About this property

Private romantic lodgings located in wine cellar overlooking Canyon Lake

A private romantic guest suite located in the wine cellar on a high hill looking over the lake. The lodging has its own private entrance and deck extending out to the lake. Outside the first bedroom window is a beautiful garden with fountain. The second bedroom looks out over the lake. It is newly renovated with bathroom, kitchenette, living room and bedrooms. My guests will also have access to my "Sky Deck" on the roof of my home giving the viewer one of the highest and best views of Canyon Lake and the Texas hill country. Many of my guests have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, weddings and honeymoons here. It has been my privilege to share my home with them on those special occasions. Finally, I am also open for one-night stays under the right conditions

The walk out basement "wine cellar" was cute but two watch outs....the ceiling and doorways are low so watch your head and the stepping stone stairway is not for the faint of heart. Also, in need of leaf removal on the steps. Bathroom is tight quarters! Would have preferred to park within the property gates for simpler access. We enjoyed our stay in this quirky little place with it's beautiful views.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Wine Cellar! Chris was a very gracious and helpful host. The outdoor area offers many seating options, including rocking chairs, tables, porch swing, etc. The sunsets from the deck overlooking the lake were spectacular, and there is a sky deck for viewing. Wonderful place to visit!

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful, clean property tucked into a peaceful wine cellar setting. Chris was incredibly friendly, responsive, and made everything easy from start to finish.My wife, our son, and I truly enjoyed the experience—especially being greeted by deer as we drove down the road each day. It felt serene and special from the moment we arrived.The lower level is thoughtfully landscaped and features a gorgeous deck and hammock with a majestic view of Canyon Lake. It was the perfect place to relax, unwind, and take in the scenery.Highly recommend this property for anyone looking for a quiet, scenic, and memorable getaway.

Peaceful stay

Chris’s private studio was lovely! The outdoor space was amazing, the views were great, and the interior was well appointed. Chris was communicative, but also gave us our space which allowed for a nice relaxing weekend. We would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful view, great for a cozy wine and dine weekend

We had an amazing time here, even though we came on a holiday weekend it was a peaceful place. The owner was quick to respond, respectful of privacy, and kind. The view was better than in the pictures. If you are over 6’1” the ceiling might be a little short so be aware.

The host greeted us and answered all of our questions. Chris gave us our privacy, but let us know that we were free to knock on his door with questions. He had a great notebook with recommendations for sights, restaurants, etc. The Italian restaurant suggested had great food. Don’t miss the Gruene Dance Hall. Even if you can’t go to the night time dance, be sure to check out the pictures inside. The Grist Mill restaurant had an Octoberfest sausage plate that was nice. The roof top deck was great. I walk with a cane, but the stairs had a railing, so it was not a problem.

Beautiful lake view

We loved staying at this charming welcoming place. Lot’s of options to enjoy a calm and relaxing weekend, with rocking chairs, dining table, hammock, fire pit and a beautiful garden. The room has everything you need, a fridge, microwave, dining area and tv area. Chris, the host responds very quickly and is always there offering his help on anything. We will happily go to this place again.

The kids and I had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful home for a long weekend. We had a blast and this was the coolest Vrbo we have ever stayed at. Our host Chris was the absolute best. He was the sweetest guy in the world. He gave us our space to enjoy his property and man did we. We got to experience the most beautiful sunset on the roof and the porches that wrap the property. If you are looking for a quick get away or even longer stay this is definitely the spot!! It is located in the beautiful hills and. Quick drive to everywhere. We floated the river and of course schlitterbahn. If you’re torn on finding a cool foot this is the place. We even got to feed the wild deer and had a cool visit from some other cool wildlife. We are now making this an annual trip. Thanks Chris for all your hospitality!! See ya soon

My family was military, so we lived all over the world. I graduated from UT in Austin and lived many years in San Antonio. In 2016 I moved into my parents' home on the Lake. I have never lived anywhere I have enjoyed as much as where I am now. I get a thrill out of sharing with my guests.

It has been my family's home since 1972.

What makes this property unique

One of the highest and most beautiful panoramic view of Canyon Lake and the Texas hill country. All types of water sports are available along with many other hill country attractions. We are within walking distance to a boat ramp. The nice thing about this location is it is within an hour to many different cities and hill country towns.
