Sunny, spacious and updated lake cottage - amazing views & steps from the water!

Large, modern home with 100 feet of level, unobstructed lake front with fire pit, dock and mooring. 10 minutes from Colby College and walking/hiking trails, and about 15 minutes drive from the world-class Belgrade Lakes Golf Course. Love shopping? You will be about an hour’s drive from Freeport. Situated on Messalonskee Lake (aka Snow Pond), a nine-mile long lake with frequent sightings of loons, eagles and herons and great for swimming and boating.

Outside, enjoy the lake. Swim off our waterfront dock (option for gradual water entry via stairs from dock) use one of the two kayaks at the cottage, or enjoy fishing, cruising, tubing or skiing on the lake (mooring may be available but only with advance notice). Relax on our lakeside lawn, in a hammock along the shore, or by the fire pit.

Inside, enjoy fully-equipped kitchen, five bedrooms, three full baths, pantry, laundry room with washer/dryer, and warm and inviting open floor plan with sunroom, dining spaces and family room. Windows bank the entire waterside of the house for optimal views. Relax in the master bedroom's ensuite with its own private deck overlooking the water from above.

Fabulous kayaking, swimming, exploring and relaxation await!

Please note that a 6 night minimum stay during the summer is generally applied.

This is a beautiful house with wonderful access and view of the lake. There is plenty of space to comfortably host a number of people. Something to keep in mind should you stay at this home: we were told that there could be issues with the water pressure during a storm, but we experienced frequent water issues during our stay. There were many times when there was no water flowing through the showers or faucets (couldn't brush our teeth or shower). Overall, a really beautiful home that can accommodate a big party.

Everything was awesome and as explained or even better. Totally beautiful week at the lake, quiet and calm. Lots of space for our group of 10. House has everything you need but you still feel like you've gotten away to the woods. Super responsive and welcoming hosts!

Perfect place for family gathering

This house was perfect for a large family gathering. The kitchen was well stocked with pots/pans and utensils. There was plenty of space to gather together and spaces to spend some quiet time. Beautiful views and the hosts were communicative & accommodating . The master bedroom is a bit of a hike from the kitchen/living area but does allow for some privacy. Highly recommend.

Amazing

I have rented a lot of houses through VRBO and this one was one of my favorites. Everything was exactly how it looked in the pictures and more. This house was beautiful and has a great view of the lake. The owners were very helpful and were easy to get ahold of. Would definitely rent this home again.

Plenty of room

Great for a large gathering. It was end of season. We were not able to really use the back part of house or master bedroom because it was to hot at night and not enough fans. We made do with the other parts of the house. Beautiful views and fun on the lake.

Calm lakefront

This was a lovely spot! Calm view of the water, easy for the kids to swim off the dock, quiet location. We especially loved the fire pit and the fireplace for cold days, and the house was stocked with everything we needed, including fans for unseasonably hot nights. We got a bonus fireworks show from the next-door neighbors, which we all loved! While we had a smooth experience, the house was overpriced for its condition. It needs some maintenance. If you're staying with multiple families, which is likely for a house with this many rooms, note the layout. There are 3 bedrooms in the front of the home, but those do not have their own bathroom on that level -- they share the downstairs common bathroom (next to the kitchen), which needs an upgrade. The back of the house is newer and has another cluster of bedrooms, including a master with its own bathroom (and amazing view!) and another bathroom for the other bedrooms.

Lakeside beauty

Plenty of room for a large group (there were 10 of us), right on the water. Lots of activities available - you wouldn't even need to leave the property to have a great vacation! The kitchen is well-appointed and well-stocked; the living room is small but the gas fireplace made it a nice gathering area; the bedrooms are very comfy. Highly recommended!

Great for a Large Group!

Thank you for opening up your home to us, my wedding party was very pleased with the accommodations. We appreciated all the space for our group to spread out, plenty of towels, linens, storage space, etc. We did not utilize the kitchen much or prepare any meals for the entire group at the house but we did enjoy the spacious living room, dining room and nooks.

Maine Vacation

This property was excellent. It was spacious, clean, and had everything we could have needed. The location is perfect—right on a beautiful lake while still being only a few minutes from town, restaurants, and grocery stores. The owners were wonderful and very responsive. We hope to come back!

Graduation Weekend

This house is in a wonderful and peaceful setting,. All ages had a relaxing time during a weekend of Colby campus graduation festivities and formal events. Communication with the owners was excellent.

The owners were lovely and communicative. The house was perfect to a family with kids.

The house was roomy and bright with many bedrooms. It has a beautiful common area off the kitchen and dining room overlooking the lake. We had adults and kids and there was plenty of room for our families. The kids played hide and seek, ice skated, sledded and played games. The adults made many meals and made many memories. The owners were lovely and communicative! We loved our stay and would visit again.

Family vacation

There is so much to rave about here! The size, beauty, convenience, location and amenities of this home made our extended family vacation one to remember for a lifetime. We already are wanting to reserve for next year we loved it so much. We did have a broken washing machine but the owner was quick with a response and to send someone straight out. The company that came was another story as they never came back to fix it which the owner was not happy with. Hey if that was our only issue, I’ll take it! We needed nothing while there and felt just like home staying here. We hardly left the water, like ever! We used their canoe, paddle board, fire pit and more and found ourselves swimming many different areas and the fishing was great! Thank you so very much! Erin

Lake life

We (husband and three college kids) stayed 6 nights this summer (2021). We loved the house. So close to the lake which is plenty warm to swim in even in June. Location for us is perfect 2 hours to Acadia and 1 hour to Portland bc my crew likes to day trip a little. But really didn’t need to leave the area. We brought SUPs and I loved the kayaks at the house. We went all over the lake. Not in the description is a large walk in pantry so plenty of space to store food and a big grocery is close. This is a very nice home, matches descriptions and photos.

Great location!

Overall we really loved this trip! The house has plenty of comfy beds, and the location for water access couldn’t be better. The kayaks were fun and we took advantage of the board games and puzzles. The house was clean and ready to go. My only critique is that the window AC unit in the master bedroom isn’t really effective. The weather wasn’t too warm, so it wasn’t a big issue, but it was a bit too warm for us in that particular room.

Great location and lots of activities

Right on the lake with available kayaks to paddle around on. It is a large house with plenty of bunkbeds. Great for a family and kids. If you have seniors or individuals with mobility problems in your party the bathroom layouts may not work for you. The property owner was quick to communicate and answer any questions that we had.
