We vacationed to Maine for my cousin’s wedding. The house was a great place to spend time during our down periods. We loved the location and the space that was provided! Would come back if we ever return to Maine!
Place was exactly as advertised and beyond my expectations. Everything was very well organized and included anything we could possibly want. I highly recommend this place.
The place was very comfortable and had everything we needed. It was great we could bring a small dog. Having kayaks and paddle boards was so convenient.
The host was great. Sending us checking info and directors days in advance. The house was clean and we had plenty of supplies. Local information was available, restaurant's, grocery store etc. The area is very peaceful and beautiful.
The Belgrade Lakes region lives up to the hype and this was a great base to explore the area from with a very attentive host and alot of small touches to sweeten the stay. It was a good size for our multi-generational family to enjoy our week of vacation. The canoe saw a lot of use as the lake provided some good fishing. The camp is about 30min from everything. Would recommend highly.
We spent a beautiful fall weekend at Cedar Estates, the house was clean and very well equipped, as described in the listing. We enjoyed a nice campfire on Saturday night at the fire pit. Our 2 dogs really enjoyed exploring and running outside as well! Clean sheets and towels, hot water - lovely overall!
Thank you for your responsiveness. Lovely decor and interior, nice art, the place looks good. We loved the screened-in porch, extra camping chairs, and dog-friendly space. The kitchen was poorly equipped, missing basic essentials, probably set up by people who don't cook. The place was farther from the lakeshore than I imagined. There is no wifi. Thank you for the eco conscious cleaning supplies and fragrance free detergent. We were very happy about access to kayaks, paddle boards, life vests and paddles.
We enjoyed this peaceful spacious retreat before and after a busy, crowd filled musical venue adventure! Kind gestures abound...lovely wine, smores makings, great coffee (and coffee-making options ;), dry firewood and attentive Hosts when we needed them!
The short walk to the beach was also just what we needed!
Thank~you! :)
2 full bathrooms, 3 bedrooms that sleep 6. For the price you can’t beat it. The beach is a very short drive with plenty of parking and private to the community. The lake is perfect and clean. The little extra touches for me are what make it 5 stars- bedding and towels provided. S’mores stuff provided. Firewood provided. Easy check in and check out. Wine left for us. Dog friendly! My only suggestion for improvement would be an upgrade to the bed in the master, maybe a king or even a queen with a thicker mattress.
Very nice home. Very spacious and fully stocked for our family. The beach is a few minutes walk, you can also drive and park there which takes about a minute, it was very beautiful! We we able to bring down some chairs and snacks and spent the day swimming and hanging out on the floating docks. You are allowed to bring your dogs for a walk on the road
and trails but they are not allowed on the beach. We had the best time sitting around the fire and cooking out. Lots of board games were provided which we throughly enjoyed. I found it very peaceful and relaxing. We were very pleased to find this home so last minute that allowed us to bring our dogs.
We were really disappointed with our stay. The photos do not reflect the current state of the house which is not well maintained.Upon arrival, we were met with a strong musty smell like the place hadn’t been aired out in weeks. The listing mentioned towels, but what we found were moldy-smelling and unpleasant to use. All the closets were in disarray, with no rods or shelves to store clothes. While the sheets were clean and the kitchen looked okay (though we didn’t use it), the rest of the house was not. Furniture surfaces were dusty, and there was visible hair and dust under the beds and in the bathrooms. When we arrived, we realized there was no WiFi, even though it was listed under the amenities. I contacted the owner, who pointed out that the description says “no WiFi.” Since we were visiting friends, I hadn’t focused on that section as it mostly described local activities. I later saw the note about no WiFi at the end of the summary. Still, most renters rely on the amenities list, and the listing should be accurate and consistent throughout. There was also no communication from the owner, aside from our brief WiFi exchange. In all my past Airbnb and VRBO stays, owners typically check in to make sure guests have arrived safely, or leave a welcome note or small touch. This property does not reflect the standard we’ve experience with other rentals. The listing should be updated to accurately reflect the home’s current condition and amenities.

I’m sorry this renter was unhappy with their stay; however, despite feeing the criticisms were rather unrealistic, I will consider each complaint carefully and address everything necessary. I am also sorry this renter did not fully enjoy what our lake cottage has to offer: free boats, campfires, comfortable beds and corn hole! One complaint I will not consider is contacting my guests unnecessarily— when you rent Cedar Cottage, I’ll be here if you need anything, but you will have complete privacy otherwise! Be well all!
We are New England natives who spent several decades roaming the country, a rag-tag crew of nomads, who have finally found home in Maine. We love so many things about life in Maine, it’s the way life should be!
Why they chose this property
Wildwood Estates is a secluded, private development that preserves the natural beauty of the area. The membership support two private lake access points- one beach and one small boat launch- that we find fantastic, convenient and well maintained.
What makes this property unique
One word: modern. Most camps and cottages by lakes look the same. Lots of dark wood, plaid and antlers on walls. We strive to provide a clean, peaceful aesthetic without ignoring the beauty around us. We focus on the needs and comforts of our guests, always looking for ways to make our cottage a perfect place to stay!
