In the words of a recent guest: "We absolutely loved Stradbroke - our first visit and thought your beach shack was great, especially the deck which made it very private. It was a perfect place to stay. We would certainly ask for No 18 if we were to return".

Great studio cabin with mezzanine floor. Close to bowls club and to Point Lookout generally. Pool was nice and warm for this time of year. Easy access to everything!!!
I was a bit dubious at first, as I am 'old school' and not adept at booking through third parties. But I got the code in good time, and all instructions were clear and covered everything. It went smoothly. So this is no 'shack'. I would say it's a tiny home with all mod cons. As a solo traveller, I loved that it is set amongst other accommodation and near a cafe. I felt the happy holiday vibe. But at the same time, I had a wild bush outlook and privacy from the back deck. It's near a lovely pool and is within walking distance of seriously amazing beaches. Swimming at Cylinder Beach is addictive. I'll be back often.
Great stay and location. Cafe and pool onsite very handy. Short walk to beach. Overall tidy property. Only small issue was checking in. I was not sent the key lock box code prior to check in and was only able to access through the cleaner who was luckily still onsite.
Well appointed cabin, had everything we needed for a long weekend. Great communication and detailed instructions from our host, very easy to navigate. Would recommend!
Details for check in well communicated as was availability of hosts - but didn’t need to contact as everything was as described. Lovely beach shack for a relaxing break away.
This unit was a perfect place for my grown daughter and I to take a getaway to North Stradbroke Island! It was a great location, close to the beach, Straddie Eats, the swimming pool, and the bus line. We heard lovely bird sounds all the time from the back deck. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!
Was perfect for the stay and had the exact space, ammenities and utilities to support 2 adults and possibly a small family. Only notes are to use the clothes hanger outside after a rain because it dripped rust when we brought it inside. All in all, great getaway accommodation!
The good - Great location, convenient for the bus if you fancy a day trip to Dunwich and a few beers at the brewery. Easy access to cafe and bowls club.Good access to the beach, directly across the road, and convenient access to point lookout. The place had most of what we needed, to have an enjoyable time. The bad - The place needed a decent clean as it was dusty. The ceiling fan, lights, and window screens didn't look like they had been cleaned this year. The coffee machine (this could be a stayz error) was a kettle and a jar of blend 43, so plan accordingly, or go to the cafe, which is closer than the carpark.
The shack was perfect for our stay on Straddie. Only a short walk across the road to the beach. Scrumptious breakfast every morning at the cafe 20m from shack! 👌
Thank you Harry! Appreciate your hospitality!
Cute comfy villa within walking distance of Adder, pub, and gorge walk. Excellent amenities. Quiet and leafy. Harry was easily contactable. The only suggestion we have is to fix the front door handle.
The cabin was very quaint. Great location across from a beautiful beach. Wifi password was not noted anywhere. Emailed owner and he responded quickly with it.
Harry was easy to communicate with at any time. The property had plenty of extra's that made it a great beach stay - boogie boards, beach chairs, umbrella. There were games and books as well. Plenty of kitchenware to put together meals. Deck was spacious and had a lovely outlook. Shack 18 is located far enough from the main road that there is no noise. Would recommend and would stay again - thank you

Good position
Great spot and resort pool beautiful. Unfortunately the BBQ was unusable as it was filthy and the utensils rusted and the outdoor umbrella couldn't be used as it wouldn't stand up so it was incredibly hot. The front door lock took 10 - 15 minutes to work. It was a good location and the island was gorgeous.

Thanks for the feedback Lisa. We need feedback to know when things are amiss. The umbrella base was changed on Sunday 12 March. The front door lock was changed on Monday 13 March. In regards to the bbq, I disagree with your statement. The bbq is checked by the cleaner at each changeover. A packet of bbq wipes is provided in the pantry for guests to use. It is the guests responsibility to leave the bbq fit for use by the next guest. On inspection, and in my opinion, the cleaner, the owner and the previous guest, were all satisfied that the bbq was fit for use.
Admittedly I was a bit worried by the review that came a few days before we arrived, but the place was great and clean. Harry was also really helpful with my questions on the first day, but after that it was smooth sailing and well worth the price we paid.
It was as the pictures show. Kitchen, fridge, utensils/cooking gear, and stove all worked great and were clean. Only used the bed upstairs which was comfortable. Couches just needed a cushion under you when sitting on them because they are a little worn internally, but we really didn’t spend much time on the couch when we had the island to explore and enjoy.
Not sure what else to add other than to repeat that we were very happy with our stay and didn’t have any complaints. Maybe a note is to keep the bathroom door closed always so flies can’t get into the house.

Not suitable for older people
The property shower had mold and the water ran down the curtain all over the bathroom floor. The tea towels were dirty, the washer left in the bathroom was threadbare and full of holes. The fan was filthy and we didn't use the blinds as they were also filthy and obviously hadn't been used for a long time. The t.v only had foxtel and was faulty . The lighting in the apartment was very dim. The two lounges are well past their use by date with little to no padding and harsh to sit on . We needed to use the pull out lounge/beds to sleep on as a back injury prevented using the stairs to get to the bed. The spare mattresses were so thin that it made little to no difference to feeling every bar in the lounge frame. This unit was not suitable as a comfortable place to stay, particularly being older. Not value for money.
It was very pleasant. we liked the bush around the shack and the short walk through paperbark and vine forest to the beach is lovely. we walked to the pub for dinner and back in the dark. You can hear the sea at night when you sink into the comfortable bed. Only down thing is getting down the stairs to the toilet in the middle of the night! And there is a line down the centre of the TV. Small things.
