and the cabin was in great condition. We enjoyed taking walks, sitting on the patio, mountain biking on the nearby gravel roads; and the highlight for my kids was canoeing in your own private pond. Wonderful stay!!
My wifa and I stayed at Star Ranch in early August and we were delighted with our visit! The Coyotes sang us to sleep and the deer walking on the front porch woke us each morning. Salida, with the largest historic district of any Colorado town, is just 20 minutes away and the Arkansas River at the bottom of the hill was very accesable. You have to try the coffee at 'Bongo Billy's" with a deck right on the river. We sat and watch the Kayakers play in the riffs right in town while enjoying a good Espresso. We spent one entire day on the deck at Star Ranch waching a storm move across the mountains and reading. How relaxing.
Just Lovely!! The house was a short drive up into the mountains from Hwy 50 with great views and privacy. It was very quiet at night and the birds woke us up every monring. The house has every thing you need for a weeks stay. Our kids played in the little stream daily and the dogs loved the fenced yard. The pond was another bonus for short canoe floats. We were close enough to enjoy whitewater rafting on the Numbers and Big Horn sheep Canyon with our 10 year old and a day trip tp Pike's Peak. We had sucha great time we did not want to leave and considered the cabin "home". It was a great experience staying at Star Mesa.
Thanks for the opportunity to stay at your cabin. It was perfect - having a place that allows dogs is a huge bonus. The cabin is great, nice views of the Sangre de Cristos and the Arkansas valley. A great change of pace from Denver - very relaxing. Will plan on coming back later this summer.
The solitude and the gorgeous views of the valley are two of the major attractions for visitors to this wonderful property in the shadow of the Twin Sisters peaks. Although you're not more than 20 minutes away from the small downtown of Salida, you feel like you're in another world. Comfortable accommodations (including satellite TV and high-speed internet service), a nice warm wood stove and the abundant wildlife that frequents the area, made Star Mesa the perfect week long getaway for me.
